I rely like it. I have always enjoyed the thought of a viable land destruction deck and have had a few attempts but was never quite happy. I like the way you have balanced ramp with thinning and using the ultimatums to give you your card advantage back.

I see your biggest problem as being overwhelmed with creatures. I might suggest PyroclasmMTG Card: Pyroclasm or SlagstormMTG Card: Slagstorm (over your spot removal and Caldera HellionMTG Card: Caldera Hellion) and this will also give you more incentive to play Beast WithinMTG Card: Beast Within (as has been discussed above) or otherwise use things like Garruk, Primal HunterMTG Card: Garruk, Primal Hunter or Master of the Wild HuntMTG Card: Master of the Wild Hunt to help balance out the creatures.

+1

Seems like a solid deck. Two things that came to mind were Tectonic EdgeMTG Card: Tectonic Edge, you could maybe find a spot for those, and perhaps try PutrefyMTG Card: Putrefy SB instead of the extra TerminateMTG Card: Terminate, it has a bit more reach.

Also, I don't know about Dual CastingMTG Card: Dual Casting versus ReverberateMTG Card: Reverberate. Verber has more reach, but Dual CastingMTG Card: Dual Casting has more potential to actually dual up your Ultimatum. Might be worth swapping around to playtest.

Looks like a fun deck.

I wish I knew enough about Extended that I could give actual advice, but I'm afraid I can't.

I just wanted to +1 this because I approve of what this deck is doing.

Ohthenoises that does seem like an option, especially since after a littlebit of land fetch and a cobra i do have 7 mana to gobble up, so ill put that on the list..

@cooknathan onthe note of PyroclasmMTG Card: Pyroclasm i dont think you noticed my 4x Jund CharmMTG Card: Jund Charm in sb haha..garruk seems like a nice idea but im still unsure of its rolein the deck other thandrawpower (which isnt bad)

at JasonD i dont think my manabase can handle Tectonic EdgeMTG Card: Tectonic Edge but this is just a hunch, ive never played with colorless cards yet but ill give it a try as a 1 of initially in playtest...PutrefyMTG Card: Putrefy will be put in sb over the 3rd term that seems like a good idea..

dorminjake hha thx for the +1 lol

Along the lines of dual casting, Chandra, the FirebrandMTG Card: Chandra, the Firebrand is a House. Doubling GSZ, Harrow, and of course your Ultimatums are all amazing

May 2, 2012 4:16 a.m.

nice idea! on a sideline, I'd like to introduce to you this deck by my friend. same concept on targeting lands to cause pain, but different effects altogether. Sadism at its best

I had an idea with ShatterMTG Card: Shattering anything with Liquimetal CoatingMTG Card: Liquimetal Coating but that requires Isochron ScepterMTG Card: Isochron Scepter. Okay back to main point, I do recommend Chandra, the FirebrandMTG Card: Chandra, the Firebrand for her abilities. I'm not too keen in running Goblin RuinblasterMTG Card: Goblin Ruinblaster. Maybe try giving up that for Chandra?

Comparing terminate and putrify, I'd take terminate over putrify anytime for 3 reasons. firstly your deck focus rarely deals with artifacts. we want to look at creature control and lands right? Secondly, I learnt that for removal spells, that extra 1 mana cost DO make a difference. either having an answer for that potential threat 1 turn earlier is extremely crucial; so when choosing removals and counters, consider if the mana cost worth it to what the card ability does.

I do realize the deck lacks in the push for a win condition. with the mana ramp like this, you may consider some Eldrazis like Ulamog, the Infinite GyreMTG Card: Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre or the smaller ones like Artisan of KozilekMTG Card: Artisan of Kozilek for fun :)

+1 for the deck idea! :D

I like it! +1 I run a GWU land control in casual, doesn't work so well without Jace so haven't updated it for extended. SlagstormMTG Card: Slagstorm is excellent board clear. If you're worried about keeping your own creatures around, Bonfire of the Damned MTG Card: Bonfire of the Damned has no drawback for you and with ramp you'll be able to wipe out an army of fatties pretty easily. For problems against burn, Tree of RedemptionMTG Card: Tree of Redemption might help since you can GSZ for it.

For the sideboard, I'd say add 1 Tree of RedemptionMTG Card: Tree of Redemption and maybe some spot artifact/enchantment removal like Ancient GrudgeMTG Card: Ancient Grudge and Beast WithinMTG Card: Beast Within. A couple Surgical ExtractionMTG Card: Surgical Extraction or MemoricideMTG Card: Memoricide can help guarantee you never see a problem card again.

