um... Sundial of the Infinite doesn't work the way you think it does. here's why:
Zirilan's ability would exile your card at the end of the turn, meaning during the clean-up step. What the Sundial does is it fast-forwards the turn to the very end, meaning it goes straight into end phase and clean-up after that. So essentially what you're doing is hastening their demise, because you're not actually skipping anything. You're just going straight to it.
And when it says "at the beginning of the next end step," that includes yours. So with Sundial, you just end the turn, and it becomes "the" next end step.

Hi. When the exile trigger of the beginning of the end step goes to the stack, i can in response activate the sundial and exile the effect in the stack. The trigger activates, than become exiled and the turn ends.

Noah5Reason yeah I just looked it up and after reading approximately six hundred pages of rules debates, I can only say... you're right. and that is one obscenely fucking confusing card.

IMO there are only two things in Magic that are more confusing than Sundial, and both of those are mechanics: banding and phasing

Oh well, phasing seems a funny mechanic to build around. Always dreamed a Taniwha edh deck. IMO banding is awful and i don't know if is still a supported mechanic

Very cool deck. So many things you can do too; great flexibility

Thanks Mucklarbert ! It is flexible and funny to play with and against it.

I'd run Spawn of Thraxes over Big Bo, personally. It's five damage from Bo as opposed to a lot more from the Spawn, especially late game.

canterlotguardian I see your point. Potencially Spawn of Thraxes can deal more damage then Bogardan Hellkite, but i am running only 20 mountains and I am not always able to have more then 5-6 mountains on the battlefield. On one side Spawn of Thraxes can deal a lot of damage in late game scenarios and is worth to have it when you have lets say 8 mountains. On the other side Bogardan Hellkite is consistent and it has flash and is very good to fetch in early game. I will playtest Spawn of Thraxes this weekend to see what to do. Thanks for commenting!

You should replace whatever you feel is your worst sac outlet with Conjurer's Closet. It and Sundial of the Infinite are the two best cards to pair with Zirilan of the Claw
I also recommend Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker

Hi sonnet666 , first of all thanks for commenting.
Conjurer's Closet was in from the very beginning. I felt it a bit slow not only for its cost, but also for its ability that triggers only at the beginning of the end step and it works on only one creature. Still it is a very good card and i think i should include it somehow. The deck has few sac outlets but i need them all. Do you have any suggestion on which card to replace that is not a sac outlet?
Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker is an amazing no-brainer, but still, in don't know what to cut to make room for it.

Cut Ward of Bones. With the number of artifacts and creatures you are likely to have in play, it's really only going to hinder enchantment focused decks, which are few and far between to begin with.
Scourge of Kher Ridges and Thunder Dragon do pretty much the same thing and Scourge has way more potential.

Really great build. I just started making an Atarka EDH deck and your build has given me some great ideas. Have you ever considered Stranglehold?

Wow! I'm building my own Zirilan deck (albeit a bit different from yours since it doesn't play as a heavy control deck) and love your build. I'll take some ideas from your deck since it seems to work so well.
Let me ask you though. Why are you running Madblind Mountain? Comes into play tapped and with all the shuffling you get from your commander do you really need it that much? Am I missing something?

Hey Thanks! You're right. Madblind Mountain is redundant with Zirilan's shuffling, and it proved to be slow and useless most of the times. I am going to remove it. Thanks for your feedback!

Welcome. Have you considered Spinerock Knoll instead? And if your meta so requires, Homeward Path?

My meta doesn't require a Homeward Path yet, but Spinerock Knoll is definitely a good replacement for Madblind Mountain . Thanks again

What is the average turn you can use Mox Opal? I'm looking for some fast mana for my Zirilan deck and it seems like it could be pretty good.

This is flat out the coolest looking mono red commander deck that I have ever seen. I personally love the card Conjurer's Closet, so I'm glad it's at least been mentioned as is considered, but my goodness this deck has interesting utility. The fact that you have a combo using Apocalypse is bloody awesome. This is definitely getting a plus one, and I'd plus three it if I could. I just wish I could see it in action
