Why act of treason over harness by force?

I tried Harness by Force for a while, but I never ended up using it to steal more than one creature -- I just never seemed to have six mana to dump into it. I usually want to steal a creature and sack it with Collateral Damage or Qarsi Sadist, which requires four or five mana. The only way to get additional value out of stealing the additional creature would be if it was T6 or later and I had a Butcher of the Horde out, which seems too narrow to justify the more color-restrictive casting cost.

Hmmm, I've always liked that card, but I don't know where it would fit in this build. Any ideas? I like that he comes in on T1, but he's super vulnerable from there so he's not the most dependable sack outlet, and I feel like the manifest would just be awkward since this deck isn't really built with that mechanic in mind.

If I ever get tired of my three standard decks, this looks incredibly fun even if its on the somewhat expensive site. +1 from me!

Thanks! If you ever do get around to building it, lemme know how it goes!

Sidisi, Undead Vizier would be very beneficial in this deck.

Yeah, I've thought a lot about that card, I just can't seem to find the appropriate place for it.

Liliana Vess could work well here, another discard effect, and if you ultimate her, access to all the creatures you made you opponent discard. Fun build +1

What are you going to do for the rotation?

Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip would find a nice home in this deck. I made a semi similar deck with her and the cat here if you'd like to have a look. Again, same idea, pitch creatures for effect. Rakdos rather than Mardu though. I think I already +1'd but I'll try again to be sure.

Mj3913 I totally agree! I've been looking forward to her for months. Honestly might be my favorite card ever printed -- she discards, she recurs creatures, she has synergy with sacrifice shenanigans, she has synergy with graveyard shenanigans, the flavor is awesome, the art is awesome... she's going in this build for sure! I've been playing with her irl for a while now and she does really well. Updating soon. I suppose I should probably be thinking about Languish too -- lemme know if you have any ideas about that!

CeleryZed I haven't had as much time for Magic as I'd like over the past couple of months, but I'm really excited (go figure) about Evolutionary Leap, Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip and Priest of the Blood Rite, so I've been building out some janky stuff with them. Check it out here if you want! I probably won't put tooooooo much effort into deckbuilding until BFZ spoilers come around though -- I always hate spending time on decks that are only going to be playable for a few weeks.

RightyLefty I like Liliana Vess, and she fits, but I've learned that this deck has a lot of things to spend mana on, and a 5-drop isn't usually what you want to see. It costs mana to recur Bloodsoaked Champion, or to use Tymaret, the Murder King, or to use Alesha, Who Smiles at Death -- and there are a lot of times where you'll want to play two cards in a turn since you'll frequently be getting your smaller creatures back in your hand. The 5-drops and the 6-drop that are already in there are really powerful and pretty critical to the deck; I don't think I can justify the spot for Vess.

marioman77 Thanks! And that deck doesn't look bad at all! No specific recommendations -- I don't think you can ever really go wrong playing B/R with mean creatures and removal haha.

One of the decks that really got me into standard. Love it for the originality and effectiveness. And cats! I sort of gave it my own twist with manifest. I'd love it if you gave it a look! CATS ARE NICE.

My friend had to make this due to kitty flavor; gave my Jeskai deck a hard time when it had Tainted Remedy making me hurt myself when I burned with Soulfire Grandmaster out. Decks like this is why Erase and Reality Shift exist.

yeah CiAquatic clearing comment sections is pretty much the norm for this site. you can see the "comments" links next to all the updates to find all of the previous comments on the decklist.

this deck was beautiful and I'm sad I never played against or with a variant of it in standard, I hope you make something equally as interesting for the next standard format. good luck on your last tournament with it.
