You might want to consider Ritual of Soot here, as well as of course Guildmage's Forum if you really are keen on using Chromium, the Mutable as you will need something to replace Aether Hub. (I’m not sure if you would ever want to ever do this lol, but there’s always the option now of running Chromatic Lantern to help out your mana base too).
Have you ever considered Nezahal, Primal Tide much for your sideboard? It’s much easier to cast than chromium.

_Delta_ The beauty of Chromium is that yeah I could run Hubs + one Glacial Fortress and it didn’t disturb my mana-base. Without hubs, I’m pretty sure Chromium will go. Still not sure about my main wincon, sucks to lose Blue Hulk and Scarab but I have no fear, I’ll surely find other win cons. Nezahal is ok but without flash nor hexproof, it’s hard to protect, discarding 3 cards to save it is a huge loss of value.

Well Dream Eater and Doom Whisperer are looking like your best options besides maybe Nicol Bolas, the Ravager Flip.
I have to find new win cons for my 2 standard decks also. My control loses of course Approach of the Second Sun, and then my other deck needs a complete overhaul as all of the counter related stuff like Winding Constrictor, Verdurous Gearhulk etc.
While mine hasn’t been around as long as yours, I have been playing a deck in various forms since Kaladesh now also lol. Was around delirium, then energy/counters, now it’s becoming either aristocrats with Vraska, Golgari Queen and the like or simply a midrange good stuff deck with maybe cards like Doom Whisperer, or others like Ghalta, Primal Hunger, Steel Leaf Champion etc.

Some other, more out-there stuff to consider for the wincon pool is using additional copies of Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh and Ral, Izzet Viceroy for their respective burn abilities.
September 15, 2018 4:53 p.m.
But Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh rotates however Feltrix.

Even if Nicol Bolas, God-Pharaoh is rotating, he will always be in our hearts... :P
Just a side note, I'v played a game or two already with some new GRN cards and found Surveil can be VERY good at filtering your deck. One game my opponent had 35ish cards left in their library, and I had only 10 xD

With all that said, I'm not TOO worried about finishers. They are usually the least important piece in our decks - technically if the removal and draw are good enough, you can kill someone in 20 turns with a Storm Crow...as control players we have all the time in world don't we! :P
I really like Dream and Doom, but without flash/hexproof we need to make sure to get enough value when dropping them and tapping out - and/or NEED to protect them at all times after that...remember that Scarab God is currently in that slot, and he is arguably the best creature of the past year!...Obviously the God recurrence factor played a huge part in it. Unless we get a solid ''5-color'' land like Hub, I will surely drop Chromium, otherwise we'll just have to see, I'm excited!! FULL SPOILER can't come fast enough :/

The more I contemplate Doom Whisperer, the more I think: how is this not gonna be a 4-of in every deck running black! He sure is cray-cray! His ability is SO good matched with card-draw. I wonder how much life we will be able to afford to lose with him on average per game. Perhaps maxing out on him and cheap counters like Negate will be more than enough to secure most games. Boy oh boy will it be costly to get that playset, but meh you gotta what you gotta do! :D
I'm getting psychologically ready to drop both Chromiums and main 4 Dooms and 2 Dream Eater (that one DOES have flash :D), and most of the time surveil 4 + a bounce effect will be well worth the cast at EOT.
Ok I'm ready, let me get the cards already, TAKE MY MONEY!!

Oh yeah and since we will incidentally surveil, I can very well see us running a bunch of Thoughtbound Phantasm in the side against aggro. They will lead to amazing blowouts at a low investment! :D
September 17, 2018 1:15 p.m.
Hey EastsideRock, did you see the card Unmoored ego? It’s a Lost Legacy essentially but with more targets. It now hits artifacts and even any lands.
On a side note, I honestly despise this card because of it’s implications for my modern deck that plays Urza's Tower and the like...

_Delta_ Although I probably won't run this in Standard, I will surely run it in Modern against Tron lolll....:D :D

I’d like to introduce you to possibly my favourite card from this set (This, Lazarv, or any cool Dimir card tbh ;3)
Etrata, the Silencer
2UB
Legendary Creature - Vampire Assassin
Etrata, the Silencer can't be blocked.
Whenever Etrata deals combat damage to a player, exile target creature that player controls and put a hit counter on that card. That player loses the game if they own three or more exiled cards with hit counters on them. Etrata's owner shuffles Etrata into their library.
Don’t hesitate to run 4x of this Legendary creature btw >:3

I think Crackling Drake will actually be quite strong - 4 toughness means that it won't be hit by most burn removal, and it replaces itself. I'd have a look at that if I were you.
Thief of Sanity I think will be bonkers in the board, maybe even main depending on the meta.
Finally, I think you're sleeping on what will be the strongest finisher/s in the deck - Ral, Izzet Viceroy and Firemind's Research. Both get stronger for the instants and sorceries you play, and both are game-winning if protected. They are also harder to deal with than creatures, for obvious reasons.
The one thing I'm worried about at the moment is a sweeper, other than that I think we're actually fairly good. Plus I think you could probably run Deafening Clarion and/or Chromium off a few Field of Ruin, one Plains and maybe a shock or something.

