"I am the master of whisperers. My role is to be sly, obsequious, and without scruples." admitted Edric as he leaned back in his comfortable oak tree chair behind his grand wooden desk. "The storms come and go, the waves crash overhead, the big fish eat the little fish, and I keep on paddling." With a charming grin in his face Edric looked deep into her eyes and assured "But I've always served the plain, my lady..." he leaned further forward and took her hand into his and continued "...someone must."

The walls of his office were covered in bookshelves filled with scrolls of ancient and current knowledge that held signets of all kin and kind now mostly just gathering dust. Edric had his way with written and spoken word, he had trained his mind up to its fullest potential and beyond, being able to restore and connect every memory, clue, message and bit of information ever received within his own mind. Few if none knew he had trained with alchemists in refuge, hidden underground mages and acolytes of various temples and gods alike. Over the many years of research, adventures and intense studying he developed a taste for powerful relics and achieved a total control of the mind. Edric had always believed that any fool with a bit of luck can find himself born into power, but earning it for yourself, that takes work. And he was constantly working.

Edric stood up, grabbed his cloak and a bottle of elixir and turned around to open a wide door leading to his balcony. Above the door hanged a gilded sign "Secrets are worth more than silver or sapphires." The lady followed Edric to the balcony where they stood admiring the view. They were high enough to see over the coastal city all the way to the busy harbor and the vast outstretching ocean. For quite some time they stared at the sea as the tides ebbed and flowed. As Edric took a look around he caught a glipse of what appeared to be a pair of mysterious eyes peaking from around the corner on the outmost and dangerously narrow ledge of the building. "My lady, I shall continue to investigate the matter at hand and I have no doubt the answers you seek will be yours in time." Satisfied she nodded and turned to leave, her heart filled with joy and anticipation for the future.

Edric felt his vision narrowing as his mind worked and he put two and two together. "A word from the Reliquary Tower must have finally arrived. Could they have actually found the Bident!?" thought Edric, but sealed away his excitement and hailed for the ledgewalker...
