DarkAngel367 wow! What did you face!?
Riculf So am I. Kalitas is great but they are also running a pretty good removal package so more consistent options are more Transgress the Mind and more Void Shatter like DarkAngel said. Obviously more Summary Dismissal can also rekt them. We have to keep them in check by always making sure that there is always at least one of these cards in our yards and flashing them back with Hulk and GDD (and Saheeli). Trust me, going full control on them breaks them, you just always gotta make sure that you have something against their insane topdecks.

Hey so why did you pick Chandra, Flamecaller over Chandra, Torch of Defiance? And do you ever find yourself running out of cards with only the 3 Glimmer of Genius? I've also constructed a Grixis deck for my upcoming local Grand Prix. I really like the idea of sideboarding Metallurgic Summonings and Saheeli Rai.
I really like a lot of your ideas. Check mine out when you get a chance. Grixis Control

Hi rvngzus33! Thank you for the feedback.
Regarding both Chandras, please see comment #9, I don't think I could explain it any better than I did then!...and I think that that is still 100% true for me! Flamecaller is a BEAST!
3 Glimmers is just where I want to be, very very rare that I run out of cards.
Summonings is AWESOME. Could even push it and mainboard it, but I like it kind of like Saheeli, because when they aren't prepared for it, it justs takes over!
I'll head over to your deck! Thx!

Ahh, this reminds me of my old Esper Control deck (sadly it's almost compleely rotated now and I don't really bother with Standard these days) but this deck seems really good (my esper deck I confess was not that good, though it rarely lost because most of the people at my LGS were trying to play the soul flayer deck).
And thank you for putting so much effort into explaining everything! Every card in the deck makes complete sense to me after reading the description, so that's pretty great of you.

Hextall thank you!
Give it a try for free on Cockatrice! (after 1.5 years I couldn't resist anymore and bought the deck in MTGO, but prior to that I was only playing it for free).

What do you think about Painful Truths? I can't decide on it personally. Also someone I know who plays mardu control uses goblin dark dwellers and uses ruinous path instead of to the slaughter. Seems like that card might work better.
November 27, 2016 10:38 p.m.
@andew1 I personally use Live Fast instead of Painful Truths. Yeah you get one less card but you can recast it with Goblin Dark-Dwellers and Torrential Gearhulk. And I also run Ruinous Path over To the Slaughter because it's more direct and keeps my opponent from choosing some harmless token. I think EastsideRock has probably playtested his a bit more though. That being said, there's no "best option", just make it your own man. :)

Hi andew1 and rvngzus33, thanks for the feedback!
Truths is a very good card but can't be recasted with GDD nor Hulk, so the 3rd Glimpse just played better. I did have a copy of Live Fast in the past, but swapped it for Void Shatter which has been doing more work in the first games.
Slaughter is a beast. We are naturally killing everything they play so it is very easy to engineer a very profitable instant-speed slaughter (since we keep their boards clear anyway). When you do have Delirium and they drop a PW, you are gonna do a MAJOR tempo play and they can very very hardly come back from there. The fact that it is ALSO targetable by both GDD and Hulk is yet another plus. It is also one of our best cards VS opposing Emrakul or other huge threats. I really really really love it and only gets sided out VS decks with very wide strategy and low PWs count. It happens quite often that I'll only side one out to edge myself out. Path is great VS certain matchups but horrible in others which is why I only keep one copy in the 75 (in the side) - mainly coming in VS big decks or PWs heavy-decks, otherwise all the other pieces of removal are likely better.

I run something close to this. I have trouble with g/b delirium and u/w control shells. How have you faired against them?

Hi cdunn92483, I love the matchup VS G/B, it is grindy asf! Not the easiest one but I do feel confident. You just really got to know which of their answers to answer. In any case, I've been doing much better against them since I put 2 copies of Transgress in the main. In game 1 it's important to see on which threats they rely the most. Are they more on the aggro-side with the Flayer, the Demon, Ishkana - or are they going out of their way to cast an Emrakul as fast as possible. You really got to side in consequence but in any case the 3rd Transgress and the 2 Dismissals are coming in, so does Path most of time. If they rely on bigger dudes like Demon and Green-Hulk, I'm gonna side my Black-Hulk and Saheeli. I typically always leave the Negates and Void in because of late-game last-desperation ''regrow'' effect.
The U/W decks are often more problematic, but again it's all about sizing their deck and the threats they prioritize. Now the good thing about this one is that I haven't seen SO much of them on MTGO (unlike G/B), so although I keep them in mind, they are not the main decks to beat for me. With that said, if they are the aggro spirits version the best advice is to be patient and not to run out of fuel early. Our biggest play will be picking out the Selfless Spirit and then clear their whole board with Flames or Chandra. Or are they a little bigger and relying a lot on Gideon/Avacyn? In that case keep those Transgress and Counters close!
Since we run the most reactive deck in the meta, we HAVE to know our opponents well. In that matter, I play better and win a lot more now then when the format was brand new. To prove my point, I will often win a crazy grindy matchup VS G/B and then lose to a rogue artifacts or tokens decks because I didn't see it coming and I answered their threats in an inefficient way or order...Know Your Enemy!

(preface: the walker described below is from the PW deck so not meant to be ultra-competitive, but MAYBE useful enough to deserve a spot in our side)
Holy SHIT (part 2) - DIMIR WALKER!!
You guys seen Tezzeret, Master of Metal!?? Fetching Hulks with with a simpe +1 activation seems deece! Black-Hulk could be even more relevant in our side!
Haha MASTER. OF. METAL - how badass is that name!!

I'm thinking this Planeswalker alongside Mycosynth Lattice would make for an amusing Edh deck.
This is an improvement from the Kaladesh intro walkers, and so I have high hopes for the regular Tezzeret.

I'm sure they will make up for it by being a chase mythic.

Facing a ton of GB Delirium in my local meta. Considering running more exile, definitely another Kalitas. Any suggestions?
