I have not been impressed with Pull From Tomorrow in testing. If we weren't so reliant on Torrential Gearhulk as our primary way of turning the corner/stabilizing, then I could see creating a new shell to support Pull From Tomorrow. I could easily be missing a powerful interaction, but with the spoilers so far it seems that aggressive strategies have gained quite a bit more power than the slower control/midrange decks. Perhaps the rest of the spoilers will reveal a potentially viable shell revolving around Kefnet or Pull. Regardless, I'm still very enthusiastic about this set.

You guys seen Sweltering Suns!?? FINALLY, a really good solid concrete improvement on our deck!! Not only does it always deal 3 for 3CMC, but we can cycle it AND it can be targeted by our beloved GDDs!! AWESOME!!!
Sweltering Suns 1RR
Sorcery (Rare)
Sweltering Suns deals 3 damage to each creature.
Cycling 3
The Hekma protects the city from sandstorms and monsters, but nothing can stop the sweltering heat of the suns.

haha Noctem we shouldn't have to play anything at less than instant-speed....but alas we always have to suck it up for a few cards!..

Still wondering how the hell we will get rid of all the indestructible Gods with their toughness more than 4....counters will be important + hopefully making them sac...hmmm can't wait for the full spoiler!
April 12, 2017 5:08 p.m.
I would suggest Cruel Reality to deal with those...buts it's so costly.
Besides that To the Slaughter will do, but there's not much else besides counters. Although, you could try stuff like Unsubstantiate on the gods and then you can hopefully counter them?
April 12, 2017 5:20 p.m.
With all the new counterspells being spoiled I doubt we're going to have problems dealing with a deck that uses the various gods. You have Reduce//Rubble, Censor, Failure//Comply, Essence Scatter to name a few. You can also run bounce spells, etc.. so IMO they aren't really special. I think what we have to worry about is simply the top decks getting even stronger, namely 4C saheeli and jeskai type decks. Glorybringer + Felidar is nuts. 3CMC board wipes are nuts. Out of nowhere wins with combo is nuts. Really hope they ban the combo because if not I think all we're going to see is saheeli saheeli saheeli.

Saheeli has not been as bad as Mardu aggro for us though. Gods are going to be a problem in the sense that if we don't counter them right away, we WILL have to make em sac 'em...otherwise we will have to spend 2 cards to get rid of them whether it be bounce + counter or bounce + disrupt or 2x Grasps...or whatever...Let's see how much play they get first...
Gods + Gideons decks are going to get us to grind like never before lol...
April 12, 2017 5:58 p.m.
The only two gods I can see giving us trouble would be the blue and green ones. The blue because it'll be played in control shells and the green because it will be easy to activate (in fact I think it's the easiest to activate out of all of them). The white one requires 3 other creatures which against us probably won't happen very easily considering we have tons of removal and board wipes. The Black one requires that a creature die on that specific turn which again can be dealt with. Finally the red one requires hellbent, and if things go according to plan we should be in control of the match by then. Not to mention they won't play it until they are hellbent so the odds of them having an answer isn't likely. They won't play it early over creatures that can actually do things immediately.

Noctem, very valid analysis, I hadn't even taken the time to do so. You are probably right for the most part. They really have weird designs and really must be built around to shine properly except the green and blue one like you said. I'm definitely foreseeing trying the blue God at least 1 copy in the 75. We'll see how it goes!

This set seems VERY lackluster for control decks, I feel like the grixis list will either have to change very little and continue what its doing, or change drastically and try to take a new approach.
Have you thought about adding 1 or even 2 of the new liliana in the 75, seems pretty good to me. The +1 Protects her and you, it also puts some cards in the grave for gearhulk and dark dweller recursion. The -3 can bring back gearhulks and dark dwellers to also recur spells. And the Ult is yet another board clear (Though you probrably should rely on it every game).
Another deck we will have to watch out for I think is grixis zombie lists, with scrapheaps already being a problem, and now Dread Wanderer.

We were just talking about it: here is some OK God Removal.
April 13, 2017 12:26 p.m.
Not really removal of they get it back 2 turns later. Feels like a half measure. And you basically never want to give your opponent 7 new cards right?

