Messing with your opponents was never so much fun! This deck aims to mill out the opponent, while hindering their ability to hit you or cast anything. Addressing threats from your opponent before spending resources to mill seems to be the best way to do this.
About the general - Circu, Dimir Lobotomist was chosen due to his ability to mill with almost any spell in the deck (excluding artifacts) without needing to do anything, unlike Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker or Szadek, Lord of Secrets who still need to hit the opponent to trigger their abilities. Get Circu out early and watch the cards in your opponents graveyard pile up.
Now that you know who is leading your army, its time to discuss the cards. As stated before, your main wincon is in milling their library, so lets talk about those cards first.
Your Milling Cards -
Creature Mills
Ambassador Laquatus
Belltower Sphinx
Circu, Dimir Lobotomist
Duskmantle Guildmage
Hedron Crab
Merfolk Mesmerist
Nemesis of Reason
Oona, Queen of the Fae
Riddlekeeper
Sewer Nemesis
=(comments)=
If you can, try to have Duskmantle Guildmage's first ability activated before you cast Traumatize, for a probable instant defeat (or very near to it). Sewer Nemesis will also be one of your strongest creatures power and toughness wise, especially if you choose your opponents graveyard and then cast traumatize. Ambassador Laquatus and Merfolk Mesmerist, like Circu, can activate their mill abilities without having to hit the opponent (provided you have the mana).
Sorcery Mills
Dreadwaters
Glimpse the Unthinkable
Memory Sluice
Mind Sculpt
Sanity Grinding
Tome Scour
Traumatize
=(comments)=
Traumatize will be your bread and butter spell in this deck. If you can, try to search for it with either Imperial Seal, Increasing Ambition, Diabolic Tutor or Liliana Vess. Glimpse the Unthinkable is also a good choice to search for after that.
Enchantment mills
Chronic Flooding
Curse of the Bloody Tome
Jace's Erasure
Memory Erosion
=(comments)=
Nothing really remarkable here. Most of this stuff is designed to make your opponent possibly think twice before doing something, which is always good for you =)
Instant Mills
Archive Trap
Brain Freeze
Dimir Charm
Grisly Spectacle
Psychic Spiral
Psychic Strike
=(comments)=
Archive Trap and Psychic Spiral are your power cards here. Cast Psychic Spiral late in the game to get the best benefit, and don't forget that you don't have to wait until an opponent searches their library to cast Archive Trap. Psychic Strike and Grisly Spectacle serve double duty to keep you safe and mill them even more.
Artifact mill
Decimator Web
=(comments)=
Decimator Web is really powerful here. If you want to hasten up the milling, imprint it onto your Prototype Portal, so that you can start churning out a Decimator Web a turn!
Land mills
Duskmantle, House of Shadow
Nephalia Drownyard
=(comments)=
Useful when you need more mill and other options are slim.
Total Milling Cards in Deck = 31
Btw, both Jace's milling abilities should be obvious, so lets get onto other stuff.
Your Board Wipes -
Black Sun's Zenith
Damnation
Your Removal -
Evil Twin
Dimir Charm
Grisly Spectacle
Your Counters -
Cryptic Command
Dimir Charm
Mana Drain
Psychic Strike
Your Tutors -
Diabolic Tutor
Increasing Ambition
Imperial Seal
Liliana Vess
Your Mana Ramp -
Mana Drain
Dimir Keyrune
Gilded Lotus
Prototype Portal (with other artifact ramp imprinted)
Sol Ring
Liliana of the Dark Realms
Your Protection -
Kira, Great Glass-Spinner
Oona, Queen of the Fae (token generator)
[[Bitterblossom] (token generator)
Frozen AEther
Grave Pact
Oversold Cemetery
Erayo, Soratami Ascendant (auto counter for all your stuff)
Lightning Greaves (shroud)
Swiftfoot Boots (hexproof)
Reins of Power (blue fog =P)
Other helpful stuff/comments on protection -
Kira, Great Glass-Spinner (keeps Circu safe so he can keep milling with every spell you cast)
Frozen AEther (slows down aggro or artifact heavy decks. Also great in the early game vs. any deck)
Oversold Cemetery (use this to get creatures back into your hand if you are being overwhelmed)
Reins of Power (very useful at opportune moments, such as when you have no creatures and need blockers, or if you want to try attacking the opponent with their own army)
Chainer, Dementia Master (the cost for his ability is moot when you start taking creatures your opponent hasn't even played yet! Target any fatties that you may have milled out of your opponents library, or use him to recover creatures you have lost during the game.
Prototype Portal (useful to duplicate either the Decimator Web for more mill, or the Lightning Greaves/Swiftfoot Boots if you need more protection. That's also if you aren't already using it to ramp with Sol Ring or Gilded Lotus =D )
Any comments/suggestions are much appreciated!
