Edgar Markov 2 Versions

You probably can figure out how to play the standard version of the deck, but it's worth discussing how the madness version works (but first, in either version, you should almost never cast Edgar Markov unless you're out of other things to do). Since the deck doesn't contain many cards that inherently have the madness keyword, the deck is built around a few key cards that imitate giving madness to the cards in the deck. Draw cards/engines in this deck often also discard cards for cost, and uses a minor blood token sub-theme to supplement this. This is not a wheel deck, you usually will want to discard only a few cards at a time to keep the aggression up and also to simplify gameplay. The custom categories are used to organize some boards (see below), but also used for the purpose of the cards. Most are pretty obvious, but there are a few cards that the use is not immediately apparent for, and the tags should help with that.

Key card explanations:

Falkenrath Gorger: gives all of your vampire spells actual madness. This card is needed to get maximum value out of Anje Falkenrath's drawing ability, as the other two cards here do not allow her to untap. Also has the benefit of being a vampire card which can trigger Edgar.

Containment Construct: the easiest to use of these. Basically gives every card you discard better madness since you can cast it at any time in that turn, not just immediately as you discard it (though be careful as this doesn't get arount timing restrictions like madness does, so if you discard a creature on your opponent's turn you can't cast it unless it has flash). Notably, doesn't trigger Anje. General rule for this is to only exile cards without madness to this ability, and only exile instant speed cards to this ability on your opponents' turns. Also note that unlike Conspiracy Theorist you can exile all cards you discard if you discard multiple at once. Conspiracy Theorist functions basically the same apart from only being able to get one card if you discard multiple at once, though it can also draw and discard its own cards, so consider adding it as well if you remove instances of multiple discards at once (Thrill of Discovery etc.)

Deathless Ancient: never cast this, ever. If you're discarding only a single card, use this as the card you discard if possible. The benefit of this card is that it is incredibly difficult for your opponent to interact with, since it can jump between your hand and graveyard like a cesium atom on crack. It can come back to your hand at instant speed as long as you have the vampires to tap (which by the way do not require haste since it's a cost of this card's ability), so it's smart to always leave a few vampires untapped if you anticipate graveyard removal. You can pull a similar trick if your opponent tries to exile this from your hand, as long as you have a blood token around you should be able to hide it safe in your graveyard. Mondrak, Glory Dominus really helps turbocharge this, as getting This is one of the best cards in this deck, but hard to use, so follow the advice at the beginning of this section when in doubt.

Olivia, Mobilized for War: Mostly just a good card that pumps your creatures and gives them haste, but there are some tricks to maximizing her efficiency. Obviously, if you have one of the 3 (or 4) cards mentioned above out, utilize them to cast the card you discarded to her ability. If you have Deathless Ancient, this will often mean forgoing the haste Olivia grants since you'll have to use the new creatures to retrieve deathless ancient, but this is almost always worth it. If you have one of the other engine pieces with her though, go crazy and get in for a big attack.

Explanation of tags/boards:

Main board will contain the 99 for Edgar Markov Madness. The sideboard will contain cards for a more standard Markov list. In custom categories, each card in the Madness category will represent the Madness board, while the Core category will represent the cards that stay in the deck when swapping between madness and standard (sideboard) versions of the deck. Basically, swap out the cards in the sideboard for the cards in the madness category when swapping between decks.

The maybeboard will have categories for the standard and madness versions of the deck.

Note that cards in the Madness category of the main deck should NOT be swapped out for cards in the standard sideoard or standard maybeboard, only for cards in the Madness maybeboard. This is to maintain the quantities necessary for the madness theme's consistency. Cards not in the madness category in the main deck can be swapped for cards in the standard sideboard or any category of the maybeboard (though be careful before adding cards from the madness maybeboard)

Also included a maybeboard category of bad madness cards, mostly beaters and removal, that can be added but probably shouldn't be.
