Unlike most of glass cannon decks, this one hasn't for ultimate goal to kill your opponent on the first or second turn: once you played the combo, your opponent is usually still alive. But he won't have any permanents on the battlefield. The game is won usually one a two turns after, with the help of your smaler creatures (or simply while casting another Vengeance). Because of our Eldrazi friends shuffleling the graveyard each time, this deck is not afraid of milling itself out, and can still win after the main combo has been shot, unlike its older brother Griselbrand Cannon deck.

Here, your graveyard is nothing less than an extension of your hand!

2.1.The combo

The main goal of the deck is to put an insane amount of cards into your graveyard at the beggining of each of your turn in order to mill an Eldrazi monster. But, each time you mill it, it will shuffle your graveyard back to your library. That's why you play the only instant speed reanimator spell of Modern, and in response of the Eldrazi's ability hardcast him, with haste. The annihilator mechanic should be enough to bring your opponent to the ground.

Yet, what happens if you mill out Goryo's Vengeance ? Don't worry, a squad composed by 4 Snapcaster Mages is here to the rescue! Also, don't worry about drawing one of your Eldrazis: actually, it allows you to go combo with the help of our sexy Rotting Rats for only 1[[symbol:B]

2.2.Preparing the combo

The set up is pretty easy: you have three ways to get Goryo's Revenge: you can draw it, flashback it with Snapcaster Mage or just tutor it with Muddle the Mixture, a spell that can also win a counter wars if you're up against a control deck. After this, it's all about milling yourself until you find one of your six almighty Eldrazis.

Now, we're going to talk about how to mill yourself: the best ways of doing this are first to cast a powerful mill spell on yourself, second to tap the biggest number of permanents you can at the end of your opponent's turn to trigger Mesmeric Orb a maximum number of time, and finally to dredge a Life from the Loam or a Golgari Grave-Troll for additional selfmill oppurtinities. You can also simply trigger Hedron Crab's landfall, which can allow a turn two Emrakul, the Aeons Torn if you're lucky enough.

2.3.Using the cards at their full potential

While playing this deck, you must remember that it can win even without casting an Eldrazi (even if this is kinda hard). For exemple, if you have the chance to reanimate a Venser, Shaper Savant on the second turn, just do it! Land bounce is a nice way to lockdown your opponent, especially if you're playing first. Also, there is an inch of ram with some Lotus Cobra which is probably one of the best ramp cards ever printed for the modern format.

There's another thing you musn't forget: don't try to mill yourself as long as you do not have Goryo's Vengeance or Snapcaster Mage. It would be a useless effort.

Also, you can reanimate Nicol Bolas . A turn 2 Bolas isn't something to laugh at... It creates an extremly powerful lockdown on your opponent, and almost makes you win the game.

To say, this is a combo reanimator deck, so the best way to SB against another deck is to bring in permanent removals because even if it is less and less represented, there is still a lot of graveyard hate in the current sideboards. Trust me: you don't want to play in front of a Leyline of Sanctity, Rest in Peace, Graffdiger's cage or even against a Dryad Militant. Be careful: this last kind of graveyard hate is the least problematic (well, it kills Snapcaster Mage) but it is yet the most likely to be mainboarded by some Selesnya Hatebears.

Against control, you have to get as much counterspells as you can: 2 more Pact of Negation and Determined are here to protect the combo if Muddle the Mixtureand the first two pacts aren't enough. You can also side in Dismember to kill manlands, some splinter-twined creature or a dangerous Angel of Restoration.
