Yeah definitely thinking more and more about it, although Languish + Silumgar already annihilates them, even if the 5/5 flyer is indestructible.

!

Death to Green! Death to White! All hail Nicol Bolas and his dragon buddies!

Also, I find your lack of Draconic Roar disturbing. Maybe it can replace Bile Blight post-rotation?

I particularly like the two last comments! ALL HAIL BOLAS!!! SELESNYA must be obliterated from the faces of the multiverse!! There can only be peace and order through GRIXIS!!!

Andyroo987 I use to run more red cards MB including Roars, but took out all of them (save Kola) for early game consistency. I'm still eagerly waiting our new go-to spot-removal options from BFZ, they will come, trust they will come.

Not sure if you still check this and/or still play it, but I'm honestly wondering how worth it the tiny splash of red is besides fitting your ideal of playing Grixis. Wouldnt a splash of white instead objectively offer much more with Dragonlord Ojutai ?

Nathanaiel, Maindboard-wise young Kola is the finisher of this deck, this deck really wants to grind until you have a Silumgar on the board, and then drop a young kola for 11 flying damage while -2/-2 the opposing board, no decks is immune to that sort of carnage!....(yes unless turbo fog!...if it is even worth I mention it!)

Sideboard-wise, Anger is pretty important against fast decks like most mono-red supporting creatures.

But yes, Gixis is what I like so I'm always going to try and make it work. I have pleaded full Allegiance to BOLAS.

That's pretty damn awesome, but I'm still playing Esper these days, which this guy would still fit in perfectly. I really like how my "Win by life" deck looks even though it unfortunately has to be Abzan which is in itself a reason to never play it.

EastsideRock i got stoked looking at that and also the new Drana for a aggressive Grixis or even mardu, but definitely building a grixis eldrazi control. you have pretty much all the cards you need for it.

Riensino Definitely, full set is spoiled today, I'll be pondering at everything for the upcoming few weeks before I set my mind on a first BFZ-updated list.

After a day thinking about Sire of Stagnation, even though he comes with an amazing effect and that he dodges a few removal options, it is true that he does not have the means to protect himself. Whether he's included or not will depend entirely on the meta and what kind of removal people will be running, but if I can include him as a 1 or 2-of, I certainly will.

Talk to you guys on the other side of the previews!

Now BFZ updated!! so far GREAT in testing. MVPs are OB Nixilis which is INSANE drawing extra card or killing something every turn, AND tangos which is the best thing that could happen to our mana base. We are no longer victim to slow starts and we can deploy threats earlier (I also added a land which helps with that).

I'm a big fan. I was hesitant, but I play tested it and played it against some of my own decks. Silumgar + Kolaghan killed Hangarback Walker, then its thopters. I was able to Dig to find a Languish and an Ugin. Grixis won a few turns later.

September 29, 2015 4:25 p.m.

Hi, I have been a follower and big fan of the deck since I saw it in early DTK Standard, but never had the nerve to try it but has always been in the back of my mind.

Flashfoward to now, with rotation happening my current deck dies out (my own take on GB Constellation, heavy on Whip and spiced with Assault Formation), and my mind keeps jumping to this deck and thought why not?

Any tips for someone new to piloting the deck (and heavy control, my deck could sideboard into a controlling midrange shell with Lily Vess and Ugin coming in to work alongside GB Garruk)? Also what comes out out in games 2 and 3 when bringing the sideboard in?

A big +1 from me for the deck and thanks in advanced for the help :)

TheEpithet Bolas thanks you for joining the cult!

Indeed, the single most comment I usually get from people who have no clue about the deck is: you should cut 2-3 Silumgars and 2 Kolas.....they simply don't understand the power of Hexproof, stacked powerful dragon triggers, or powerful dragons-matter cards...THIS IS NOT an Ojutai deck!! We are very dependent on always running 7-8 dragons, since Scorn and Tongue (complementing boardwipes) are bonkers.

Thx for the input buddy, very glad to hear you actually took time to grind with it. ROCK N ROLL.

Knight_Amarylis Thx for following!

The meta is so new, and I have to do much more testing, but I'm sure glad to give you a few tips based on how the deck has been functioning in the last few months.

In game 1 you want to be as reactive as possible to your opponent. Your plays and reactions will largely depend on what you are facing. It comes down to being as efficient as you can be with the removal. Never tap out!! Always try to leave at least 1 blue source up, 2 is best (to represent Scorn)!! Opponents hate to run their threats into countermagic, and the more they wait, the best for us! Ideal early game plays are Jace or Anticipation to gather up some ammo to survive long enough. The first threat you want to land is Silumgar really, don't rush landing anything else if you don't have to (obviously Ob Nixilis can usually come down first if you drew him). From there you want to stablize the board and set up the dynamic-duo super bashapalooza!! Yes, time to deploy Kola and swing-in for 11 with both dragons, but make sure you leave mana-up!! They should be pretty handicapped from there! This would be kinda representative of a game 1!

Post board is usually less complicated since our sideboard covers a lot of angles. The gameplan always remain the same: survive long enough to deploy Silumgar, stabilize, then Kola them out! Don't make the mistake to board out too many dragons. You always want to have access to Scorn ASAP, and Tongue most of time (the meta is very creature based - yes except mill). By following my sideboard instructions in the description, you should have a good idea of what you should board-in.

Start like this, lemme know how it goes! Happy ass-kicking!

P.S: It can take some time to master the deck, but so rewarding once you do. Be patient! And if you are not used to pilot control decks, remember to be patient, and don't freak out over life total, life is merely an illusion. It doesn't matter if you are at 4 life and they are at 30 life after you soft-lock them!

Cool deck. +1 from me

what you think about Blighted Cataract and Blighted Fen ?

September 30, 2015 3:58 p.m.

EastsideRock says... #24

TheChosenHobbit Thx for the +1!!

I think they are decent (especially Cataract) but I'm not sure I have the place for them since running 3 colors. The mana-base IS much smoother with the tangos though, hmm I might test with one Cataract. Thx for bringing it up!

I run a very similar deck to this. Went 5-0 on FNM.

Only difference is I run 2x Kolaghan, the Storm's Fury and not 3 and a Dragonlord Kolaghan over the Silumgar purely on the basis of the haste, toughness is still 5+. It works nice with a Drifting death on a swing or a Storm's Fury that's already out if you don't dash.

Also run 4 Jace's found this very handy to recycle board wipes and anticipates.
