Supreme Will looks awesome. Counter a spell or dig for a threat for 2U seems really good. The only problem I see is we already have good counter spells on three. Do we add these in addition, or maybe replace Anticipate with them?

Facebeater Nothing is going to be certain until the set is fully spoiled but I foresee us swapping 1-2 anticipate and/or 1-2 counter counterspells. The option to either dig or counter will be extremely valuable for us, especially early game. The fact that it is just one blue mana is super relevant to us and will be much easier to cast than double U counterspells (albeit less powerful of course, strictly counterspell speaking).

2-3 copies in the main will be the magic number I think, although I think I'm already leaning towards 3 and could definitely see the case for 4. Good card is good!

EastsideRock The ___ Insight card from Ixalan is confirmed an instant.

Supreme Will looks like a sick card, only problem I can find is making sure it doesn't muck up your curve, but otherwise, great card.

I reckon we r gonna get 2 more gods in HOU, one being Dimir (Beetle God) and the other Izzet (Locust God).

Could be Dimir and Double Black.

The more I look at The Scorpion God, the more I think it might deserve a spot in the Sideboard - at least a playtesting run. Yes it takes at least 8 mana before you are able to draw the first card off of him, but his never-dying ability is kind of dope in a grindy matchup. I will need to run (or playtest) with him at least long enough to play a match VS a tokens deck and start machine-gun drawing cards! Tasy asf.

How has your experience been with Commit? Have you found in worth the spot in the sideboard/main? Also do you think with Marvel being banned and sets rotating, do you think Fatal Push will be worth running or you think its still not worth b/c revolting is very difficult?

June 18, 2017 11:52 a.m.

TheBooman says... #8

Push I believe will always be relevant myself, as for commit, I need further testing to see if I think it is worth it.

as for The Scorpion God I say I agree with the SideBoard test.

Commmit has been doing very good so far. I found good use for it every time I drew it. Against control/combo (especially the Approach deck), we often are looking for what to play since sideboarding all removal makes a big hole to fill. It's cool to bring in Commit as you know you will always find a use for it.

I have been facing more midrange than aggro since the Marvel ban, so no need for Push, I've added a Magma though.

EastsideRock Comments on reddit and a variety of other sites says it is an instant, and I have also zoomed in to look at the type. It starts with 'I' and doesn't end in 'y', so I don't think its a sorcery.

Okay cool! Also what do you think about the new card Abrade? Do you think it'll take the place of Harnessed Lightning in the main? Only downside I can see for switching them out is the scaling of energy used from casting Glimmers and such.

Illuminate21 Dayummmm! Well, I'm excited! At 7 CMC I don't we will run that many copies but it's still a crazy powerful effect!...and I can't wait to opponent-EOT draw 7, and then during opponent's next turn draw 7 again with Hulk. Why? Well, because we can!

MattN7498 It is a cool card. The split between the 1 and 2 CMC removal cards will be adjusted depending on what we face but I would be surprised if we didn't end up at least running 1. Abrade, Supreme Will, PWs, reanimation targets, digging....seems like we will have to make hundreds of choices per game in the next format! Choices are good, adaptability through flexibility is dope.

Now that the "God's Last" cycle is confirmed, Ima start testing out the As Foretold deck and see how it goes, starting with Esper Control. I reckon being able to go back to 20 life for 0 mana could be pretty decent. :P

I said in a comment earlier that the Beetle God will be the Dimir god. Its actually a Scarab, I just said Beetle bcs I had no idea what it was then lol

Wow Locust God is pretty cool! 6-mana without affecting the board is pretty high-risk but against decks that can't exile (if they are top tier) it could be a good option.

EastsideRock We may have to go Grixis-White. That new 2W Enchantment Solemnity is absolutely bonkers as a SB card. Hoses Energy and any counters matter decks. Kills Ballista too. Only issue is that we would need other sources of White mana besides Aether Hub.

Onahail says... #16

Also, what do you think about Crook of Condemnation as a replacement for Scarab Feast?

June 20, 2017 2:55 p.m.

EastsideRock says... #17

Onahail Blasphemy! There is no way in hell that I'll ever venture out of strictly Grixis colors! Also, just for the sake of argument, it's nearly impossible with the current lands available to run 4-colors, especially without Green being one of them!

Crook of Condemnation is a cool tool but what I like about Scarab is that you can surprise the opponent and cast it AFTER they chose their target which very often completely screw their line of play and usually results in a blowout. However if a very dedicated graveyard sees the light of play, definitely this will be the go-to tool, but as it stands Scarab only comes out VS opposing Hulk/GDDs and some zombie decks, which is relatively speaking not that often.

EastsideRock Im sorry I have to tell u this with 3 months away from Ixalan, but I reckon this is too good, so I gotta tell ya.

.

Turn six: Play The Locust God

Turn seven: Get an insect for drawing. Play the Insight card from Ixalan, draw 7 and get 7 1/1 hasty flyers. Swing for 12 in the air.

.

Or possibly even better:

Turn seven: Get the insect. Swing for 5 with Locust God and insect. End of opponents turn, cast the Insight. Draw 7, make 7 insects.

Turn eight: Get the insect. Torrential Gearhulk the Insight, draw 7, get 7 insects. Swing for 20.

.

Thats what I'v figured out so far, this Locust God is really good, so figure out how to best use it. I didn't originally realize that the insects have haste, but they do, so take advantage of it! xD

Illuminate21 LOL, the Insight card was also the first thing that popped in my mind when I saw the Locust. This line of play would be the dream (if unanswered) but we wouldn't be able to consistently get to it unless we run at least 3 copies of each card, which would be way too all-in for my taste! While I foresee still running 3 Hulks, I don't think I will run more than 2 Insights copies in the 75, as for Locust he is really sweet but a 6-mana drop without affecting the board immediately is way too risky (even if you get him back, you will severely tempo yourself out if he gets killed right away), I don't think I would more than 1 copy in the 75.

But if you are really interested in dedicating a full build-around with Locust, certainly the way to go will be with 4x Fevered Visions and full of counterspells!! ;)

I tested with Final Reward to take care of Gods, Ula, and Gideons but 5-mana with no other upsides was just too mana-intensive. Now do have a look at this Hour of Glory though! Seems like Wizards are printing as lot of answers this time around!

Fuuuckkk. There was a 4 cost grixis mana rock spoiled that lets you tutor for a Bolas planeswalker. Problem is it specifically says Nicol Bolas, the Deceiver, that garbage PW deck Bolas. There is a 2/1 flyer for 2 that you can sac to destroy a creature when you cast any Bolas PW though. IDK how useful it would be though.

TheBooman says... #22

Okay this may just be a flavor thing but I may just have 1 of each forgotten god in SB for the ultimate bolas deck.

Anyways I am back and Gotta say, These spoilers look legit. My bet it the Scarab god will be the best of the 3, as his staff alone is Supreme Will

June 21, 2017 6:53 p.m.

MadLuckKing says... #23

I think the Locust god is cool and all, but seeing that Kalitas is the only thing we are willing to play with the chance of loss of tempo, i feel a six mana creature is too much tempo loss if removed right away.

Hour of glory looks amazing though I'll definitely be playing that when it comes out.
