Wouldn't be necessary with Worship elpokitolama. I mean, it is an interesting idea and would work wonders for something like Mardu with Shriekmaw, Fiend Hunter, Tidehollow Sculler etc, but not the direction this deck wants to be going.

I'm fairly sure you don't like the idea, but I might as well ask anyways. No manifest shenanigans?

February 23, 2015 4:54 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #3

Manifest isn't viable in modern thanks to Lightning Bolt and their clones, and them being 2/2's are absolutely useless. BW tokens works because them being flyers and can get buffed with vigilance and can get 2-4 tokens out with one spell. Manifest is just far too slow to do any of that.

In standard, it is definitely a thing. Mastery of the Unseen as a UW control win con and GW manifest aggro makes things really beastly. But it only works in standard because of the lack of cheap removal and a slower format.

why no Venser, Shaper Savant you can bounce spells and creatures by flashing him in at instant speed then flicker at instant speed to bounce more spells.

February 23, 2015 8:28 p.m.

It's in her list of "Cards I will not use", though I'm not really sure why. Probably the cost.

Yeah, 4 mana for a 2/2 that just bounces is a little steep for me. I would have loved a 2/4. At that price I would have just ran Cryptic Command.

It seems wrong not to have 1 fetchable red source for the sideboarded moon. I would replace 1 Hallowed Fountain with 1 Steam Vents. This effectively gives you 13 red sources. That is more than enough to consistently cast Blood Moon.

Hi,

Nice deck there, +1 ! :-)

I have a similar deck, yet with some differences, less control and more about board presence / midrange, but still the base is "Bant Flicker", take a look, you might find ideas just as I found in yours : Bant Flicker [Feedback welcome].

However, I really dont understand the red splash in your version... Akroma, Angel of Fury is a nice finisher but why splash red just for her while there are many other finishers in Bant colours ? And why Blood Moon with so many non-basic lands ? I think the deck would be more consistent with only three colours.

You don't ever spend red mana for Akroma, Angel of Fury Darkiwi. You cast her on turn 3/4 and flip her that turn. Or whenever you can when they are tappedout/ you know you can prevent their removal or you know they don't have any. Akroma isn't something you want to be using against Jund or Junk or RDW, but rather against things like Scapeshift and Twin and Affinity and Zoo and Bloom Titan. Against the removal heavy midrange decks, Sigarda, Host of Herons is what you want to be using, and Thrun, the Last Troll/Twilight Shepherd against the control decks.

That's a good point tooTimid, but I don't like getting the chance of a screwed mana base in the first 6 turns because of a red land. 7 sources have been so far more than enough for me, especially for a control deck. If I have troubles in the future I'll put the red shock in.

Three words: Mangara of Corondor. He stacks in a way that if you tap him and then blink him with his effect in play, his exile target permanent remains on the stack but he blinks in and out. I use the effect as a one of to break up some of the grindy matchups I have in my GW Hatebear/Death and Taxes variant, and that's only with Resto-Angels and Aether vialed flickerwisps. In a deck like this you have a potential repeatable Utter End.

I will say red Akroma feels awkward as your finisher. I get that she's huge and gets unmorphed by blink, pro-white is pro-Path and X/6 is pro-Dismember, but she's also got pro-all-you-blink-effects to save her. She's probably the best morph option, but couldn't you just find better value elsewhere that can also be saved by all your blink?

Final minor nag-note: A Geist of Saint Traft token would never be blocking Akroma anyway- it wouldn't be blocking anything. They poof EOT and only enter on attack phase.

ScaryKoolaide says... #13

EDIT: Mangara is actually better than repeatable Utter End as it can hit lands too.

Femme_Fatale says... #14

I know that about Geist of Saint Traft, hence why I said in brackets (going through her).

BUUUUT: Mangara of Corondor, jeeze, it's like, the removal spell for this deck. Thanks ScaryKoolaide!

Femme_Fatale says... #16

As for the Akroma, Angel of Fury thing ScaryKoolaide, if you check the sideboard section, you'll see that it gets removed against a fair few number of decks. Specifically the ones with lots of removal. Against those decks, Thrun, the Last Troll, Sigarda, Host of Herons and Twilight Shepherd usually go in.

Have you thought of these shenanigans (which are totally legit I assure you): Traitorous Blood, or something that does the same sort of thing, then Cloudshift, Ghostly Flicker, or Restoration Angel to keep their creatures.

February 25, 2015 6 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #18

That's more for mardu or naya blink CkajLanoa. After this deck gets in the top places I'll make one or both of those. BLINK ALL DAY BOYO!

Femme_Fatale says... #20

I don't think that will really work at 4 cmc bijschjdbcd. I have to constantly be blinking it to keep the creature. I'd rather just spend one blink on something taken with a 3 cmc card like Traitorous Blood.

February 25, 2015 6:48 p.m.

bijschjdbcd says... #21

But its recurable. Not to mention blinking it can nullify a lot of attacks.

tyforthevenom says... #22

Sundering Titan? Or too much risk to yourself?

February 25, 2015 6:50 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #23

The moment you blink Sower of Temptation, you lose it bijschjdbcd. Sure I can blink the creature I stole but I really don't want to be doing that at 4 mana. At 4 mana I want to be putting down Mystic Snakes, Restoration Angels and Worships.

Sundering Titan is very risky tyforthevenom. I'd rather not use an 8 cmc card as the only value it would have would be against control, and against control I'd have to save up mana for both counterspells AND blink effects, so about 13 mana I would have to save up. Not cool. My finishers generally have to be fliers too, and with something to protect them.

I really like this. Why no discard onto the battlefield creatures, though? It's added value against discard decks (like mine...sigh). In short, I would suggest Obstinate Baloth and/or Loxodon Smiter on the SB. More the baloth, really. I see you already run the singleton troll, so I won't suggest that. Otherwise, I really like this deck, as it would be a pain to play against. The only issue is having enough mana to operate. +1!

February 26, 2015 4:32 p.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #25

You really have to learn the mana base to pilot this deck. Practically, you have to learn the chances of getting each card and to best predict the mana you want. And as for the discard cards, they are completely worthless against T1 Thoughtseize. Which is why I run 3x Leyline of Sanctity. And the decks that normally run Thoughtseize also run Liliana of the Veil, so I dump in Sigarda, Host of Herons in there as well.
