Introduction

This is the dredge deck I was inspired to build after looking at some other ones posted on this site. Special thanks goes to MyRevival, ficticiousExplorer, and Sagarys as their decks were the foundation for what follows.

My objective is to create a budge friendly (my goal is $35 or less) dredge deck. Now, immediately part of the problem is that the most common premium land I see being used in a deck like this is Woodland Cemetery at $4+ a pop. I'm going to exclude it for this deck but it would be great if your budget was $50 instead of $35.

If you wanted to be less budge friendly Life from the Loam is a classic addition to dredge, but at $8 each I have chosen to leave them out of this deck (for now). For the same reason I have included 2 Boneyard Wurm instead of using 4 Golgari Grave-Troll (again, for now). Now that said, I actually think Boneyard Wurm 's lesser mana cost does provide some additional value in the early turns of a game.

Win Conditions:

1) Swing big using Bonehoard, Boneyard Wurm , Ghoultree , Golgari Grave-Troll, Nighthowler, or Splinterfright after they have been buffed by your graveyard.

2) Use Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord activated ability in tandem with Bonehoard, Boneyard Wurm , Ghoultree , Golgari Grave-Troll, Nighthowler, or Splinterfright to do insane damage directly to the player.

3) Overwhelm the enemy with the tokens that Kessig Cagebreakers creates. Echoing Courage or Overrun might be a good addition if you are especially interested in this Win Con, but I listed this last because token generation isn't the primary purpose of this deck. It's just a nice perk.

Questions/Comments

A couple of comments/questions for all you experts out there:

1) I'm not sure I have enough ability to bring creatures into my hand that get milled. I wanted to include Morgue Theft but realized after I originally posted this that it isn't Modern legal. Is there a similar card that's legal (with a gentle reminder that Life from the Loam is a little too pricey for this deck)? Ideally it wouldn't cost much to use and would bring back one or more creature from the graveyard to my hand. Do I even need to worry about this?

2) Is this a potentially competitive deck? I don't play competitively very often (as I'm still relatively new to the game) but I'm always on the lookout for competitive budget friendly decks.

3) What other comments and critiques might you have?

As always, if you like the deck please remember to +1!

Updates Add

Just an FYI on the maybeboard, these are all cards that I have seen in other decks or just want to make a note of in case I need to refine this deck.
