Hate.

Hate your graveyard.

Hate your hand.

Hate your lands.

Hate your creatures.

Hate your deck.

Hate you.

I know on the surface this just looks like a regular mono-black good/gross stuff devotion deck. And it is. Kind of. But there's more to it.

There are many strategies in EDH that often go unchecked. Mass ramp. Excessive card draw. Seemingly unending graveyard recursion. And none of this is bad. I have 12 commander decks; I do all of those things all the time.

But this deck is designed to punish those strategies. Several pieces of graveyard hate, with Leyline of the Void being the signature card of the deck. This deck is about annihilation. Once your creature is destroyed, it goes away forever. Oblivion Strike. Sever the Bloodline. Silence the Believers. Karn Liberated. Nihil Spellbomb. Relic of Progenitus. Grafdigger's Cage.

It doesn't only hate yards, though. I hate your hand, with cards like Sword of War and Peace. Your lands, with Polluted Bonds and Helldozer. I hate your combo, with Sadistic Sacrament and Praetor's Grasp. I hate your lifegain with Erebos, God of the Dead and Tainted Remedy. I even hate your tutoring with Ob Nixilis, Unshackled.

Just a few pieces of hate for a few strategies that, at least in my playgroup, sometimes get a free pass.

And of course, Hatred, because...

This deck is hate.

It draws a lot of cards. It exiless a lot of things. It makes a lot of mana and eventually uses that mana to kill you with my commander. It hurts, but it gives back.

I don't think the deck is unfair. I don't run any combos, no MLD, no lock-down cards like Grave Pact. I just hoist my opponents on their own petards while I build up enough mana to make Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief the baddest b@tch in town.

This deck is hate.
