can't you use Diregraf Captain as a win con if you can splash blue? the changeling would be a zombie too :p

as an alternate you could splash in white for more removal and you could play Crib Swap too.

Temporal Extortion works well, its always a win/win. I tried this against my mono black modern swamp deck deck:back-in-black-12, it's a really good deck. +1

I've been trying to think of a way to sneak one or two in the sideboard. Would be fun along with Dash Hopes as an alternate to the combo against control heavy decks.

Knight of Infamy might make a nice recurring blocker/beater if you find a way to discard Hakkon.

This is funny, and I think the way you pulled slivers, changelings and knights together. +1 from me!

Since both the Changeling and Nameless Inversion are also Spirits, you can also sub out Blood Artist for Thief of Hope . While you won't get drain from sac'ing slivers, you can also use the soulshift to return any of the changeling cards to your hand. You can also have some more fun by adding Hivestone .
I would also swap out Korlash - While he is mana accel, he's not very good mana accel. Liliana of the Dark Realms or her respective shade whould be much better. If you splash green you get access to Mulch and Grisly Salvage

Not really intent on using life drain as my win condition. Hivestone seems interesting but it'd only turn the few creatures I don't want to sacrifice into slivers.
Korlash, Heir to Blackblade provides me with a big, hard to kill creature which is nice for games that run on a bit. Sure Liliana's more consistent at pulling land out of my library if she sticks around. With Korlash being the highest cost in the deck I'm not worried about it though.

Instead of Thoughtseize what about Inquisition of Kozilek ?
February 16, 2013 2:18 p.m.
That may very well accomplish what I'm after without the life loss, and I can afford the damn thing! I'll try it out for a bit and see how it goes. Thanks!

I've used it before in a mill deck to deal with the Eldrazi legends, then ended up replacing it with Leyline of the Void. With this deck, getting to 10 mana to pay the kicker on Sadistic Sacrament would rarely happen.
The Haakon, Stromgald Scourge + Basal Sliver + Skeletal Changeling + Bitter Ordeal combo allows me to trigger Gravestorm as often as I want and exile an entire library in one shot anyway. Plus it gets around most counters with the exception of Counterflux and Mindbreak Trap, maybe a few others.

Gotta love gravestorm :P One of my EDH combos works the same way with Sharuum the Hegemon and Phyrexian Metamorph .

That is a sweet abuse of SBAs and ETB triggers. I shall plus one your Sharuum deck myself!

Holy crap! This is just far too awesome. This is an easy win on turn 3/4 with a variant of mill. I like it.

While I wanted to leave the upvotes at 69 (teehee), this deck is too awesome.
October 10, 2013 6:57 p.m.
Thanks Nigeltastic! I guess this deck would be fitting to stay at 69 upvotes, but if you leave a good thing go too long it might get stale.
@TitansFTW: It's turn 4 at the earliest, under ideal conditions. Would have to go something like...
1 - Land, Inquisition of Kozilek on self, discard Haakon, Stromgald Scourge
2 - Land, Skeletal Changeling
3 - Land, Basal Sliver from the hand or Haakon from the grave
4 - Land, Sliver or Haakon, initiate gravestorm sequence, end with BB floating and tap the open land for Bitter Ordeal
What really appeals to me with this deck is its resilience to control. Unless someone's playing Syncopate or the like all they get out of countering me or killing off my combo pieces is stalling for a turn. Of course Basal Sliver 's the weakest of those links.
Fortunately my playgroup hasn't gone the way of Surgical Extraction , etc. to hose Haakon although I can always turn the discarding against them if need be. Mostly I don't see much graveyard hate from them although things changed a bit when I started playing a 4c Rites deck.

I made a deck on a different account (mtuchler) with exactly that in mind! check it out on my page.
