Nice list upvoted :) can I ask why you choose to run storms fury and not the dragon Lord.

Frostknife, you could use the KTK lands instead of the temples Dismal Backwater and Swiftwater Cliffs.

Kruxis, thx! Fury is the ideal finisher when Drifting is on the battlefield, dashing-in for 11 flying damage while making opponent's creatures -2/-2! I have a copy of the Dragonlord in the SB but he's really just there against decks running playsets, he doesn't protect himself which makes him not that great, but ok as a 1-of against some decks only.

Wussup yall!! So I've been testing this week and I really like the list as it is for now. I've won at least half my matches VS G/R Devotion which is really cool to say!! No one is safe from the Drifting Death + Storm's Fury Elesh Nornin 11 flying damage ass-whipping!!

Languish has been doing some good work, it is great in combination with Drifting Death and Bile Blight. I love the fact that I can customize the sweeper suite between Anger, Languish and Crux, usually always running about 5 copies regardless of the mix. Since our sweepers are so efficient, I might eventually replace a Bile Blight from the SB for something else. Not quite sure yet.

Jace is also decent and worst case scenario he's just 2 mana investment so it's almost never a bad thing to topdeck him! I do think the 2-2 split with Anticipate is a good decision since sometimes you really gotta dig and Jace only lives a full turn about half the time.

I haven't been really needing Tasigur yet, but I think that's mainly because I didn't face many Abzan decks lately, I'll keep him in the SB for now.

I know I had a little mana problem after some of the first ORI changes I made, thx FYREKNIGHT for pointing that out, but I did a few tweaks (see July 20th update) and am currently satisfied with the mana base - although more awkward than our previous DTK list, it is now slightly better since most of the time only one red mana is what we need.

Well I was just talking about it; SB: -1 Bile Blight, +1 Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver

I've been looking for rulings for silumgar, the drifting death and cant find the ruling saying you give the opponent -2/-2 when you attack with another dragon, could someone explain it to me or maybe give me a link where it is explained? Greatly appriciate it!+1 from me, thou slightly confused!

The opponent's creatures are the only things affected by Silumgar, the Drifting Death. The opponent his/herself is not affected in any way.

i was just thinking of chandra, exquisite firecraft, some kolaghans commands and maybe either that new one mana conditional bolt for creatures or lightning strike with jace's flashback and also abuse keranos before he rotates out.it just allows you to go into kinda like a burn control for games two and three. just a thought for now, but definitely would want to break this out.what do you think ?

HSF117 that i understand, i just cant understand why EastsideRock says -2/-2 your opponent

HSF117 says... #9

Comment #74 EastsideRock says creatures so if it says just opponent's anywhere else then I would disregard it because it may just have been a typing mistake.

HSF117 My bad, I do mean my opponents creatures, not my opponent him/her-self. How does Silumgar, the Drifting Death give my opponents creatures -2/-2 with another dragon attacking? Does the -1/-1 stack with the numbers attacking dragons or what?

July 23, 2015 6:44 a.m.

EastsideRock says... #11

Enroe and HSF117, thx for commenting by! Regarding the confusion;
1- Indeed, I had poorly worded it in the description! It's not affecting the opponent himself, but his creatures.
2- Yes the -1/-1 triggers stack up for EACH dragon attacking! Same for Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury's triggers which are even more degenerate because having 2 dragons attacking gets both of them +2/+0 which kinda actually feels like 4 triggers because the end results is getting a +4/+0 advantage across your 2 dragons. This goes on exponentially i.e. 3 dragons that all get +3/+0, etc...

July 23, 2015 8:58 a.m. Edited.

HSF117 says... #12

As long as Silumgar, the Drifting Death is in play, each dragon that attacks will individually give -1/-1 to defending player's creatures. So for example, if you attacked with 4 dragons, the defending player's creatures would get -4/-4 so yes it stacks.

Riensino, great idea, there is probably a kind of Izzet control-burn deck that could be made with the cards you mentioned!

EastsideRock HSF117 Thanks for the clarification! Waiting on some cards to build this deck and crush my friends :)

Is this deck working for people? I have been building a grixis dragon deck, which my local shop owner keeps saying it's too slow, it won't work in this meta, blah blah. I'm not big on just copying everyone else, There's always a way to win with any deck. I feel like this is pretty slow though and I started adding more red with quicker dragons like Thunderbreak Regent and Icefall Regent, also considering Stormbreath Dragon and Draconic Roars. The problem with these quicker dragons though is that your own Languish kills them so I took out the languishes. Still testing and still not sure where to go with this kind of deck right now. Not a huge fan of Bile Blight right now, rather use Hero's Downfall I think. And Stubborn Denial has saved the day a few times, but other times it can be useless.

Slowgod Do yourself a favor, go test it on cockatrice, and let me know! Spoiler alert, this deck can beat pretty much anything, from burn to R/G devotion, Abzan decks, to control mirrors. No kidding, pretty consistent as well. It might take you a few matchups to learn to play it optimally but once you do, you'll see that it is really strong. I wouldn't be constantly updating the deck and playing with it if it didn't win. Screw people, Play Grixis.

EastsideRock haha, awesome man! Yeah I love this type of deck and also playing the "underdog". I have just about everything except Jace, is he a big game changer in this deck, and do you ever find that 4 drifting deaths is too many? I'm just running 2. I will try something like this at a local tourney this week -Jace and maybe a few other slight differences.

...on another note, if you look the list I had prior to ORI, you'll see that I was running pretty much all the cards you mentioned, however Languish is the new boss in town so byebye most red cards. I thought I'd miss them but actually don't really, I love how the deck plays now, basically U/B control with a splash of red for Kola and powerful SB cards. Trust me you'd rather have 2-mana blights most of the time, as many decks are running playsets, they are also awesome in combination to Silumgar's ability and Languish. Heroe is obviously great, but not against every deck, I mostly board them in against other PWs, or VS uber fat dudes like Atarka.

Slowgod - Silumgar is really the essential ''unremovable'' threat of the deck, after he's on the board, you're just a 5-mana dash away to swing for 11 in the air with Kola. Since ORI, I started with 3, but quickly moved to 4. Also, keep in mind that having enough dragons is really important for Scorn and Tongue. Jace is great but perhaps not essential, I think quite decently replaceable with 2 more Anticipates, like I had in the deck all through DTK. Cheers! (I guarantee you have never played with a strong underdog like this, I certainly haven't either, feels so much better than Mardu or Esper Dragons, try it out and let me know!)

Slowgod says... #22

Thanks for the info, I may try with 2 Dragonlord Silumgars and 3 Drifting Deaths and perhaps just keeping Dragonlord Kola in mainboard since everyone seems to have 3-4 copies of their favorite creatures. I'll let you know how it goes. Cheers!

Alright made a copy of your deck and edited a couple things, I just sniped 2 Jaces so I added them in, but may just keep 1. I feel like it's really heavy on double black mana spells, but we'll see how it goes. Added a couple 1 ofs for that extra option. Lemme know what you think of my changes if you got a minute :)GrixisDragons1.0

List seems pretty solid! I do really recommend the second copy of Urborg though, really really works wonders to have one of your 3 colors fixed for the rest of the game, and turning fetches into swamps matters a whole lot more than it seems!

I'd run one "new" Kolaghan in the main board. He's really, really dumb if they don't get to answer it. It's just stupid when their second Ojutai turn from a solid chance to win the game into a dead card.
