@Enyeto: Actually, if I were to run a second Aura in the deck it would probably be Madcap Skills, given that most of my attackers are likely to have double strike one way or the other. Your thoughts?
February 28, 2013 11:10 a.m.
@TzarChasm I agree, Madcap Skills is where it needs to be for another enchant. However our flying double striker has 2 toughness and very susceptible to any removal, save for Ultimate Price. With a lot of emphasis on red and white recently you can expect tricks like Boros Charm for indestructable or surprise D-strike and kill off your guy. Even plain old Unsummon will put you at a loss.
Ranger's Guile is a great sideboard card for a hexproof trick, but game 2 and 3, they are going to be hunting our paladins and skyknights.
I think:Sideboard -- Substitute Alpha Authority for Ranger's Guile.Have 2 Skullcrack and 2 Searing Spear, spear can target creatures also and remove a potential blocker, or Boros Reckoner the turn it comes out.
Mainboard: 2 Rancor and 2 Madcap Skills to give versatility for game state.Drop Wild Hunger for 2 Volcanic Strength and be able to slot 2 Rancor in the SB. Volcanic is very relevant as it increases power and most important toughness. If you can't get the hexproof, at least you will be resilient. (Paladin or Skyknight)

Also, I know Champion of the Parish is the best 1 drop in standard, but I feel that Wolfbitten Captive Flip or Boros Elite may more effective and less of a hate target. Unless you are trying to divert the hate from skyknight onto the champion, which is a nice distraction for sure!
For me personally, there isn't enough ramp for him in this deck. (i.e. Cascading Burning-Tree Emissary's or Thatcher Revolt or Gather the Townsfolk or Thraben Doomsayer)

How's the deck been performing? Has Avacyn's Pilgrim served you well?
I'd consider Faith's Shield instead Ranger's Guile. I think chance to make a big dude unblockable is more appealing than +1/+1. And if you've got the cash maybe throw in a Cavern of Souls to help all those humans.

@resturgence: I haven't played the deck at FNM yet, as I still don't own all of the cards, but Avacyn's Pilgrim is very useful here. He's no aggro powerhouse, but he enables a T2 Silverblade Paladin or up to 20 damage on T3 with a Fencing Ace.
Cavern of Souls is unfortunately out; I simply cannot afford them and I've never pulled a single copy from over three boxes worth of Avacyn Restored boosters. Faith's Shield is a great card. Its only real drawback is that if I have to give my creature pro-green to get an attack through, it forces me to drop Rancor if I have it. I'm considering replacing Ranger's Guile with Mugging for that same purpose even though it won't offer protection from removal.

Well if you are going for a double-strike theme, Five-Alarm Fire is good
March 5, 2013 4:07 p.m.
@infinitemana: It is, but what do I cut for it? The 3 CMC mark is when I'd drop Silverblade Paladin, Skyknight Legionnaire, or Boros Reckoner--all three of which are going to do more damage than Five-Alarm Fire, more quickly.

CRAP, I just learnt that protection also affects bloodrush. I've made a huge mistake putting Faith's Shield in my deck! Arghh...

Have you considered using Ajani, Caller of the Pride? His -3 ability works wonders if you don't have a Silverblade Paladin on the board. It takes the worry out of soul bonding and the flying can help your double strike attack hit home.
His +1 ability is also useful to make your Silverblade Paladin and Mayor of Avabruck Flip that little bit tougher to counter red burn.
The best thing though is that the ability costs no mana and you can use what you have to pump creatures into the big time damage zone :)
Unsure as to what i'd take out of your deck however. Maybe 1/2 Fencing Ace

Pretty soon this deck will look just like Naya Bloodstrike 2.0.

have you thought about Ethereal Armor instead of Giant Growth?
March 14, 2013 10:31 p.m.
@m12fox: No, because Ethereal Armor is dependent upon the number of enchantments I have, which is currently only four. The odds of ever having more than two or three out at once are fairly slim, so it would rarely even give +3/+3. Moreover, Giant Growth can be cast as a response to Dimir Charm or Searing Spear, whereas Ethereal Armor cannot. It can also be tossed on a double striker at instant speed, altering the game radically. Ethereal Armor cannot.
I mean no disrespect, but I would never consider Ethereal Armor for this deck.

no, it is fine. what are your thought on Titanic Growth then? or does it have to big mana cost.
March 15, 2013 12:09 p.m.
An ideal start with my deck looks like this:
T1: Temple Garden > Avacyn's PilgrimT2: Stomping Ground > Boros ReckonerT3: Sacred Foundry > Silverblade Paladin (bonded w/ Reckoner) / Attack w/ Reckoner
It isn't typically until T4 or later that I have any mana to spare for my instants or Rancor, whatever. At that point, unless people are killing my creatures left and right, I prefer to drop as much damage as I can, all at once. Since every point of mana matters, I want the most efficient pump spells possible. Giant Growth adds 6 points of damage to a double striker for G; Titanic Growth adds 8 for 1G. The former is so much more efficient that I can't justify the switch.

Faith's Shield is Instant speed... therefore you can play it after you bloodrush
May 15, 2013 10:21 a.m.
@fights: You're correct; I'm not sure why I hadn't figured that out forever ago. Either way, this deck hasn't been updated or cycled in forever because I've quit playing Magic. There's nothing to see here, folks; move along.

Alpha Authority might help mainboard to protect your WinCon Skyknight's.
