It's probably too weak, but Golgari Charm can be quite versatile killing weak creatures, stopping non-Damnation /Wrath of God boardwipes easily, or killing an enchantment, and with cards like Eternal Witness , it may seem obvious, but you can use it to give an enchant-kill, then use another node the 2nd time around. I'm not sure, but I think you can use Volcanic Island that are one colour off, since they are colourless, if this is the case, then Arid Mesa can be used to fetch an on-colour land for 1 life. This is assuming you're allowed to use lands like Volcanic Island . I think they just produce colourless mana though. This would only slightly help your deck for about $600 extra adding in dual lands and the Mesa, but if you're trying to make this THE ABSOLUTE BEST that you can, then this may help.

Sorry, last part was really unclear. I meant volcanic island, and lands that are similar, that have one of their colours 'off colour' since they will just produce colourless mana. What I mean is that you can use arid Mesa to effectively grab a blue land. I'm not sure about this technicality, I'm still kinda confused about colour identity rulings, so I usually just Skew away from anything suspicious like cards with flashback that's a different colour to normal cost, like Forbidden Alchemy , unless both colours are in the identity, but if you're trying to make the absolute best deck if you can use rulings to your favour like this one, then it's not a bad idea.

Color identity is determined by the mana symbols in a card's cost and text box (except for reminder text) and by any CDAs and color indicators. Volcanic Island is no more legal than a basic Mountain, which is to say it's not legal at all. Therefore, Arid Mesa can't grab blue lands.
Golgari Charm is underwhelming. I would usually rather have a counterspell because the counterspell will be more useful in more situations.

Ah okay. But the ruling about colourless I'm guessing applies for cards like Birds of Paradise . By the way, is there any reason why you don't use Sunken Ruins /Twilight Mire /Flooded Grove ? Is it that they're colourless? And Woodland Cemetery , Hinterland Harbor Drowned Catacomb aren't here either. I'm fairly certain that you've considered them, but if not, then they are a set of duals that you haven't included. Okina, Temple to the Grandfathers and Minamo, School at Water's Edge as well as Shizo, Death's Storehouse are pretty much basics with a bonus, so I see nearly no reason just to cut one basic of each type for them also. At worst they act as a basic, at best they aid your commander.

The filters are inconsistent because they require me to leave up colored mana to produce colored mana. They're not unlike signets.
Both the filters and checks are limited because they don't have basic land types. That means they can't be found with fetch lands or Nature's Lore effects. Same with the legendary lands - they're actually worse than basics in this case because I can't find them. I use the extra basics because I find them once I run out of duals and shocks to fetch.
Also, none of the legendary lands have relevant abilities except perhaps Minamo, School at Water's Edge in fringe cases.

I recommmend Negate in place of Time Stretch and Seedtime instead of Leyline of Anticipation -on a side note, it seems you have a mis-placed affinity for these cards because, the leyline is clunky if not in hand on turn 1 and provides minimum positive effects, and the stretch is a win-more card and too hard to cast, just my opinion.

Leyline of Anticipation is actually very strong in this deck. Although it isn't ideal to cast, it's powerful when on the field.
Seedtime is conditional. There are plenty of turns where an opponent doesn't counter something, and I don't really want to hold it in my hand and wait for an opportune time to use it.
I've considered Negate and Spell Pierce , but I don't know if I'd drop Time Stretch . I really wish I had a more competitive playgroup so I could get more testing in with Time Stretch .

Progenitor Mimic and Great Whale
Progenitor Mimic is a clone that makes more dudes, and with all the Navigator Combos it can make more Navigators.
Great Whale just a weaker Palinchron

Progenitor Mimic is slow and lackluster in a combo deck. I don't want to spend 6 mana on something that needs to survive until upkeep to even do anything. On top of that, Progenitor Mimic 's ability isn't very good. I don't need token copies of anything, and I never play Deadeye Navigator outside of my combo.
Great Whale is strictly worse than Palinchron . It doesn't have an inherent bounce ability, so it can't go infinite with Phantasmal Image . I don't think the redundancy of running both is necessary.

Notion Thief is annoying, but I haven't seen anyone play it yet. The biggest problem with it is that you lose the game if you control Notion Thief and an opponent controls Consecrated Sphinx .
June 29, 2013 5:27 p.m.
Couldn't you respond to the Consecrated Sphinx trigger once it goes on the stack? Just kill the Sphinx with one of the cards you've been drawing, and you keep however many cards you wanted. The opponent makes the choice to draw the cards or not, sure, but you can still reapond to the trigger, right?

I'm not the one playing Notion Thief , and Notion Thief 's replacement effect is mandatory. If I can keep Consecrated Sphinx alive long enough to trigger X times, where X is half the number of cards in the opponent's library, then I win.
Regardless, I have yet to see anyone play Notion Thief .

Of course, I just meant, if your opponent is drawing his deck out due to your Sphinx, I would hope he'd be able to find some kind of answer to either kill the thief or your sphinx.
