How exactly is "dies to Murder" a circular argument? And what? "Because QED this deck does well in tournaments". Do you mean that "because this deck wins at tournaments, I needn't prove that it's weaknesses are not weaknesses (and that those weaknesses are really just circular logic)?"
I agree that this deck is a great, but it could do things to mitigate disaster -- even against competitive, but not top-tier decks. Moreover, even against decks that do not use an infinite combo win, or even a combo win.
Derevi, Empyrial Tactician with Aura Shards
Karador, Ghost Chieftain with Angel of Despair
Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed with counter lifedrain and / or another erebos
Narset, Enlightened Master with Obliterate, Planar Cleansing, etc
Any deck with a Strip Mine -- like, for instance, Titania, Protector of Argoth, which usually also runs Wave of Vitriol
LOVE that you have Torpor Orb to side in against unholy enter the battlefield effects
However, you may also want Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed for some recursion power
You'll probably want Petrified Field and / or Crucible of Worlds
I don't know how you feel about Mindslaver -- but it's a great card that can help deal with a pesky board state
Maybe you want Karn Liberated too for some defense against a cheated Iona, Shield of Emeria
Anyways, looks really good.

Oh and boy ... Gaddock Teeg -- always run Toxic Deluge
September 29, 2015 12:50 p.m.
I"ve been tryin' to find a Toxic Deluge for quite some time, I intend for it to be in there.
To kind of put it in perspective, everyone has their intense amount of control (I will keep this short, as the Lol's version of the super bowl is now going on) but it all pales in comparison to my local meta. It's not that I have the 1 - 2 - 3 cards for recursion, it's that the tutors end up being a copy of any card in the deck. The deck I practice against is a mono white deck that runs probably every single form of white board wipe and destroy effect (Avacyn with a world slayer, tutor happy for that combo).
The ironic part is no one kills or counters Seizan, that alone makes him quite strong for politics. People want the cards but it gives me a moderate-ok beat stick, and the effect does tend to bleed, particularly with the amount of wound reflective abilities.
I could talk more on this, but the deck's in a good place, could use some more control repellant an recursion, that I agree with but the LoL world championship is going on now and I'll talk later if I remember this.

Evoksva, what are your thoughts on?Maralen of the MornsongAlhammarret's Archive
Tks dude, awsome decklist
November 12, 2015 4:01 p.m.
Gots me an email reminding me that I need to update this deck to it's final version 13 (see what I did there?)
Maralen does not lend itself very well. While Maralen does get around the Necropotence issue of "drawing" vs "putting cards in your hand", Maralen seriously damages your deck's ability to survive in a competitive environment. It literally takes the next turn to have them tutor up a game ending card, and barring some other player's interference with that spell, killing Maralen so the next player after him gets no tutor. All in all, a dead commander and it was your loss.
Alhammarret's Archive was a relatively new card that seems like it could be fantastic, if only its price was ever so slightly less limiting (casting cost).
Thank you for reminding me though, I will update with the 13th and final deck list soon.

I have a hard time building any mono edh deck without extraplanar lens.
November 20, 2015 11:33 a.m.
Extraplanar lens, when it gets way up there in competitive play, just turns into a 3 drop that gets immediately blow'd up and you lose a land. Best force them to have to go through land destruction.

why not Consume Spirit over Drain Life ? strictly better if Your not using both.
May 12, 2016 12:42 a.m.
The change is incredibly slight and there's a strong flavor boost there. It's important that I feel like I love my deck as well as it performing. All of the consume spirit arts are ugly. Mirage Drain Life is pretty. The difference between the two spells is very negligible anyway.

isn't Anowon, the Ruin Sage kind of a nonbo with Erebos out? It seems like we will often have enough devotion to make him a creature, in which case he is sac'd.

Hi, I don't understand the synergy with Anowon ... is there a combo ??? Cause if you don't have creatures you have to sacrifice Erebos... Can you help me? I'm new in commander and really like the concept of the deck...

Suggestion: replace Anowon, the Ruin Sage with Sheoldred, Whispering One

Btw If I'd play a Seizan, people would clap their hands in ecstasy about that double arena on a stick. Ofc its about letting them loose Life together with a big bord state, but thats he moment you will have a mark on your head and people will wipe the board.
