Thanks for the suggestion. That's a great card!

I don't know how many times I have recommended it on this site, but Phyrexian Dreadnought would work well here. Sac it to Jarad as it enters the battlefield to have all opponents lose 12 life. As it dies it gives 12 +1/+1 counters on any of your creatures with Death's Presence. With Gleancrawler out he comes back to your hand at the end of turn and you can repeat it next turn ad infinitum or scavenge it for 1 with Varolz out for 12 more +1/+1 counters. With Corpsejack Menace out you can potentially put 48 +1/+1 counters on one creature in one turn, which could either be an unblockable Jarad or a creature that you could sac with Jarad to win. Also, Strip Mine is straight up superior to Encroaching Wastes and wouldn't add too much to the price tag. Taunting Elf is a lot cheaper to play than Mortipede unless you absolutely need that 4 damage to your opponent's creatures.

Those are some really good suggestions, I'll look into buying those cards to improve my deck. Thanks!

If you use Jarad, Dawn of the Dead will retrieve your favorite sacrificial Lamb, like the Phyrexian Dreadnought, every turn as long as you sac it before the end step to avoid exile.

That's evil. I like it! Thank's for the suggestion.

If you are thinking of making it a sac deck. I'd suggest Mossbridge Troll, if you manage to give it +20/+20 (which would be fairly easy with this deck), you can just tap the troll itself for another +20/+20 and sac it with Jarad to win. Devoted Druid would ramp mana and also fill your graveyard, and with those scavenge cards, you could add quite a few counters on the druid for some pretty heavy plays. I.E. turn one Phyrexian Dreadnought and let it die, turn two Devoted Druid, turn 3 Varolz, the Scar-Striped, tap the druid to scavenge the dreadnought for +12+/12 on the druid to cast any of the mono green/hybrid mana spells or almost any of the spells in your deck if you have the signet or the keyrune in your hand. Splinterfright works nicely to fill your graveyard as well.

Great deck , how does it fair 1 vs 1 ?

February 4, 2015 5:39 a.m.

Pretty well to be honest. I've not tried using it in a competitive match, but my friends have a healthy fear of it.

awesome deck! I am making a Jarad EDH as well and I got a lots of good ideas from your list. If you can take a look at my deck and give an suggestions it would be greatly appreciated A Graveyard Smash. Keep in mind its kind of a budget deck, all the cards in it that are $5 and over I already have or are trading for.

I have a Jarad EDH deck too. Feel free to take a gander at mine to get some ideas.

@marioman77, I can honestly say it fares pretty well 1v1... I have played against this deck with a number of different EDH decks that I have built and it easily holds its own, winning at least 50% of matches as a best guess.

I had considered Dread as it has a similar effect. I'm just struggling to make room at this point :/

I highly recommend Necrotic Ooze.

Nice suggestion, I'll keep my eye out for one of those :D

Taking a quick look, you're ramp seems pretty low,, so I have to suggest some ramp staples like Nature's Lore, Cultivate, and Kodama's Reach...maybe even Golgari Signet or Skyshroud Claim.

I know you're tight on spots, but sometimes you have to kill your darlings to do what's best.

Either way +1 to the deck, and double +1 to your username!!

Feel kind of going overboard with the creatures, and I see very little to put them into your graveyard or recur them. How about Reanimate, Entomb, Buried Alive, stuff that can build your graveyard.

February 17, 2018 5:30 a.m.

Derp, didn't see thought Jarad was your commander. Still buried alive, and entomb would really work well.

Hey, consider Buried Alive. The card is very broken with Meren it's like a tutor with her to get any three creatures putting them into the graveyard such as Sakura-Tribe Elder, Spore Frog and Eternal Witness.

When the strategy is to sac your own creatures then Skullclamp is very good. For a free sac engine Viscera Seer is among the best because it's only one mana.

Survival of the Fittest is expensive, but it's another broken card with Meren. It's an engine to fill your graveyard with any creature to be reanimated by her. If you're looking for a card to take your deck over the top Survival is it.

I like Buried Alive! I'll have to try and make room for it. I'd love a Survival of the Fittest too, but I'm currently making do with a Fauna Shaman.

Evolutionary Leap is a very budget replacement for Survival of the Fittest. It doesn't replace the tutor effect, but with so much synergy in the deck it will usually give you something great. And it lets you get value by responding to removal. Blanking removal in a deck with 46 creatures is very good. Also, Path of Discovery. Path of Discovery!!! I am so excited about that card right now.

I personally think Deathreap Ritual is too slow. Perhaps replace it with Phyrexian Rager for repeatable card draw, or Phyrexian Arena for consistent upkeep card draw.
