Losing is fun!

This Commander deck is a development on a deck concept I've been wanting to build for a few years: a deck themed around the freeware game "Dwarf Fortress", if you haven't figured it out by now.

It's mono-red because, well, the only two Dwarf legends are a red card and a black card, and the black one wouldn't exactly leave me with a lot of card choices.

Save for the Duergar and a few classic Dwarves that I didn't think worked well with this deck it contains one of pretty much every Dwarf creature card ever released. It also contains other cards that add to the theme and playability:

-Various mining-themed cards such as Howling Mine and Strip Mine because that's what Dwarves do.

-Various towers such as Reliquary Tower and Urza's Tower as well as a Wall of Stone to represent megaprojects, because building a properly large aboveground construction in DF is a time and resource-consuming affair.

-Various lava/magma-themed cards, because the earth's lifeblood has been both boon and bane to many intrepid fortresses.

-A few traps/trap-themed cards, because Dwarves are rather paranoid of intruders - for good reason, as anyone who has suffered an ambush or siege in the game has learned.

-Various Equipment cards both legendary and "mundane", to enhance the deck's commander. Naturally, most of the weapons are axes.

-Magic's only red Badger card and a Shivan Dragon, to represent how hilarious the game's animal-training system can be as well as show off the most deadly enemies of dwarves! Sadly, due to the mono-red color of the deck the likes of elephants, carp, giant sponges (surprisingly, there is a sponge creature card!), Forgotten Beasts, and [SPOILERS] could not be represented. On the other hand, I did add a Darksteel Colossus to the list to represent Bronze Colossi.

-Various land-destruction and board-wipe cards, to represent the various magma-based superweapons that have been built in playthroughs of the game.

-Balduvian Trading Post and the artifact card Trading Post, to represent the mercantile tendencies of developed fortresses. The latter card also serves to populate the battlefield with unwanted Goat tokens ready for the slaughter. (Pity that it doesn't produce self-replicating Cats...)

EDIT SEP 2015: I really need to take some time to overhaul this deck design.
