Have you considered any of the new cards for Battle of Zendikar? Like Akoum Hellkite or adding in Dragonmaster Outcast since it's cost has come down considerably?

When playing the deck I've found myself running out of cards out of my hand fairly often. Did you ever run into this issue? What would you suggest using to help? I've looked at Outpost Siege maybe.

The deck is killer. Went 3-2 at my last FNM. Nothing special but it's better than anything I've built so far. Keep up the good work!

I really love this deck! I saw someone play a card-for-card copy of it and then found it here later. I made my own variation on a theme which has worked well for me here. I call it my budget version of this deck since it only takes a fraction of the cost to make it haha

+1 for sure!

I love your decks! Do you have some upgrade ideas? How about Outpost Siege or Sarkhan's Triumph

I took this deck and am currently in the process of converting it into skred dragons. Skred is a mono red control shell, which is exactly what (I feel) this deck would like to have. With Skred you run Scrying Sheets which helps smooth out your draws, and you could run Blood Moon maindeck. Of course you just replace the basic Mountain with Snow-Covered Mountain.

Running skred doesnt mean you have to sacrifice the 'blitz' aspect, as skred really only replaces select removal spells and your land base. However, it gives you reach into the lategame if somehow your early big-dragon plays are thwarted.

Avaricious Dragon is a good alternative to Outpost Siege, it also would activate Dragon Tempest's trigger and be a real threat on the board. Utvara Hellkite and Dragon Tempest is a brutal combo as well. I run mono red dragons and that is one of my favorite combos.

Would draconic roar help this deck? It's got so much synergy with the deck

Hello! I am currently studying your deck list and attempting to tweak it to my own taste. It was the only dragon deck I saw that really caught my attention. I have a few questions for you. How do you feel about Sarkhan Unbroken?

Also, I'm going to put in Mirrorwing Dragon from Eldritch Moon instead of Moonveil, do you think it can even pull its weight? Makes spot removal trickier and I feel it'd be strong with Thunderbreak on the field. Thanks in advance!

AllDifferentLand, I quite like Sarkhan Unbroken but to make him work we'd have to go in a completely different direction. He wouldn't really fit here.

If you are interested though, I did make a Modern Temur Dragon list with Sarkhan in it:

Temur Dragons

I also have PLENTY of other dragon-related decks on my page, feel free to look at those for further ideas!

As for Mirrorwing Dragon, I think it would make a great addition, but perhaps as a 1-of in the mainboard and 1 in the sideboard. It's really good against decks with spot removal but in match-ups where we need raw power it's nice to have a Moonveil Dragon.

Hope this helped!

Hi! I think your deck is awesome and actually is probably one of the fastest Dragon decks around. Since it's mono-red, and you're only aiming to cast big creatures, what about Geosurge? It can give you a turn 4 Balefire Dragon!

I like the deck. I’m actually trying to go for my own dragon deck but do you have any additional thoughts on Dragonlord Servant. I have tried running them in mine and they have proven quite useful.

Country88, I actually had a full playset of Dragonlord's Servant and Palladium Myr in an older version of this deck, along with Whipflare.

When Sweltering Suns came out I felt like changing up the gameplan a little bit. Before, I would try to keep up with my opponents. Now, I slow them down to my pace by scorching any and every creature they play, making sure they deal as little damage to me as possible before the dragons come down.

That being said, Dragonlord's Servant is not a bad card at all and I'm glad it's working for you!

With the plan being to keep the ground clear, have you given thought to entries like Skred mainboard? Snow-Covered Mountain and Scrying Sheets might push the price up a bit, but it'll help with hitting land drops consistantly, and is usually the strongest available option for red's single target removal.

Thanks for updating. I too have moved from modern to commander format. But, still enjoy bringing this deck out once in a while. It has been a strong contender in our magic group for the last few years. Even without updating. Great work.
