Does Thassa, God of the Sea do work? She seems to be a bit lazy in the late game control decks. Maybe I'm not judging her fairly against the heavy boardstates where it might be harder to actually connect with Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius and Master of Cruelties , but the removal in your deck should be dealing with that issue. Keep tabs on her, I would say. Maybe another draw spell like Inspiration or Opportunity would be better?

I think she has really improved my draws overall, from early to late game. The cheapest source of unblockable. The creature bonus is nice but is by no means the goal of having her in here. I think it's a better card to have in, especially if she receives early hate as opposed to AEtherling or Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius

been playing Grixis control for a while now. You need a solid win condition, typically resulting in your opponents life reaching zero. With control you do not have many creatures to help with this and it looks like you favor kill cards and utility over being able to burn your opponent. Try to add a couple more burn spells. Rakdos' Return is really good for Grixis control because it can cause them to ditch their best cards turn 4/5 or can get you the late game damage you need. A huge problem this deck faces though, (it is similar to mine, so i am speaking about Grixis control as a whole) Is it cannot do much more than the 20 damage needed. After much trial and error, I have found that I greatly favor the black god preventing opponents life gain and adding another way to draw cards over the blue god. I would also recomend taking out niv-mizzet for the new stormbreath dragon. It swings 2 turns earlier and is not as hard to play.

Also where are the THOUGHT SIEZE! That card is super effective (which is reflected in its current price) definately need at least 3

Well, those are fantastic ideas, but I don't have that sort of money. I might be able to trade for one thought sieze. I do, however, have Erebos. I'm not sure if he's worth it thought. He'll never be a creature, yet the draw can be relevant. Maybe sideboard him? In regard to the dragons, I prefer Niv-Mizzet. A source of draw. Pings players/creatures and adds devotion for Thassa. I was looking at adding to rakdos's return though. They're expensive but better than the alternatives

Nice ideas but as said before you need some more solid win conditions. And maybe some creatures that can be played earlier.

Not really a budget deck but here is my current standard deck for grixis Grixis is Control maybe you will find some ideas =)

Well, what would you suggest? I'm thinking if I do change the amount of creatures then I'd add in some cheaper devotion creatures i.e. Nightveil Specter or Frostburn Weird

depends pretty much on your goal. Both are sweet. The Nightveil Specter will have more impact on the deck of your opponent but is also pretty vunerable to any 3 damage blast...Still is effect combined with cards like Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver Thoughtseize Duress is very nice because you attack the hand and the deck of your opponent which is a serious handicap ! =)Frostburn Weird Is nice to block and to attack. He is versatile and needs hard removal like Doom Blade Hero's Downfall or Dreadbore . I am more fan of this card due to his high damage when he get's to the other player

I'd prefer the weird because it's easier to cast. Now what do I take out for him to go in? I don't own a second Ral so I'm taking one out for now.

Bump your Anger of the Gods count up to 4 and your aggro problem should be solved

So I haven't updated this deck in a while and appreciate the comments. The current build is this one. The main wincon is hasty fliers or Master of Cruelties . Works really well and the mana base works most of the time.

I would recommend dropping Doom Blade for more Dreadbore since you already have a lot of spot removal and more ways of getting rid of them pesky plainswalkers helps. As well as dropping Jace, Memory Adept for Jace, Architect of Thought he is amazing vs aggro and is just better card draw when need and his ult is a win con if need be.

I'd would do both if I actually had the cards. As of right now, I don't have too many decent options for getting either. Thank you!
