I just did a playtest, I really like it. I've been playing around with a couple of builds around Drana, I think r/b is her home. Your on to something my friend.

@cdunn92483 I did consider the Wooded Foothills, the reason i ended up deciding against them is that the tango lands count basic lands when they enter, so I didn't want to reduce that number below a reasonable amount.

+1
I like the use of Zada in this deck and the combo with Moonglove and Titan's Strength. Why not hangarback? I feel like Hangarback has a lot of synergy with Drana even if you only get her ability to trigger once.
I also built a R/B deck utilizing Drana which I am going to run for a few weeks at FNM's. Check it out - From the Grave.

While I do love Hangarback Walker (I run a two of in my modern affinity deck), I don't really think it is quite fast enough. It's synergy with Drana is absolutely amazing, but I don't want to spend 17$ per card that might not be relevant to me.

Maybe add a couple Polluted Delta in place of 2 Smoldering Marsh. It can still fetch your Smoldering Marsh so doesn't knock any red sources off your total, but it'll make your overall game faster. An opening hand with 2 Smoldering Marsh is not what this deck wants.

@BigPoppaHads -2 Smoldering marsh, +1 Polluted Delta and +1 Wooded Foothills. I didn't have 2 polluted delta's to swap in.

Would you rather keep using Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury then? And what decks did you face when you played? As mentioned before, I also think that is Drana's home. Rakdos would be proud.

Forgot to ask in the previous comment as well, what would you think of running some Kolaghan's Command?

Since seeing this build I've been working on one myself. I replaced the Dust Stalker with Shaman of the Great Hunt. Had some awesome synergy with Drana and him on the board. Replaced the Bloodsoaked Champions with Monastery Swiftspears do to the fact I kept running into not having any blockers but the Champion at FNM. I also run Dragon Whisperer and Swift Warkite, nothing like getting Drana in for a free quick punch.

Have you thought about Alesha, Who Smiles at Death to bring back Drana?

In the iteration i did run, i had 2 alesha's, along with a 1 of kolaghan's command. When i get off work I'll make the modifications and we can go from there.

Unless you only want Bonded Construct as an early defender, I'd sub it out for Zurgo Bellstriker, or possibly even Monastery Swiftspear for some early aggression. As it stands, you don't have a very strong turn 2, and the construct is just gonna be sitting there waiting for your opponent to swing in, leading to you going on the defensive early if they are heavy aggro, or risk not overrunning them early against a more control oriented build. Really any solid 1 or 2 drop. Love the build though, loved playtesting!

In playing at the FNM, Bonded Construct ended up being the only reason I won a few games. One of my games came down to me having 3 Bonded Construct's on field, as they were the only thing not being instantly removed so I kept swinging with them. I can see changing out Bloodsoaked Champion however, as he can't block at all even if I need it. If I can get 4 Monastery Swiftspear's, I'll sub them out.

Hmmm. That's interesting. Well if it works in actual play then definitely keep them, I kinda took a break during origins so I don't have a huge idea of what cards are really great.

i like the deck idea, drana and alesha seem like bffs. Just confused as to why your including other fetches when you dont have a 4x of bloodstained mire?

@hesuskrist The deck that is shown here is the actual deck I run. I don't have 4 bloodstained mire, so I can't run 4 bloodstained mire.

Great deck idea. It is built like a Sligh midrange but gets starved easily. I play tested it against my 2 standard decks, one is an elf aggro, the other is a U/R/Art midrange. Both of them handled this one pretty well. For the curve you are running, I would recommend running 23-24 lands (bare minimum of 22 if you want to try it). You just don't have enough 1 and 2 drops (nor any kind of mana accel) to justify only running 20. Against both decks your early game was too slow and for that midrange you have to get in under it or have the mana/card quality to steamroll it. Against the elves you just didn't have the tempo to keep up.
You will definitely want to throw together a sideboard tailored to your local meta.

@StUrzasBeard I had considered running more land, but I instead decided to accept that I will lose versus decks that can punish a weaker mana base. I mull as needed in order to have at least 2 in my opening hand, and go from there. I have been working on a sideboard, it just isnt finished yet. Thank you for the feedback _

Crumble to Dust good in side against tri-color decks, take out a dual or tri land. Reave Soul is good sideboard against Allies. Thunderbreak Regent could be good, would open up access to Draconic Roar and Foul-Tongue Invocation. Temur Battle Rage can get Drana a counter for herself before main combat. Self-Inflicted Wound and Smash to Smithereens also good sideboard cards. Cool deck, +1

@Jimmy_Chinchila Crumble to Dust and Self-Inflicted Wound are good for the sideboard, so i'll add a few copies. I'm going to try to figure out where Temur Battle Rage can fit in, it seems like a solid pick. Thunderbreak Regent is a bit too slow for the deck, as I don't want too many drops higher than 3 drop, so as such I can't really add in Draconic Roar and Foul-Tongue Invocation

Cool, looks really solid. If only Drana wasn't so pricey I'd totally make this deck.

With only 3 creatures that she can bring back, why are you running Alesha?
October 29, 2015 2:37 p.m.
Signal Pest says... #24
@flcl4life I run Alesha because her stats are slightly above average for her cmc, and she can bring back Drana. It's tantamount to being able to run 2 more drana's, because 9 times out of 10 I do have a drana in the yard
cdunn92483 says... #1
If I were you I would run 4 wooded foothills. Another way to thin the deck out and pull your tango lands
