This is my Izzet control built Mizzix. I focused on abusing all the alternative cost mechanics such as buyback and flashback and a lot of X costing spells. A more traditional Izzet control/counterpunch build. Thankfully its quick and effective and typically does not turn matches into long grinds.

Updates Add

In response to my brutal local meta, I have basically rebuilt Mizzix through the addition of a lot of new cards. The first thing I have done is reworked Mizzix's mana base and have added in 4 fetches and chromatic lantern. With Mizzix, it is so important to make sure you have your blue color turned on first before your red. You will be able to build up and blast away (thanks Dynavolt Tower) but during those first 6-7 turns, you have to establish either control or mana ramp, assuring you will be able to control later on. I always tutor up Mystic Speculation and start going to town, building up Mizzix quickly during the early game. My local meta is harsh and pods will quickly turn on the control player. Playing Mizzix you have to prepare and expect them all to gang up on you at some point. Establish your mana ramp early, hoping you land lots of your mana rocks with Gilded Lotus. Save your Gilded Lotus for counters if you can help it (most are 3cmc). With Mizzix Ive learned that there is no need for blatant mana doublers (caged sun, gauntlet of might) because Mizzix has her own mana reducer built in. No need to double down there then. Ive picked these mana rocks to be low to the ground. Don't be a threat at first in the pod, in an attempt to soften the hate. Allow someone else to pull the attention away from you while you use Mystic Speculation and Capsize to build up Mizzix's counters. Once you hit 3, your on target....once you hit 5 your golden....once you hit 7+, you are owning. Ive added in Aetherling as a finisher. He is so slippery and underrated that opponents quickly die. Use Memnarch to steal anything problematic. Since this deck is heavy on instants and sorceries, Disciple of the Ring is broken in this deck. You can hold entire pods at bay and force inactivity since the other players are so reluctant to do anything noncreature based. He can single handedly shut down an entire pod if he is played mid to late game and has plenty of fuel in the graveyard. Stop all graveyard hate, it hurts Mizzix a lot. Once its mid-game, turn up the heat and start to go offensive. Dig up Reiterate and Fanning the Flames and blast away! About it for now.
