Burning Inquiry is cool, I might play around with it and see how it compares with Faithless Looting if I decide to add more red.
Shambling Shell looks fun, though I don't know how relevant a lone +1/+1 counter is, and I'm already running a more effective 3cmc dredge creature in the form of Stinkweed Imp .
I've been considering Golgari Thug for some time, but I'm not sure I like him. His dredge is strong, but I don't want to play him and potentially be forced to waste a draw when he dies if I don't want to dredge.
I don't mind Darkblast , another one I've been considering.
I disagree about Grisly Salvage , it burns through my deck faster than something like Burning Inquiry and lets me keep what I want.
I also disagree with Deathrite Shaman and Scavenging Ooze ...I think. But I really need to play this deck in a proper modern environment, which I haven't had a chance to do, to really know what to do with it.

Grisly Salvage is 5 cards, if you add more dredge Burning Inquiry is anywhere from 3 - 15. That said, I can see the appeal of keeping something of your choosing.

Burning Inquiry is just better for getting cards in your graveyard.
September 6, 2013 7:43 a.m.
Why? Burning Inquiry only puts three in the graveyard randomly from your hand, some of which you may not have wanted to throw away, or could have put in the graveyard with Lotleth Troll or Fauna Shaman anyway. Grisly Salvage throws 4 or 5 cards from your library in to your deck, putting more into your graveyard, not potentially hurting your hand, and giving you options as I let's you pull out a creature or land.
I like how Burning Inquiry burns through the deck, and makes your opponent potentially discard major threats (though it may also help them) and the random discard is very likely going to help you, or at least hurt you less than your opponent, but it's risky, not as reliable as Grisly Salvage and I don't see how it fills the graveyard better.

Oh I finally see what you mean. Hadn't even considered dredging from artificial draws. Still, that does require already having the dredge creatures in the graveyard. Interesting concept though...I might test that out.

So I noticed you only have 7 zombies total to play Gravecrawler from the graveyard(including the gravecrawlers). If you're having trouble playing him from the graveyard or you wish he could block, you could replace him with Reassembling Skeleton .

Thanks for the tips, and for taking the time to comment!
The blocking can certainly be a handicap, and I do share your concerns for my limited number of zombies. I would like to be able to fit more in to help the crawlers out. I really need to test it out a little more first to discern whether I need more or not. Ratios and whatnot.
The best thing about Gravecrawler is the fact that he doesn't just return to the battlefield from the graveyard like Reassembling Skeleton , but is actually cast from the graveyard, meaning he triggers Vengevine while the skeleton does not. This is the primary reason I'm running him in the deck, (and why I'm running him over Bloodghast ) though he does fit well with Fauna Shaman , Lotleth Troll and dredge.

lol i completely missed 2 combos in your deck, my bad. You got my +1, looks like a fun deck.

Why skippin out on bloodghast? played against this deck a descent amount of times and ghast's were really a problem. they fill the same role grawlers do and then sum.

I like Bloodghast a lot and would like to be able to add them, however I don't know what I'd remove.
They're also inferior to Gravecrawler in this deck because they don't trigger Vengevine .

After I finish legacy dredge I'm gonna try putting this together. Looks fun +1. I may try it with Slitherhead just to up the zombie count with a card that could play into the theme.

Yeah I have considered it, and it's probably worth testing out, but bolt is bolt, it generally gets the job done.
October 25, 2013 11:40 p.m.
Bolt also hits players/planeswalkers, Lightning Axe might be worth adding, but bolt is not what I would take out for it.

You might consider replacing Life from the Loam , since you already have Deathrite Shaman to deal with lands in your graveyard.

Love the deck, Demigod of Revenge is just designed to be abused! One of the things that makes me sad about modern is the Rite of Flame is banned, but rightly so I guess.

Thanks! While I'm sad I can't run rite in this deck, I'm less sad than I would be if storm was running it. :P
I might come back and play around with this deck again actually. It's a blast to play and it works well, it's just slightly too slow...

i dont get why you have ground seal in your sb, it is a nombo for your deck.
May 3, 2014 1:09 p.m.
Ground Seal actually only turns off Life from the Loam in the deck, while protecting from enemy Scavenging Ooze s and the like.

You might want to put some Hellcarver Demon s in? I reckon they'd be perfect for this deck, and I have some I am willing to trade. Great deck though :)

Burning Inquiry is good, you can dredge of it a ton, and there's a chance it will mess up your opponents plans, Goblin Lore is similar, picking between them is hard.
Shambling Shell is another good dredge creature who will keep on giving, and you can always sac him to dredge which is nice. Golgari Thug is also playable.
Darkblast is playable, you can kill off your grave-crawlers, or remove niggling threats. Very nice to have turn one.
Grisly Salvage is outclassed by the above. I also don't think you need Deathrite Shaman and Scavenging Ooze
