Double Tap (Nasty Budget Deck)
My goal was to make the most consistent, nastiest, budget deck possible. At an average price of under $100, this deck will win matches regularly and is capable of a turn 3 win.
This deck specializes in low mana double strike creatures, protecting them while they're on the board, and buffing them up with combat tricks allowing Heroic abilities to trigger and my creatures to light up the opponent. This is meant to be a dependable budget deck that hits hard and leave most people speechless.
Only 4 types of creatures in this deck.
Fencing Ace
is a low mana play that counts for double strike, so any combat tricks will double in effectiveness.
Fabled Hero
is essentially
Fencing Ace
on steroids in which combat tricks count for more than double their worth due to Heroic w/ Double Strike.
Phalanx Leader
adds to the cause by adding +1/+1 counters onto all creatures I control.
Hopeful Eidolon
is my T1 life link play that doubles as an extra enchantment to give a double strike creature life link and boost Ethereal Armor
Combat tricks are as follows:
Titan's Strength
adds +3/+1 and scry 1 for 1 mana.
Martial Glory
allows me to target 2 seperate creaturs with the same spell, thus allowing me to trigger Heroic in 2 creatures with one spell, very handy. Gods Willing adds either protection or the ability for my creatures to be unblockable as well as trigger Heroic. Brave the Elements and Boros Charm serve as protection for my creatures and adds additional help as well.
Enchantments are as follows: Ethereal Armor is a very good 1 mana enchantment that grows with every enchantment you play and Madcap Skills is just plain amazing as we all already know.
Game play is pretty straight forward. The only things to note is not to play creatures too soon against control decks as to protect them from removal and to let whatever damage early come through, as you'll be able to deliver game winning damage turn 4 or 5. Essentially you're goal is to gear up for one big attack. Protect your creatures, then unleash them.
