Without drawing anything terribly awesome aside from 2x Soul of the Harvest (which unfortunately, showed themselves amidst a dire selection of other green cards), I had to look elsewhere.
I drew 3x
Soulcage Fiend
, which made me want to roll with a rather odd deck in the end.
Was it the best deck I could have made? Possibly not. Did I really look into my U/R options? Again, not as much as I should have.
Either way, with Bloodflow Connoisseur on the loose, I had a nice assortment of cards that she had synergy with.
My white choices weren't as great as I'd hoped, but Cathars' Crusade made it a worthwhile gamble.
Defense against flying creatures was the main weakness of the deck and all my hopes for such rested on drawing Moonsilver Spear and getting some Angels out.
Post-Event Analysis
The decks bark was worse than its bite. It could switch from weak to strong but unfortunately seemed to stray towards being weak more than strong.
In some games it crushed opponents before the game got too far along. In others, that last bit of damage it needed to throw out just didn't make it. One of my final matches saw the Moonsilver Spear increase my defensive line, with
Angelic Wall
and
Builder's Blessing
providing a strong backbone.
But alas, not my best performance and so a 1/0/3 (W/L/D) result ensued.
All in all though, this has been one of my most successful pre-release/release events, placing well in the other two events.
CARD OF THE EVENT:
Angelic Wall
Sure it's more of a Limited card than anything, but what a Limited card it is, ironically one of the best defenses against Angels.
WORST CARD OF THE EVENT:
Midvast Protector
Protection against a colour seems useful a fair few times during a match, but whenever these two showed up... I just didn't need their ability.
