Scrolling back up all the way to +1 is tough with over 90 comments...

Any budget Jace replacements? 40 bucks, even for an easy flipping, drawing/discarding pre-pubescent planeswalker seems kind of daunting.

Haha yeah man, 2 anticipates should do the trick! (That's what I took out to put him in).

suislecalme sorry had forgotten to reply you before I reset the discussion. Old Kola yes can be awesome, but with no way to protect himself, I'd rather only run him VS decks that run playsets and preferably dont have much removal such as VS R/G devotion.

So I won my round vs R/G devotion (exact copy of the deck that won in Chicago) then got slaughtered before I could do anything by stupid mono red. I had really bad hands both times though, couldn't get any sweepers or even a foul-tongue to gain some life. How have your results been against mono red and what's best to swap out to combat it?

Slowgod, although mono-red can be one of the toughest match-ups, it's very winnable, basically you need stabilize before they take you lower than 8-10 lives. Usually 2x Anger and extre Blight come in for sure, I also like extra Ashiok as a cheap threat that creates a diversion to their plan. If they are running the version with Hordeling Outburst and Rabble, Plague will be very good. Against red decks with more gas to the top of their curve, Tasigur can be a decent option. Downfall although usually not the most efficient VS mono red, can also be an option if they are running Sarkhan. Dragonlord Kola can actually be good too to seal the deal if they are running a lot of playsets (like the decks we just saw at the pro tour).
The first cards to take out would be Dragonlord Silumgar, 1-3 young Kola, 1-2 Crux, and then start shaving card draw/counterspells although I really avoid to do that.
I haven't played that much games against Exquisite Firecraft, but if it becomes too much of a problem, I'm keeping Infinite Obliteration in mind.

Frostknife, If I feel I would need an extra Foul-Tongue, Wounds could take a slot, but haven't faced any really problematic G/W/x at this time in the Meta, and all the other sideboard feel more important for now (Keranos being the least important, but which I'm perhaps thinking to eventually replace with a Kola Command VS thopters or Infinite Obliteration as mentioned above VS Exquisite Firecraft).

Yeah I played against the goblin version, and had virulent plague, 2 anger of gods, didn't have any scouring sands or drown in sorrows that would have also helped. I just didn't draw anything to clear his board, even turn 4-6 when I was barely surviving a languish coulda really helped, oh well. I'm trying my own weird black/red creation this week, expecting to see mega red aggro pro copy decks.

Seems like you were properly equipped, bad draws happen to the best of us! Cool, let me know when you complete your Rakdos deck, I'll surely check it out! Can't wait to face this new RDW! I'll you guys know how it went, and if I chose to bring Obliteration to the SB.

Yeah, people won't expect this R/B deck after what I played last week. It's definitely faster. Here's a rough theorycraft of it if you feel like taking a look and suggesting anything. I think it may be a little heavy on the burn at the moment. Grixis is still the best though R/B Control Burn Outlast
August 3, 2015 12:36 p.m.
I made a few small tweaks to my Grixis deck and completely wrecked copies of the mono red pro tour decks. I won 6 in a row and never even used anything from my SB, which would have made me win even more ;)

Slowgod way to go!!! Grixis too strong and nobody found it, let's start our own team - I suggest team Grixis - and start wrecking tourneys lol!!

Sounds good to me! I'm extremely pleased with the deck right now. Mainboarded a Drown in Sorrow and Anger of the Gods (might MB another drown) some Seismic Ruptures, Arc Lightning and Scouring Sands on the side. Just pure aggro hate \m/

wow the deck looks really good, but I must admit I think your making a mistake by running 0 hand attack spells in your 75. I understand not running Thoughtseize in the main due to the overwhelming power of aggro decks in the meta, but I guarantee that donating 3-4 slots in your SB to Thoughtseize and/or Duress will do wonders for you. In addition, if your meta is like mine, overrun with variants of burn, then I would like to recommend a 1 of Orbs of Warding for the SB. It shuts down Siege Rhino, Shaman of the Pack, Sphinx's Tutelage, hand attack, and burn. There is more than enough room for these sideboard adjustments, your currently donating 5 slots to alt win cons, which is a bit overkill, and both Rending Volley and Swan Song seem a bit lack luster right now. Just a few things to consider. (O_O)

AndrewAckerman: Orbs of Warding does not shut down anything Siege Rhino does.

AndrewAckerman thx for the comment and suggestions. People often suggested hand disruption but I never liked it in testing because I always felt it was weaker than all the other cards, and often a blank when topdecked in late games VS grindy matchups. Now, I might eventually test again with some in the SB but still not sure. As for Orb, I like it a lot, I'm thinking it might get a spot eventually mainly VS mill, Elves are not that of a big deal, and FYI it does not prevent loss of life from the Rhino. It's true that Volley has been less essential since I rarely face Ojutai anymore, but I do like having the one-mana counterspell VS many decks, especially control.

I wasn't a huge fan of Thoughtseize at all, whenever I tried it in this deck it seemed to just take a copy of something they already had another of in hand or a couple turns later and then I was down 2 life. Maybe it's because I play at least 1 RDW per tournament, sometimes 2 and losing an extra 2 life doesn't help. Sadly I kind of ditched my Grixis deck for a G/R See the Unwritten OTK deck which is just nasty and once I throw some new Eldrazi in it will be even more unfair.

Slowgod Thank you for you input on Thoughtseize, but shame shame shame on you for ditching Grixis!! G/R is the devil!! Well GREEN is the devil!! RETRO SATANA!!!!
August 19, 2015 11:04 a.m.
I know it is very shameful, the decks don't share any cards except maybe a couple in the SB, so I can have both ready to go at any time. Also I think I would MB a couple Kolaghan's Commands at this point with all the artifacts running around plus it has the force your opponent to discard effect or deal 2 damage to their stupid little aggro minion

Really cool deck, +1. You may want to reset comments so people don't have to scroll so far to comment, and it looks like many of the discussed suggestions have already been implemented. Will definitely be play testing this, looks fun and strong
