@krysto2012

Surestrike Trident is terrible for Voltron. I have no interest in Equipment that tuns a creature into a bad, player-only Spikeshot Goblin .

Also, I'm not using Leonin Shikari . It was never useful to me.

Surestrike Trident has it's place in Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon EDH but that's about it.

What about Chrome Mox and Mox Diamond to get your general out earlier?

July 15, 2013 10:14 a.m.

@truble

The deck isn't designed to cast my Commander as early as possible. I cast it when need it. No point having a Voltron Commander out with no Equipment for it to hold.

I don't like the card disadvantage from Chrome Mox and Mox Diamond . If I were to add another mana rock, it would be Everflowing Chalice .

This deck is bonkers man, grats =P. Do I have your permission to take ideas from it?

@Wedjat

I guess. What 'ideas' are you referring to?

Brass Squire . He's good with equipments. Also Quest for the Holy Relic if it's not in there yet.

@WicKid52

Brass Squire , and it's older half-sister Auriok Windwalker , were in the deck before. I took them out because they were too slow.

Quest for the Holy Relic is unbearably bad. The worst Equipment tutor in the format. It's way too slow.

"I guess. What 'ideas' are you referring to?"

The creature/permanent/equipment balancing. I too have a Kemba deck (but more geared towards Cat-Tribal) and I always had trouble to tell how much of each type of card should I put. I didnt go competitive like your deck because my group isn't competitive.

And some card choices, it's good to look at more experienced players' decklists.

I'm liking the new Sun Titan art.

If you have a lot of Voltron in your meta have you considered Celestial Flare ?

It gets around indestructible and protection from effects.

I'm hard pressed to find things to upgrade here. You've pretty much made all the functional card upgrades here. The next level of upgrading the deck is going to be more centered around meta specifics and personal preference.

This is a great deck!

I actually second the Flare, it's one of the only ways to get rid of Sigarda in our meta.

July 22, 2013 1:56 a.m.

given that Celestial Flare doesn't target, you're just as likely to whiff on the spell as you are to succeed with it... If you're not trying to abuse Exalted, there's no reason not to swing with more than one creature, especially knowing that white decks have spells like this. Might as well run Dispense Justice for the ability to nix 2 things swinging in your direction; it's less color intensive and the metalcraft isn't difficult to get in a deck like this. Just feel like with swords of X and Y, generals like Sigarda won't be able to block Kemba anyway, it's the retaliatory strike you have to watch out for if Kemba can't block her the following turn.

Most people will plan for a forced sacrifice effect if they suspect you might have one, and will usually swing with 2 creatures then, not 3 (from personal experience)

Sigarda is safe from Celestial Flare and Dispense Justice because of her forced sacrifice prevention.

I second Dispense Justice that card is more apt for this deck.

@apt142

No interest in Celestial Flare and it's ilk. Combat-only removal is too narrow for my liking. I also don't have the space for more spot removal.

Etched Champion could be a great equip target, especially with the Swords and the Jitte.

I'm not too familiar with Voltron, but Whispersilk Cloak looks like it would be pretty good here.

July 23, 2013 4:28 p.m.

NensouHiebara says... #21

@mellophone11

Etched Champion isn't the kind of card I want to be running. It's body is too small and requires Equipment to do anything.

@Verelen

The reason I don't run Whispersilk Cloak is because of shroud. This deck hates shroud. I am patiently waiting for a hexproof variant to be printed.

I see you've moved commander permanently now. Congrats!

Trailblazer's Boots turns out to be very similar to Whispersilk Cloak in that way.

No hexproof, but hey, unblockable.

@mstancea

No interest in Trailblazer's Boots . Between 3 Swords, 2 Equipment offering trample, Rogue's Passage , and Eight-and-a-Half-Tails ' own abilities, getting damage through isn't hard.

July 23, 2013 10:42 p.m.

What are your thoughts for Armored Ascension for this deck? It would end up being a huge boost to your general and you'd be able to force damage through very easily.
