Did you ever think about dynavolt tower

Vampire_Lord I did but tower works better in a shell with cheap spells la Yoosa in pro tour KLD. One could definitely go that way but personally I want to be as open as possible with my answers and threats so I didn't chose build around the tower shell.

Have been testing out the deck and game 1 it goes swell. I seem to sideboard really poorly (while I get used to the deck). What do you tend to sideboard against GB Aggro, or Mardu Vehicles?

So I went to GP vancouver, went 4-4 in the Main event. Dropped and played some standard tournaments, overall score with grixis after 4 events(5 rounds each) was 16-2-2. The deck performed amazingly in a competitive environment. The decks I lost to were mardu vehicles (bad draws), and g/b snake(grindy games, topdecked lands). I will post the exact deck list later, need sleep, just played 72 hours of magic xD.

Demonblood502 Against aggro decks, you want to bring in the extra sweeper, and 5 creatures (2 Kalitas and 3 other x/4 toughness dudes of your choice, TITIs/Kingpins/Weaver), and siding out counters/disruption. On average, you should perform better post game 1!! ;)

DarkAngel367 That's frickin awesome!! Thx for letting us know, have a good rest and come right back with more details haha!!

Here is the lint to the decklist.

Differences Mainboard:

Taken Out:

-1 Radiant Flames

-1 Void Shatter

Put In:

+1 Yahenni's Expertise

+1 Disallow

Differences Sideboard:

Took Out:

-1 Ceremonious Rejection

-2 Dispel

-1 Release the Gremlins

-1 Weaver of Lightning

-1 Transgress the Mind

-1 Yahenni's Expertise

-2 Thing in the Ice  Flip

Put In:

+3 Fatal Push : Really good against Mardu vehicles, kills Heart of Kiran easily of you can't negate it, also decent against danger noodles Winding Constrictor.

+1 Collective Brutality : Really good card against aggro, usually kill a dude and gain some life.

+1 Ruinous Path : Added second path because I kinda hate Gideon, Ally of Zendikar

+2 Radiant Flames : One of these replaces the Yahenni's Expertise that I mainboard in my version. The other one replaces the weaver of lightning, I just found the extra board wipe more useful.

+1 Ob Nixilis Reignited : Useful against control matchups, also really good against any midrange-y deck like B/G counters.

+1 Lost Legacy : Kills Saheeli combo.

DarkAngel367 I can definitely see this sideboard plan; probably stronger against aggro, but weaker against control and big blue decks (Colossus, Reservoir) which there are a lot of on MTGO. Depending on where the meta heads next, I might have to give Push another shot! I like that you put them in the side. Thx for coming back to us! Cheers!

Personally I feel our mainboard is already really strong against Colossus, reservoir and other control decks.

Do you just build the new list each set based off of the old list? Do you get inspiration from other lists to build yours? Was just wondering how you come up with such a good deck each season.

I'm not very good at building decks, aside from limited where I can build great things out of garbage. I can only modify decks based on meta and personal preference. Currently trying to learn how to build not terrible, clunky, pile of cards. xD

Perhaps it could be that I CAN'T STAND to lose to other control decks haha...I was kinda feeling the same about aggro though, what % of aggro was in that GP meta?

February 21, 2017 2:45 p.m.

DarkAngel367 says... #12

Aggro was at least 50% of the meta at the GP, quite a bit of it.

OK I'M CONVINCED!! PUSH is back in my list muhfuckaz!! Haha so yeah I spent a couple hours jamming some games on MTGO and I could definitely feel the meta warping more and more towards aggro, so I dumped 1 Baral and Summonings since Control decks are way less prevalent than before the latest big events - I just figured I could use 2 Push way more.

Noctem says... #14

Makes sense. The meta at my LGS is also very aggro focused right now.

Vampire_Lord Similar to R/G aggro, VS pretty much any aggro deck you want to bring in all the creatures from the side except Baral, the extra sweeper, and 2 Fatal Push if you have some. You take out all the 3-mana Counters + Transgress, then I usually shave off Slaughter if they don't run PWs, and sometimes a Disintegration or 2 if the cheaper options gets rid of all their dudes anyway.

VS Control, you bring in the Dispels, Baral, the extra Transgress, Rejection/Gremlins if they are running artifacts (Rejection is also great if they have Void Shatters or any other Devoid spells), and PERHAPS some TTITs/Kalitas if you want to desperately become the aggressor (which I sometimes do if opponent's deck seem really slow), finally you can add Ruinous if they are running PWs. You take out all the sweepers, pretty much all the cheap removal (depending of what you see) since they are not likely to run anything but Blue-Hulk.

i think there are many cards that would make this deck better i made myown grixis control in standard and its wincon is Thing in the Ice  Flip it actually runs Collective Brutality, Fiery Temper, and Alms of the Vein those card are very powerful at transforming Thing in the Ice  Flip and can flip it for almost 4 manathe rest of the deck looks ok but I recomend using 3-4 Spirebluff Canal

pauldiamond64 Sounds good, but you're talking about a completely different shell here...you didn't post your list but I guess you would be leaning more towards a Dyna Tower kind of list; cheap spells (some burn) + TITI + Tower.