If your goal is land destruction, I agree with a previous comment on Liquimetal CoatingMTG Card: Liquimetal Coating and using things such as the Phyrexian artifact breaker land. The thing is, you need more protection. I would suggest BloodghastMTG Card: Bloodghast as you are already running a lot of lands as he is the best bet to keep you fighting after all the spot removal. You have Black. Use it.

chandra seems liek a nice choice, ill w8 till i get home and have a chance to playtest.. Goblin RuinblasterMTG Card: Goblin Ruinblaster works great because in extended pretty much every1 runs a huge truckload of nonbasics (other than monocolored decks where i side them out), it also provides an extra body which im slightly running low on in the deck ATM> my current win-con is Rampaging BalothsMTG Card: Rampaging Baloths with all the land fall..but eldrazi legends arent a bad idea i guess...with all the deck thinning maybe a 2 of..im still unsure but it seems good...

Bonfire of the Damned MTG Card: Bonfire of the Damned seems like a great!..EPIC card even without miracle it seems insane haha..might replace Jund CharmMTG Card: Jund Charm with it in sideboard or as an initial 2/2 split.. against burn and boros Tree of RedemptionMTG Card: Tree of Redemption does seem liek a good card..ill put in on the list...

i dont really wanna go the Liquimetal CoatingMTG Card: Liquimetal Coating route because that would change the concept of the deck completely but yeah ppbloodghast]] can put out early pressure and wont be something i wont consider...thx guys!

Not sure on what exactly I would run for a list following your needs for the deck, but I feel Maelstrom PulseMTG Card: Maelstrom Pulse would be helpful if you are having problems with things such as delver where they had a main permanent that they win with.

sideboarding Witchbane OrbMTG Card: Witchbane Orb will help you against burn and mill decks that need to target you.

Sarkhan VolMTG Card: Sarkhan Vol might be a good addition because it will give you multiple options over multiple turns. (or at least take some damage away from you for a bit).

against agro decks, if they use little 1/1s such as goblins, I would suggest adding Norn's AnnexMTG Card: Norn's Annex or something similar to your sideboard.

hmmm i think i can go 2x Maelstrom PulseMTG Card: Maelstrom Pulse over the PutrefyMTG Card: Putrefy in sb and 1 Jund CharmMTG Card: Jund Charm

along with chandra baby sarkhan will be considered as A walker in the deck,

If you do go with eldrazi, Ulamog, the Infinite GyreMTG Card: Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre as a one of is nice but would probably not factor in games without Primeval TitanMTG Card: Primeval Titan and Eye of UginMTG Card: Eye of Ugin/Eldrazi TempleMTG Card: Eldrazi Temple.

Another thought I had...what do you think about putting in a few Snapcaster MageMTG Card: Snapcaster Mages? For flashback on your death bombs.

Vman says... #24

im unsure if i could make the mana work.. because then ide need out 1 island, 3 mountains 2 forests 2 swamps and 1 random mana for an ultimatum...but if the cobra is out it could work..

hmmm maybe after bording in Cruel UltimatumMTG Card: Cruel Ultimatum's that seems like a good idea, especially since that 1 really hurts in multiples... thx, ill find sb space

If you're having trouble against aggro then a little can't hurt, at first he might seem to be a little weak for Extended standards, but with some proper play he is a beast. Other decent aggro stoppers would be the Baloths: Obstinate BalothMTG Card: Obstinate Baloth - great overall and Leatherback BalothMTG Card: Leatherback Baloth(triple green tho, a bit painful for your deck) for all these Lightning BoltMTG Card: Lightning Bolt players to say gg. Adding Ob Nixilis, the FallenMTG Card: Ob Nixilis, the Fallen as an additional win-con might also seem like an interesting choice, he tends to do really well killing people when combined with fetch lands and HarrowMTG Card: Harrow. Might want a Kessig Wolf RunMTG Card: Kessig Wolf Run to help him get through in some cases tho aswell as making every mana creature dangerous in late game. It's not like you couldn't afford running a Primeval TitanMTG Card: Primeval Titan and 4 copies of Green Sun's Zenith MTG Card: Green Sun's Zenith instead. In the end what you want to do is getting your Cobras/Slimes/Baloths/Titans/Huntmasters.
