@CrovaxTheCursed Dude, check this out. Initial playtesting is looking pretty sick. This look real to you?

Holy shit, man this looks like the real deal. This is ridiculous! I'm dying to play test this, it looks so scary. The only thing I would change is swap the Sign in Blood for Read the Bones because of the double black and no scry. It would also give you a solid turn 3 play if your creatures stuck the board. Sorin would be disgustingly good in here too, if you have one (I sure don't :/). Play tests to come! See if it can beat my Colossi. ;)

You know what, I take back what I said about Sign in Blood. It just won you a game against me lol. You literally got me to 1 health and you were at 48 life (Rush of Battle is AMAZING). But I swear I was stabilizing and you were top decking and I would have eventually whittled you down, but you Sign in Blooded me for game. It was priceless. This deck is seriously explosive, but can run out of gas pretty quickly. Honestly, Defiant Strike is a good card, but it really doesn't do much for you in here. Once you're Urding it up, that extra one damage is arbitrary. I think that spot should be a better card draw spot, such as more Sign in Blood or Read the Bones. Sightless Brawler can be hit and miss, especially when you top deck one, but he's pretty aggressive so I'm tempted to say leave him in there. More tests to come...

How are you testing, Cockatrice?

December 30, 2014 4:07 p.m.

No, I just play test on here. I open up two windows and switch back and forth. It's not the best but it works.

That's not a bad idea. I hadn't thought of that.

December 30, 2014 4:12 p.m.

Yeah, it sucks when you need to take one of your opponent's cards (like with Ashiok or something) because you can't actually put in onto your battlefield. So some stuff you kinda have to work around, but it works great for seeing which cards work in your deck and which cards do not.

What do you think about two Liliana Vess to tutor up an Obelisk? Not sure if she fits.

Or would two Sorin, Solemn Visitor fit? Either one would take the place of Rush of Battle.

January 1, 2015 9:43 p.m.

I'd go with Sorin over Liliana in this build. Liliana would be too slow, but Sorin provides some much needed Lifelink, and I like that the buff goes until your next turn.

Why not test out "Brutal Hordechief" ? Might be the finisher you are looking for. With your Cheif of the Scale and Pro/+1+! counter instants he could survive long enough for that final push that this deck would need to not run out of gas.

Also, maybe try, Sorin, a few Flyers? Have you thought about the BR Dragon? I always think Aggro needs a few big hitters just in case you don't win within the first 4-5 turns. If gets drawn out, a proper finisher would go that extra mile. How about the New instant as well, :

Harsh Sustenance

Yeah, Nelstone, you have a TON to work with from FRF. Warrior tribal is definitely going to be a thing. A big thing.

Brutal Hordechief is something I'm considering RacerXen, but right now I like Sorin, Solemn Visitor better as a 4-drop. He offers +1/+0 with lifelink in the event I don't draw an Obelisk of Urd, and is another substantial threat that my opponent has to deal with quickly, taking the focus off my creatures. The dragons are cool, but have too high of a CMC for this deck type. Harsh Sustenance is interesting, but I don't see it as a fit for this deck.

I'm hoping to see some cool white Soldier stuff spoiled too, CrovaxTheCursed, but I have to say, this deck feels more consistent than the Soldiers tribal. Chief of the Edge and Chief of the Scale offering buffs and being creatures really pulls it together.

I have two creature spots open. Future FRF cards not withstanding, what do you think fits: 2x Bloodsoaked Champion, 2x Sightless Brawler or 2x Mardu Strike Leader? The Strike Leader looks amazing, but I'm actually leaning towards Sightless Brawler. It's powerful. It's cheaper that the Leader. And, its out of -3/-3 range with an Obelisk out and can block, which the Champion isn't and can't. Also, with 4x 3-drops and 2x 4-drops, I feel like I'll need more lands if I add 2 more 3-drops. That means cutting something.

I think that, in order to be successful, the deck needs to be as lean as possible. Adding more 3 drops seems counter to that.

I'm going to figure out the real CMC with and without the two 3-drops and see how many lands other decks with the same CMC run.

It looks like 22 lands is fine whichever way.

Mardu Strike Leader puts out a 4/3 blocker every time it attacks. Bloodsoaked Champion helps get the Obelisk in play faster. Sightless Brawler is a cheap beater and the middle-of-the-road option.

It'll be funny when some other amazing warriors are spoiled and these decisions are rendered moot, lol.

what about Mogis's Marauder?

January 6, 2015 11:24 a.m.

Nelstone says... #23

Mogis's Marauder is a great card. The thing is, it's not a Warrior, which is the creature type I name when I cast Obelisk of Urd. Once I cast an Obelisk, I can bash through without Intimidate.
