Introduction

It's 2014 - you've just gotten into Magic. You've played kitchen table with your friends, having fun playing cards like Hunted Wumpus into Sengir Vampire. Your 15 year-old brain decides it's a great idea to try this new format you've heard about from a friend whose an experienced player - Elder Dragon Highlander - completely skipping over formats like standard or modern. You start looking online at legendary creatures to make your commander, and there... you see it. In all it's majesty, in all it's glory... a dragon. But, it's not just any dragon. It's Prossh, Skyraider of Kher. You immediately fall in love with it's art, it's abilities, it's flavor. You decide you want to build Prossh, Skyraider of Kher as your commander...

...and 9~10 years later you still haven't really done it. You attempted it once and it went over horribly, and you basically took the deck apart as quick as you built it. Since then, the image of the dragon Prossh, Skyraider of Kher has lived rent free in your head, always thinking of ways you could try to build him and make the deck work. Yet, you can never find the motivation to fully assemble the deck due to a lack of funds, or no one to play Magic with. You've given up. One day, you say. One day you'll build Prossh. As the days turn to nights and the nights to days, it doesn't happen. One day though, sitting in your room, you have the urge to build a new deck. You decide after looking through your existing decks - a beatdown, a prison, a control, and a land-matters deck - you want to build a combo deck. After browsing through EDHrec, it catches your eye. A commander you swore you'd build in an age gone by. That dragon, that damned dragon. Prossh, Skyraider of Kher. With child-like vigor, you begin.

Overview

Prossh, Skyraider of Kher has always been one of my favorite legendary creatures in Magic. The art for Prossh is really the first art for a card I really remember just absolutely falling in love with. I've always wanted to build him, but was never satisfied with any brews or builds that I'd make for him. At this point, it's been over a year since I last built a deck. I want to build something, and so I figured - why not Prossh? And so, here it is. A cutthroat combo deck built around the Dragon God of Kher, Prossh, Skyraider of Kher.

The deck plays like a typical Prossh, Skyraider of Kher deck. Get Food Chain out ASAP, generate infinite mana with Prossh, and win the game off of something like Impact Tremors or Blood Artist. It's probably not as fast or consistent as a truly competitive Prossh deck should be, but I like it. I do want to add more card draw, but kind of unsure on how to go about doing that.

Food Chain Combos:

Sac Outlets:

Okay - you've assembled infinite mana - now how does the deck win? Prossh, Skyraider of Kher does not have haste, and he can really only kill one person at a time. As such, we aim for symmetrical ETB effects in order to actually win. You'll need a sac outlet for Prossh himself for pretty much everything, and since Food Chain does not count since it's an exile effect having a sacrifice outlet is extremely important.

  • Altar of the Brood - You do not need a sacrifice outlet for this win-con since it's dealing with an ETB effect. With this out, everytime Prossh and his tokens ETB they'll force our opponents to mill and our opponents will lose on their respective draw steps.

  • Blood Artist - Everytime we sacrifice something our opponents will lose a life and we'll gain a life. Since we're sacrificing things an arbitrarily large number of times, we will drain our opponents very quickly and win.
  • Dragon Tempest - Everytime Prossh, Skyraider of Kher ETBs we'll ping someone for one. You don't need a sacrifice outlet for this win-con as it's dealing with an ETB effect.
  • Goblin Bombardment - After generating infinite mana, we'll start sacrificing Prossh and tokens to Goblin Bombardment, allowing us to ping everyone down very quickly and win.
  • Goblin Sharpshooter - After generating infinite mana, we'll start sacrificing Prossh and tokens to Goblin Bombardment, allowing us to ping everyone down very quickly and win. Note: You do need him to be able to tap. Lightning Greaves or Concordant Crossroads can help if you just played him the turn you're trying to win.
  • Impact Tremors - Everytime Prossh, Skyraider of Kher ETBs we'll ping everyone. You don't need a sacrifice outlet for this win-con as it's dealing with an ETB effect and Food Chain works fine.
  • Zulaport Cutthroat - Same as Blood Artist, everytime we sacrifice something our opponents will lose a life and we'll gain a life. Since we're sacrificing things an arbitrarily large number of times, we will drain our opponents very quickly and win.

  • Note: I don't know why the Altar of the Brood isn't next to the bullet. I've tried everything to fix it. It looks fine on the backend. It's fucked but w/e - I'm tired of trying to fix it.

    Closing Thoughts

This is legit the first deck since I think like 2017 I've actually laid cards out on a table to build with and not in an actual spreadsheet. Shit's wild. The deck isn't complete by any means. I definitely want to improve it to make it the best it can be. It'll take a while, but I think it'll be fun.