Illuminate21 Etrata is pretty cool and the effect is quite powerful but without any value on ETB and no self-protection, it could be a little short of playability. Definitely will keep my eyes on it for sideboard potential though.
eragon795 Drake is pretty cool, I will keep it in mind. Thief is cool and probably would shine more in grindy matchups, problem is that his stats are too weak to be a finisher and his ability can't guarantee exiling cards we want to be casting (exemple VS aggro or combo decks, depending on meta ofc). Ral looks pretty solid, I do think I will have a copy or two in the deck. I don't think I will go the Firemind path, but a U/R deck full of counter/burn would want this. Running white will probably be very very last resort. I don't see running 4 copies of a land like Hub, we will probably want to bank on the superb consistency that 12 shocks and 12 check lands in our colors will bring us. I'm 90% sure I'm dropping white again, although Clarion looks like my fav boardwipe atm.

Wuddup wuddup yall, first draft is freshly up! Will update my Cockatrice and take it for a spin :)
September 19, 2018 4:02 p.m.
I'm not crazy about Hypothesizzle, 4x Chemister's Insight is a few too many in my opinion, and I like Sinister Sabotage and Ionize better than Syncopate. I'd add a third Search for azcanta . Maybe try Nicol Bolas, the Ravager Flip? Still, fun deck.
September 19, 2018 6:12 p.m.
I'd be curious to see how Nightveil Predator does to sideboard in against control decks. It dodges both Ritual of Soot and Citywide Bust as well as having hexproof. It won't kill anyone quickly, but that won't happen in a control mirror anyway.

Feltrix Good observation! I'll add him to maybe. So far so good in testing.
Initial thoughts: Surveil in nuts, jumpstart on Chemister's Insight is a dream, Ral is REALLY solid, Ritual of Soot is better than I thought (I just loved Suns so much ^^), Mission Briefing and Doom Whisperer are well... as awesome as we all thought!

Feltrix Hadn't seen your first message. Hypothesizzle is fine, but not a must (swapping with Ral from the side for now) especially with 4 Chemister Insights, which I think is a good number, might bump down to 3 since jumpstart is so easy to activate, but will continue testing with 4 copies for now. A hard counter like Sabotage will always be ''better'' than conditional counters but Syncopate has been performing extremely well for months and is even better this time around with Mission Briefing, countering stuff early game is very relevant and so is the exile clause. I'm not forseeing running Ionization at all, not unless I max out on Sabotage before. Bolas is fine but on the creature side, a 4-mana discard a card really sucks if he gets removed...my tap-out choice goes to Doom Whisperer for this meta.

Hi, I'm trying to follow your deck I am wondering how can we counter Carnage Tyrant, Nullhide Ferox and Vine Mare.
September 20, 2018 1:48 p.m.
Hello, first i love your list, i want to play a similar list for the first GP GRN.
What do you think about Detection tower (for Hexproof deck) and i have a question, no essence scatter ? Have you got an advice for Ionize ?
Thanks for answer.
September 20, 2018 2 p.m.
Hello! I'm working on a similar list ( Grixis Control ) and I wanted to hear your thoughts on Expansion // Explosion. Specifically, the Explosion half. It reminds me a lot of Sphinx's Revelation back in RTR which led to the engine that became the UW control deck that time round. I'm just getting back into standard so if you have any suggestions for fine-tuning my deck, I would appreciate that as well.
Cheers!

jzie25 I will answer Tyrant first, since he's the real nemesis of the format. The ways we have to deal with him are 4 Thought Erasure, 2 Phyrexian Scriptures, 3 Unmoored Ego, or by throwing one of our three Doom Whisperer in front. Actually, I found that when Doom is facing a Tyrant, they are usually reluctant to attack for a few turns, which is already pretty good! Then if they decide to risk to trade, I'm usually happy to do it and move on! For Vine Mare, all the previous ways also work and you can add throwing one of our 2 Dream Eater in front of it. Regarding Nullhide Felix, obviously we don't want to ever use Thought Erasure on them, but we can pay 6 to exile them with Vraska's Contempt or Price of Fame.
Vhysere Thank you much! Hope you do well in the GP, please let us know how it will go. Detection Tower is definitely an option worth keeping in mind, I'm still waiting to see how many Hexproof threats I will face on a daily basis but sure if I'm loosing to many games to it, I will add a few Towers to the side, probably replacing Stroke and Price. Ionization is ok but less good than Sabotage for us, so I wouldn't run any unless I wanted more than 4 hard counters. Regarding Essence Scatter, it is a fine a card but I chose to run Negate instead because we have a lot of ways to deal with creatures but close to no ways to deal with resolved enchantments/artifacts.
Lord007 Explosion would only matter in control or grindy matchups, and even if the meta becomes very slow, I think that there would be better options than that. Looks like a fun a card, but not sure it is quite there for constructed.
