I don't like it. The single point of Power boost is too small for it's costs. Also, I haven't been enjoying Haunted Plate Mail lately and I'm planning on cutting it.

Ensouled Scimitar = Dancing Scimitar aka we're kinda cool but purely for the defensive.

Maybe try out Inquisitor's Flail . If you can get through it can absolutely wreck someone.

How useful is Darksteel Plate now that your general is Eight-and-a-Half-Tails ? That's the only thing I could see worth swapping for Windborn Muse . The only setback is vulnerability to Wrath of God and the like.

Fireshrieker , alongside Silverblade Paladin , already give me double damage, offer combat advantage, and play well with the Swords. I also don't have room for it.
Darksteel Plate is amazing. Having Eight-and-a-Half-Tails or whatever other creature I have out survive sweepers is really good.
I'm planning on dropping Sunblast Angel for Windborn Muse . Sunblast only destroying tapped creatures has been a problem.
September 11, 2013 9:49 a.m.
you're right, Fireshrieker and Silverblade Paladin are awesome. but you can double the damage of double strike as well. essentially dealing quad-damage. i understand the room issue though. the decklist is pretty tight as it is.

Well, the Equipment of Theros are all just Limited fodder... This makes the rest of the block less promising.

Sadly there's nothing in the set outside of Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx that I want for my own Kemba deck... equipments haven't gotten any love over the past few blocks and it makes me sad... hopefully something will come along in the next 2 sets of Theros block.
September 15, 2013 12:10 p.m.
I doubt it, after the insanely powerful equipment support we got in ZEN/SOM, I don't think we'll get much for a little while.

There's a few cards in Theros I'm willing to try out.
Heliod, God of the Sun - My initial reaction when he was spoiled was that he was disappointing, but after thinking about it, he's a good card.
Spear of Heliod - The removal ability keeps big attackers off of me. Might not make it into the deck.
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx - Hooray mana. Although, I don't believe I'm running enough White permanents. It needs minimum four devotion to start producing mana.

CrimsonWings3689 says... #12
True that it needs 4 devotion to count as ramp, but the cost is colorless to add into the land, as long as you have 3 devotion, you make 3 white for some of the more restrictive casting costs like Avacyn, and you have 12 lands that make colorless mana, could help early on to hit those white mana costs. I feel like this is going to be a staple in every mono-colored EDH deck, and be heavily considered for multi-color as well because it acts as a filter.

Colossus of Akros is also an interesting card... expensive to cast, but worthwhile if you pull the ramp for it given it's an indestructible 10/10 that will turn into a 20/20

NensouHiebara says... #14
Too expensive. My deck can't produce enough mana quickly nor consistently enough for it to matter. For the same 8 mana, I'd rather cast Avacyn, Angel of Hope .

Cranial Plating ? could work since there are so many artifacts in this deck.

What about Lightning Greaves ? It's better than Swiftfoot Boots .
September 19, 2013 3:13 p.m.
He doesn't use Lightning Greaves because he's already explained to many people that shroud is a pain to work around compared to the hexproof given by Swiftfoot Boots .
September 19, 2013 3:33 p.m.
NensouHiebara says... #20
Having a lower equip cost doesn't make Lightning Greaves better. Moving Greaves around to equip other Equipment gives opponents a window of opportunity to hit my creatures with spot removal, among other things. Shroud also blocks Eight-and-a-Half-Tails ' protection ability.

I know you have Fireshrieker and Silverblade Paladin , but they don't stack. Replacing Fireshrieker with Inquisitor's Flail would let you get rid of the nonbo, double attack for 1 mana less, and even double the amount of damage you would potentially be first striking. I am definitely an advocate of it.
Other than that, what do you think about Elspeth, Sun's Champion for her semi-board wipe ability?
September 21, 2013 9:53 a.m.
NensouHiebara says... #22
I'd rather keep Fireshrieker for the double Sword trigger and the combat advantage.
Not too interested in Elspeth, Sun's Champion . She doesn't really offer much for Voltron.
September 21, 2013 11:38 a.m.
MagicalHacker says... #23
Ah, I see. How much would you be willing to pay for that ability? Because Grappling Hook also gives double strike. It does cost a total of 8 mana, but it lets you force blocks to kill creatures.
Also, True Conviction would only cost 1 more than Fireshrieker 's mana cost plus equip cost and would give all your creatures double strike AND lifelink.
September 21, 2013 11:47 a.m.
NensouHiebara says... #24
No interest Grappling Hook . Too much mana for double strike and I don't have much of a need for force-blocking.
I had True Conviction in the deck before, but took it out as I seldom have much of an army to take full advantage of it, Although, it is a nice devotion enabler for the new cards from Theros.
September 21, 2013 2:35 p.m.
MagicalHacker says... #25
Well, since it only costs 6, and Fireshrieker costs a total of 5, I make the argument that you don't need an army to make it powerful. I run it in my voltron as well, because 6 mana to double the damage AND THEN double the lifeswing all in one card is just bonkers.
Also, what do you think of Silent Arbiter and cards like it that will hurt all your opponents and leave you mostly unaffected?
Aerien says... #1
Ever thought of trying Ensouled Scimitar ? It's another equipment creature like Haunted Plate Mail and with flying. Just a thought even though scimitar needs mana to become a creature.
