I have been playing dredge for a couple years now. This deck has gone through many variations. After Golgari Grave-Troll was unbanned, the deck got much stronger. Through extensive testing, by myself and a few friends, the deck has evolved into the list you see above.
The basic idea is to discard a dredger as soon as possible through cards like Faithless Looting, Lotleth Troll, or Grisly Salvage. Once you have a dredger in play the game is on. You aim to dredge away Vengevine Bloodghast and Gravecrawler along with any unearth creatures. From there you cheat your creatures into play and aggro your opponent down. This deck can easily win on turn 3 and consistently by turn 4 or 5.
After a number of painful losses at a local IQ I felt my old version of this deck needed adjusting. It was not well-enough positioned for the current meta. I feel these changes increase some of my worse match ups and make the deck stronger as a whole.
Side boarding:Ancient Grudge - affinity, lantern control, tron. Note: do not bring these in against decks only playing Aether Vial as it is usually not worth it.Big Game Hunter - Eldrazi, Tron, jundCrumble to Dust - tronGnaw to the Bone - burn, scapeshift. Note: it is viable to bring in one or two against any aggro strategy. Thoughtseize - Infect, control, comboTymaret, the Murder King - lantern control