DarkAngel367 If nothing's gotta be changed, then we change nothing. It's all about being able to be the best reactive deck to the meta. Our core didn't change one bit with AER. So far, there's a few upgrades that we will be able to do, but again, our list will be very dependant of the decks to beat, and I don't foresee our core of Gearhulk + GDD + Chandra + Lili + Glimmer + Anticipate going anywhere soon.
I do like the new Lili quite a lot, and I will for sure be testing with her. At 5-CMC, I don't know where she'll fit but I would be surprised to not run 1 copy in the 75.
Recursive-aggro decks can be a pain in the butt, but will all the removal we typically run, I am not too worried. Kali will still be boss against them, and I CANNOT wait to cast and re-cast Sweltering Suns :D

Noctem - The tuck at instant speed will certainly disrupt their plans and give us a turn to dig for an answer. It is not exciting but probably will be needed. I like that it's instant-speed so that we will be able to recast it with Hulk and that play will be super tempolicious for us. The second half of the cards will rarely be cast, but flexibility is always good thing, there will surely be a time somewhere down the road when it will be mandatory to pull that tricky trigger.

Good Lord!

Glorious end + Insidious Will?
Does this work how I think it might?
April 13, 2017 4:02 p.m.
Uuuuum. Does Glorious End have targets though? I don't think it does so no?

Haha Delta it was worth enquiry, but no, not possible.
Reddit guy said: ''No, on multiple levels. Insidious Will only targets spells, not abilities. And Glorious End does not target.''

Hey guys am realizing that the FULL SPOILER IS TOMORROW!!!! That means that I'll be testing on Cockatrice as soon as hopefully well tomorrow, and putting up a list this weekend!! I LOOOOOVE me brand new format season, this is really what keeps this game going!!...
Hmmmm question though:....WHERE THE FUCK IS BOLAS!?!?!? AND WHY I DON'T FEEL LIKE GRIXIS ISN'T GETTING MUCH ATTENTION....white zombie support!??? What's going on!
April 13, 2017 9:56 p.m.
Bolas won't be until the next set, all the mythics have been spoiled. Earlier booster packs leaked shown art of Nicol Bolas for Hour of Devastation. The name I find is pretty indicative of that, as well as the magic story so far if you follow up on that also clearly tells of his return in Hour of devastation.
Well you got Sweltering Suns and Fetid Pools(Only will be relevant to you later on this one. It might even be interesting later when you lose your Goblin Dark-Dwellers to try out Archfiend of Ifnir and some cycle/discard cards, keep this in mind for later on).
Other than that I see little this deck wants except maybe a Kefnet the Mindful, or as suggested earlier a liliana, death's majesty. Yeah seriously though w/b zombies has a lot of stuff going on and I think that might be a deck you will end up facing.

Hey wussup boys, well this current list is working really well so far!!! Sweltering Suns is soooooo gooooood!! And other support cards and upgrades such as Magma Spray, By Force and Kefnet are very welcomed!!
It's all about Suns man....running 3 in the main, and if I'm facing some deck I don't need them against, I just pitch it and draw something else!! That just feels so good to not hold friggin flames for nothing!! And retargeting them with GDD is giving creature decks a hell of a headache!!

Hi guys, have you seen Pull from Tomorrow? At first glance it is really exciting: X CARDS AT INSTANT SPEED, WOW HOLY SHITBALLS, right!? But after analyzing it VS Glimpse, I find it to be a lot less appealing. Before at least turn 6, Glimpse will probably always be a better choice from a card advantage/selection standpoint; dig 2 + draw 2, instead of blindly drawing 3 and discarding 1... On top of that, Blue Hulk can't friggin recast it!...now that's the BIG bummer. For these reasons I don't see running more copies of it than Glimpse. SURE casting it for x=5 starts to be really cool, but also keep in mind that if you are facing another blue mage, often you even rather cast Glimpse for 4 and keep some mana open to protect it...
VERDICT: It's pretty cool, but I don't think I would run more than 1 copy, maybe 2. It's just really lackluster in early to mid-game and can't be reanimated by Blue Hulk.
*Note: I obviously disregard the discard-matter aspect of it here, as I don't think it will truly matter. And even if it did, there are surely better ways to dump shit to the yard for the decks that care about that...
