I've just started using Xmage to test decks online, I'll start testing it there when they get the new card images uploaded.

I think Sin Prodder would be pretty good. He allows you to draw extra cards/Burn your opponent.

I'm getting so excited to go to prerelease tomorrow! Anyways good luck with the testing.

Cool, I always been testing on Cockatrice but I am curious about XMage, I wonder which one is considered the best? Good luck in your prerelease!

I think I'm going to run four Epiphany's since I only have 3 Jaces. Also Sin Prodder Dies too much to your own board wipes, and so far has screwed me over more then it has helped.

Sure, I guarantee you'll love the Epiphanies man. Yeah Sin has been only in my maybeboard until now, never even tested one game with him and I don't think I need him at all, the deck is filtering and drawing just fine already, thx for the heads up!

Hehe yeah, except it's a lot more like Steam Augury!! Oh well, still the best way to draw while fueling the grave in this format!

I've been testing your deck since you've updated it for SOI. It plays very well, and I really like the feel of it. I'm usually a modern only player, but my LGS is hosting a super IQ this weekend with a $1,000 minimum prize pool, so I decided to give standard a whirl. Already had most of the cards, traded for the few odds and ends I didn't have. Wish me luck! I'll post a report later, if you wish.

Thund3r_C0ugar That is awesome man!! I always secretly hope that someone with more time (and more balls) than me will get the deck together and actually test it in a sanctioned event!! Really thrilled that you decided to go with Grixis, and that you chose my list out of all the others. Definitely please do come back with a tourney report, those are always immensely enlightening for all the oddballs like us who will continue to force Grixis no matter what!!

BOLAS!!

P.S: I also play Grixis Control in Modern, and I do actually own the cards on MTGO for it. Have a look! Kiss My Grix.

P.P.S: Don't worry about commission on this 1000$ that you will bring back, I only charge for Grand Prix and Pro Tours! hahaha :P

Cheers! Good luck! Bolas will be watching over your shoulder.

I've been testing this on Xmage and the only deck I've had a problem with so far is black/white control otherwise this deck has been pretty awesome.

Yeah man, I think that this particular matchup is the worst one. Let us see how much of the Meta it will take (probably a considerate amount), then we will see how to adapt. We will get some Meta results this weekend from the SCG open, and of course from the pro tour 2 weeks from now.

I feel we should have one or two virulent plagues sideboarded against token decks/secure the wastes + Abbey combo.

April 6, 2016 12:26 a.m.

EastsideRock says... #12

Yup, definitely. I took them out recently to test some cards but definitely will have to put some back because Secure + Abbey is scary stuff.

DarkAngel367 Trying to figure out which 2 slots in the side to clear for a couple of Plagues because EOT Secure the Waste is indeed too much of a problem when you don't have that Dispel handy... I don't know how much testing you done but for my part I'm thinking one of them should be the 4th Thing in Ice, and the other one either the extra Kalitas or the extra Goblin. I think Kalitas is more important to keep because of his exile clause for the pesky trio (Den P, Hangarback, Deathmist) + he's better against agro. Would you agree?

Thund3r_C0ugar Any comments? Do you think your Meta will run a lot of Secure the Wastes?

DarkAngel367 says... #14

I would definitely take out the sideboarded thing in the ice and goblin for the 2 plagues, as I've never actually needed to side those in at all so far.

As for testing I've done about 10-15 games so far on Xmage. I only lost 3 times I think, twice to W/B control, and once to Jund.

April 6, 2016 2:12 a.m.

EastsideRock says... #15

Jund is extra grindy but I've won more against it than I lost. How did you do against RDW (I assume you faced it), the classic aggro VS control is a hard one too but it's winnable. What about U/R Eldrazi (or some sort of Eldrazi), this one can be pretty brutal, but otherwise we have the tools to be victorious against the rest of the field, I think. Haven't faced much Ramp yet, people say it could be the deck to beat this time 'round...well we'll see.

April 6, 2016 2:36 a.m.

EastsideRock I honestly have no idea what the meta will be like, as I am normally a modern only player. But I feel like Westvale Abbey  Flip isn't going to be as good as everyone is making it out to be. Sure, that little combo with Secure the Wastes is cute and all, but so far, out of the 50-some games I've probably played with this deck, I've only come into that combo once, and I just cast 2x Grasp of Darkness on Ormendahl, Profane Prince  Flip. Also, To the Slaughter will usually have a good chance of making him sac it, too. Bringing in the Dispel's after game one will help to keep it under control as well.

Now, I also agree with DarkAngel367, in that I've never brought in the 4th Thing in the Ice  Flip. So I could see taking that and the Goblin Dark-Dwellers out of the board to make room for the Virulent Plague's if you're worried about it.

I haven't actually gotten to play against RDW yet, but I have played against a couple of eldrazi decks, they can be pretty brutal.

Thund3r_C0ugar Thx for your feedback. I think it's not the cute combo per say that we have to be prepared for but the EOT Secure the Waste play regardless if they have the Abbey or not. Sure we run a lot of removal and sweepers but if they cast Secure the Waste on EOT on turns 6 and 7, we potentially take a lot of damage. I like that Plague is also good against Thopters, Gideon, Pia, Hangarback...I think that's enough reasons to dedicate two spots to it, we'll see!

April 6, 2016 5:58 p.m.

Anticipate for cutesy cantripping and draw-fixing into the proper removal/land/etc.? I don't know how much it's been considered, but I personally like it in decks like this.

April 7, 2016 11:46 p.m.

EastsideRock says... #20

NotSquishedYet Definitely a valid suggestion, this deck has been running Anticipates for the most part of the last year (to complete our DTTs). However with the 4 Jaces we are now running, along with Ob & Big Jace, the 3 Epiphanies and Read the Bones, we have all the digging/scrying/drawing we could ever hope for, kinda! The worst fear I had the first few times firing up this deck was to get stuck on mana / not being able to play my spells, but seriously it is surprisingly very consistant.

That said, I could definitely see a version with Anticipates, it is still a great card. Cheers!

April 8, 2016 12:40 a.m.

Anticipate could be a great budget replacement for some number of Jace's. It'll suffer, but it'll still be viable.

Agreed, I know some people have been doing that.

Good luck tonight Thund3r_C0ugar!!

I had an excellent run this Friday with my own variation Would you kindly?. Came out 4th.

Goblin Dark-Dwellers and Epiphany at the Drownyard put in an amazing amount work! It didn't seem like any of my opponents knew about the Plus One card on Epiphany lol. I probably will add a third Thing in the Ice  Flip for a better chance to pop one though. The lack of instant speed destroy target creature is a draw back, but I don't like Sinister Concoction telegraphing my moves.Overall, super happy with it.

Long live Bolas.

Grixis Madness check my version of grixis out, although im playing jund this standard, i couldnt help myself from not having a grixis build as well, this one focuses on madness and using cards like avacyn's judgement and from under the floorboard with help of call the bloodline.
