Good point EastsideRock. I might still give it a shot just to see how often he actually works. Gonti is another one I've never considered. Might have to pick him up!

Alright ppls, I'v tested out the little combo with Marionette Master and the treasure tokens from Ixalan cards, and I'v got to say, it might actually be competitive. The only problem I found with the deck is that you may need to replace great cards with some good to decent ones, but I honestly think its worth it when your trying to win.
In one of my games against Dino's I was at 6 life and the opponent at 19 or something like that. At the beginning of the game I was mana screwed , however thanks to my Treasure Map flipping and the Treasure Tokens, I was able to stabilize a bit more with a boardwipe and some counters; specifically Spell Swindle , giving me total of 6 Treasure Tokens at the time.
The next turn I drew Marionette Master, which I immediately played. After sacing 5 of my Treasure Tokens I won the game. While this might seem like a bit of a fluke I am convinced that Marionette Master can make a competitive control deck given the right tools and stuff to use, and we might get some better stuff with some more spoilers to come.
One last thing that I wanna mention is how good The Scarab God is with Kitesail Freebooter. In another game my opponent was trying to draw a card to win him the game, but since I had a couple of Kitesail Freebooters in my graveyard, I would just reanimate it with The Scarab God at the beginning of their main phase to snatch the card. Yes it only really takes a non creature card, but it was still very good! It was also really good since I got a 4/4 flyer to attack with the next turn.
Btw EastsideRock, congratz on the 400 upvotes, good job m8!

Guys, check out sword-point diplomacy. 2B sorc for a 3 card draw unless opponent pays 3 life for each card.

I haven't changed the deck much since I started testing it, but it should give you a rough idea of how the deck works.

Illuminate21 I usually am one of the first to shy away from these durdly type decks, but I have to admit that it doesn't look like it's going to be hard to drop Marionnette, have it 4-power and sac 5 artifacts...Keep in mind that reanimating him with Scarab will put him at 4, while creating 3 servos to sac...With all that said, I won't be the one going for this deck though!
doraemon1088 The Sword-Point card got me confused lol, is it good? Am I suppose to like it? One thing's for sure, GDD would have loved to re-cast that one :( - I think the potential is still there, I will keep it in mind.

Finally a cheap and efficient way to somewhat deal with enchantments and other resilient things like Gods, PWs...hmmmm seems like hand disruption will be even more worth it!

...we had access to Winds of Rebuke but the scry 2 thing puts it way over because VS aggro in early game is just what we need to stall them and dig for lands/sweepers, etc.

I think Perilous should be a 2-of in the deck. That scry thing's hard to pass up.

Remember we won't be able to use Lay Bare the Heart on Planeswalkers...They are legendary now!

The best ways to get rid of Planeswalkers would be by either making them discard it with Duress or exiling it with Vraska's Contempt. At least I think those r the best options.

Facebeater Good point! We'll just have to Duress or Vraska's Contempt them :D

Fuck yeah!! It's been going really good in the last 4 hours, I didn't lose much!! I tweaked my original list a bit and now it's going awesome. I just grinded a bunch of matches with a worthy Dino opponent who said he only lost twice today and it was to this deck! :D
I love the Harsh Scrutiny and and Essence Scatter because a lot of peeps are banking on midrange (as expected). I had no choice but to run extra stuff VS Tyrrant because he's everywhere. Star and Bontu have been answering it quite easily, so has Gifted Aetherborn trading against him and just losing us 2 life in the process (6 CMC for them VS 2 CMC for us)!!!...
Search of Azcanta is insane, while compass is kinda stale. I think I will double up on the Search.
Haven't tried Hostage yet but Spell Swindle is amazingly tasty, people have been comparing it to Plasm Capture but that's just fucking silly....for once thing 3UU is a lot easier than UUGG, and of course you get to keep the artifacts around for whenever you need, literally often DOUBLING your mana base for a further back-breaking OP play (like dropping Scarab and start the rallying up 4/4s).
Unliscenced is back to 3 copies and doing a lot of work. Vraska's Contempt is well...doing what it's supposed to.
The deck is more pure-controlly. We only have 6 win-cons compared to 10-12 in the last few metas. So get ready for some super grindy games!!

I was thinking about playing tempo pirates since spoilers started because I am a HUGE fan of pirates, but, alas, I just don't think I can part with control. It looks like this will be a fun meta!
Couple things, is gifted aetherborn really that good? And why no lightning strikes?
But every draft I'm totally forcing pirates, I'm also building commander with Admiral Beckett Brass as my general.

OMG I just realized search for azcanta says you may flip it, so you can have one flipped and use the second one as a "gravescry" every turn. Man that's a good card.
Sorry for double posting.

RecklessN7 The problem is that if he gets killed right away we lose too much tempo. With that kind of mana we would rather spend it to kill 1 or 2 things and/or dig/draw. After that, even if he does connect, doesn't mean you have something to play from hand or that you want to play it now. I could see him in a UR build-around with lots of burn but I doubt it would even be worth it.
