This is my take on a Junk deck for modern. I'm building it slowly but I plan to take it as far as I can. Suggestions for changes are very welcome! My creature base leans mostly toward modern staples for Junk (Goyf incoming as I get older and richer.) however, I place emphasis on Doran, the Siege Tower's ability as many of my cards synergize with this heavily. Doran being so relevant here means that Kitchen Finks, Dark Confidant, etc. are not so relevant. The deck has plenty of other lifegain built in for finks to skip the party and also plenty of self dmg and Siege Rhinos for Bob to be a bit too much of a buzzkill. Suggestions other than the obvious card upgrades listed in my maybe board are very welcomed and wanted!!! +1 if you like it and lmk if youd like me to check out any specific decks of yours!
Tower Defense - This is truly an All-Star spell with Doran and is how i achieved turn 4 lethal. Huge buff to every creature on my board! This card will end the game quickly when you at least double the damage each creature you control does that turn. This card can be very sneaky as mostly no one is expecting such a spell in competitive modern.. lol
Turn 3-4 wins:Turn 1 land, birds
turn 2 land, doran,
turn 3 land, Spellskite, pass holding up mana for either Abrupt Decay or path (this cleared out the only potential blocker on his side during his end step)
turn 4 land, swing for 10 initially, anticipating shenanigans. He couldnt do anything but bolt the bird so i redirected with spellskite and popped Tower Defense to turn my 10 into 25 and a win.
There are other ways that this could happen as well, i.e. Mardu Ascendancy making two goblins on turn 3 from doran and a bird swinging then being sac'd to do exactly 20 dmg turn 3(if unblocked). Or you could turn 1 bird, turn 2 doran, turn 3 Lingering Souls, turn 4 either pop Tower Defense and flashback the souls for chump blockers or use the other 2 mana for Path to Exile, Fatal Push or Abrupt Decay to clear the way for your incoming 28 damage on turn 4! The main focus is getting out turn 2 Doran, the Siege Tower and using your removal with skill while sneakily waiting to pop your Tower Defense and Mardu Ascendancy trap cards!
