Dual Decks

Dual decks are my attempt to create a series of interesting casual decks, designed to be played against each other. The twist is that each dech is built using two separate creature tribes, and tied together with Maskwood Nexus which gives all creature types to all of your creatures. Each deck aims to show off both the strengths of its tribes, as well as a few famous MtG combo mechanics used in unusual ways. Each Dual deck is 61 cards, with the last card being an Un-card or playtest series card which is added for silliness, and can be removed if you prefer.

Summary

Angel Fungus seeks to answer the age-old question, "What if each of my creatures spawned another creature every turn?" It starts small, but eventually brings the full might of Selesnya to bear. Quite literally, as the creatures are technically all bears by the end.

This deck can vary wildly in cost and strength because of how many powerful angels WotC has printed. This version is meant to be balanced against the other Dual decks, which is why it's not running Baneslayer or Big Avacyn.

Opening hands

Utopia Mycon is best, but the deck has plenty of lands to get going without it. Don't be afraid to play a Selesnya Sanctuary and discard the land you returned to hand.

Combo Mechanic: Thallids

Most of the combo potential hangs off of the thallid mechanic. Thallids create their saprolings at instant speed, so you can save up spore counters until the moment you need them.

Combo Mechanic: Targeted Spells

Season of Growth mainly gives deck control from all the creatures you generate, but it can also be used to keep up tempo. Many of the deck's lands are also spells that can be used to draw 1 or even 2 cards if you have multiple seasons.

Small combo: Congregation at Dawn + Realmwalker

Along with Starnheim Aspirant, you can quickly assemble your engine by searching for and playing 3 creatures.

Small combo: Fists of Ironwood + Season of Growth

Just very good value early game. Don't worry about casting it on something small like a Utopia Mycon: the trample is just a bonus.

Final combo: Maskwood Nexus + Sporesower Thallid + Sporoloth Ancient

The ultimate fungus build. While the combo itself isn't overwhelming, there are many cards in the deck (like Giada) that can take advantage of the tokens.

Un-card: Do-It-Yourself Seraph

There is only one Artifact in the deck for this card to search for, since Roaming Throne has no effect unless it ETBs. This angel pursues the ultimate form of Changeling: to become a Maskwood Nexus yourself!
