My plan is to play mono-white humans (with a small red splash) until the meta settles and then probably some kind of control-ish list.

If you feel like playtesting against it I'll link you the decklist.

jonmaior With the other removal we already had + now Magma Spray and Sweltering Suns, I haven't found use for Cut at all! Although I would love to cast me some Ribbons and end games with it, Sorcery-speed just really sucks... And realistically our win-cons are just as solid as they were, no need for others.
April 15, 2017 7:49 p.m.
I agree, the sorcery speed kind of sucks. you might try baral chief of compliance though, he can save you a lot of mana in the long run and make your disallows much better. also I run a similar deck but I use x2 dynavolt towers and x4 harsh scrutiny. harsh scrutiny is really useful against aggro decks and the scry 1 helps to. you have only 1 1 mana spell so it would definitely help the curve.

jonmaior Thx for your input! I did use 2x Baral in the main, and then in the side, and then 1 in the side which just got swapped for a Kefnet (which I haven't tested enough yet). The problem I found about Baral in my shell is that he either dies quickly or I need to spend counters defending him which is not ideal since he isn't a win-con by himself. He did shine in some games but definitely fits better in a dedicated Tower build with many more counters. I'll tell you where he's been better for me: Mono-Blue EDH haha!! BROKEN!
I love Harsh Scrutiny too, but at this point it becomes a slot issue, I only have 3 slots for disruption so I'd rather they came with the exile clause. (I tested Lay Bare The Heart also but I found it wasn't catching much stuff Transgress couldn't).
GL with the deck buddy, cheers!

Love the deck. Only been playing since Eldritch Moon but Grixis is definitely by favorite play style. I had a question, once Zendikar and Innistrad blocks rotate out, which lands would you sub in and how many of each would you play?
April 16, 2017 6:16 p.m.
Hopefully by the time those 2 sets rotate out we will have something new land wise to fill in the void.

traffy498 Thank you much, and very happy to that you caught on the Grixis train! As Noctem said, it's impossible to know because with each set we have new lands to build with. I don't believe there will ever be a time that building a 3-color manabase will not be possible...But as far as I'm concerned, I couldn't care less, I would still play Grixis even if we only had access to basics!

It's killing me that we have to wait THREE ENTIRE MONTHS TO SEE BOLAS!!!!!
Loving the new list btw, havent tested it much, but sweltering suns + Goblin Dark-Dwellers is amazing!!

Your 2x Ruinous Path in the sb should be Never / Return instead.
I'm super conflicted about keeping Transgress the Mind in the main. I think it can be argued that they should be moved to the side in order to make room.
Having one more goblin could be justified in the coming meta.
I'm also thinking about the blue god being in the main. The fact that it's a 3 drop is super powerful. Though I will say that against some matchups, Keeping ourselves at 6 cards is going to be difficult. We're going to want to use spells.
April 17, 2017 1:11 p.m.
Have you given thought to replacing Transgress the Mind with Lay Bare the Heart?

DarkAngel367 Haha I know right!.....what a godamn tease to see his horns everywhere....kinda like all the recurring Emra jokes we saw during Innistrad 2 lol....
Noctem See the note below my temporary disclaimer in italics ;) - I'm actually running one Never and one Final Reward instead of the two Paths. I've really been loving the 2 Transgress main, with our playstyle it is soooo valuable to see our opponents hand to know if it's time to release the threats, or even more important which answer to keep against which threat. I've really been happy with 2 in the main, the only matchup where they suck is against supper-aggro decks, mono-red builds usually. Kefnet is kinda tricky, I'm not sure about if he would be ok in the main or not, but since the priority for the early to mid-game VS most of the field is just getting opponent out of gas, I don't need an extra win-con (especially since he's conditional). He's a hell of a mirror breaker though, awesome VS other Control, and theoretically against some Combo (although I haven't face any!...seems like everyone is trying something else than cat-combo recently)...we'll just have to see where the meta will go! I tried Lay Bare but didn't like it, most of the time Trangress would have caught the threat and actually exiled it...I really don't like that Lay Bare doesn't catch the Gods....perhaps that exception alone would have been enough for me to run at least 1 copy.

Anything changed since the cat ban or would you need to playtest some more.
I'm thinking of buying this for my first paper deck, I love the colours (U/B) and control. Australian conversion rates are pretty poor right now unfortunately.
Thanks.

BenGarrison I unfortunately didn't have to test much in the last week, but I'll get back to it pretty soon and also update the description. That said, no I don't think it will change much, we didn't have cards especially dedicated VS the Cat deck since our match-up VS it was pretty decent already with all the removal with naturally run.

Alright, I'll probably wait a few weeks to make a big purchase on a deck to let everything settle down.
I've read a lot of people being suprised by Censor, running it as a 4. Hieroglypic Illumination replacing Anticipate aswell, and Pull from Tomorrow working out really well. Sphinx of the Final Word also is just great against control.

Censor is very attractive but since I'm not really running that many counters, I kind of want all of them to be really effective (especially when they are being recasted with Hulk). I think Censor will shine most in a dedicated control deck, most likely two colors like UB, UW, or some kind of Esper very light on the third color.
Illumination seems pretty lackluster. Sure it's fun to draw two cards at instant speed, but for the same amount of mana we get Glimpse, and on low mana I'd Anticipate 10 times outta 10 VS just cycling it.
I don't like Pull for all the reasons I cited above (see comment number 10).
Sphinx is really a great mirror-breaker but the thing is that we just very rarely fight control. The card I have used less in the 75 up to now is Kefnet because we just don't really need so many slots dedicated to control in these Heart of Kiran and Gideon metas!...
Thx for your input! Cheers!

2 Things:
1) How did your testing with Kefnet go? I'm thinking about using him as a center point for my control deck.
2) Some cards don't show a pic, like Sweltering Suns. Add (AKH) to the end of the card so people can see what it does.

Wuddup Illuminate21
1) As just stated a few minutes earlier, it is the least useful card of the 75 in this meta! I just haven't faced enough control to bring it along and really test it tbh, BUT I'm happy to have him sit there a little while longer because I'm really satisfied with the rest of the 74. You can certainly make a building around the card, although your shell will be very different from mine. You most likely will want to have as much board wipes and card draw as possible. Probably better off being U/W/x.
2) THX! didn't know I could do that! lol!...

DarkAngel367 I really don't think so! My description had a typo in it, I'm only running one in the side.

Ah that makes sense, two seemed a bit much for a 5 mana removal spell. regardless of the fact that you can gearhulk it back.
BTW This is DarkAngel367, my email was hacked into a few days ago and I can't login to DarkAngel anymore, so I'll be using this account from now on.

Haha yeah, it's one thing to go with our gut and expect one card to perform, another to actually see it perform for us. Although, it doesn't take great wisdom to know that Suns is going to be format defining haha :D - Just happy to have it in the roster!
