Profound Journey is a neat card, but 7cmc might be the deal-breaker for me. I'll have to find a spot for it to feel how it plays.

Ojutai Exemplars looks like it's better suited in a spellsling deck. Regardless, it's not what I want out of new cards. At this point, I'm most interested in new Equipment, Voltron support, or Artifact/Equipment support.

Aurora Griffin doesn't do anything in my deck. 8.5 already turns things White on his own. He doesn't need other cards that can do the same.

Flagstones of Trokair should be in this deck since it's better than a plains whether you think it or not. It's just like the difference between a Raging Goblin and Goblin Guide or Murder and Hero's Downfall, it is better and the only reason why you shouldn't be running it is because of your budget
March 12, 2015 11:14 p.m.
Does it have the subtype "Plains"? No? Then it's nowhere near strictly better. We've already had this argument, in these comments, don't beat dead horses.

The only cards you have in your deck that would actually make it matter to have plains are Knight of the White Orchid and Land Tax

I hope you're ready for a really longwinded comment from Nensou. He's been over this many times and no matter how much you argue he's not gonna change his mind. I don't know why you're trying to stir up old shit.

I don't like Flagstones of Trokair!
It's not better than a Plains - Flagstones can't be tutored by Eternal Dragon or Land Tax. Flagstones doesn't help Emeria, The Sky Ruin. Flagstones is only a one-of.
It doesn't do anything - Flagstones has no abilities to use. It just sits there and taps for . Plains do the same thing, but I have 20 of them and they're tutorable by several different cards.
It's ability is near-useless - I have no need for a single land that replaces itself. One land that can out of 36 isn't going to help against mass land destruction. I also wouldn't burn resources to get it onto the battlefield.
It's not about budget - There are several high-value cards in this deck. Flagstones, as of this post, is ~$10 for a regular and ~$30 for a foil on SCG. A mere drop in the bucket compared to what I've spent on over the years for this deck.
The card has absolutely no purpose in my deck. End of story.

Ok now that I see the part about Emeria, The Sky Ruin I am fine with you not running it, plus I also said that if you aren't running it because of your budget then that was fine too

Do you find 8.5 Tails is too small for Inquisitor's Flail? Could be a way to double his damage, provided he's unblockable or has first strike.

Inquisitor's Flail is on my Maybeboard. It may go in my deck if I fins a spot for it, but I'm more interested in new Equipment... if R&D ever decides to make good ones in block sets more frequently and not endless piles of Limited filler...
I already use Fireshrieker, and Inquisitor's Flail would essentially be a second one that stacks. 8.5 also makes himself unblockable with his abilities.
8.5 isn't so small once he has a few Equipment on him. Having ways to greatly increase his power at once makes it easier to two-shot players and allows me to not overextend.

I have a Bushi Tenderfoot tiny leader deck. I want to use 8.5 as my backup Leader, for when I am playing against rule nazis. How would you go about making a tiny leader deck around 8.5?
March 20, 2015 10:18 a.m.
I have to completely disagree with your assessment of Flagstones of Trokair. It is well worth including because it provides some insurance against Board wipes, and there's basically 0 downside in a mono white deck.
March 20, 2015 11:26 a.m.
Also, don't you think Containment Priest would be a good inclusion here?

I don't really have much experience with Tiny Leaders, but from what I've seen it plays more like 60-card Constructed than Commander. Would be difficult to built enough mana to both use 8.5 abilities and cast needed cards.
One single land out of a 99-card deck that replaces itself with tapped Plains isn't much of an insurance policy against mass land destruction.
Flagstones of Trokair is not something I want in my deck. It doesn't do anything and just sits on the field waiting to be destroyed. It's not useful to me. I don't want it.
Never really though about using Containment Priest. When Commander 2014 came out, my full attention was on the new Equipment support. I'll put it on the Maybeboard for now.
March 20, 2015 3:59 p.m.
Okay, fine. I've played commander a long time and I can tell you Flagstones effect after a board wipe can literally give you the extra push needed to win the game, because it happened last week, but your deck, your decision.

Way to be passive aggressive dude, no need to be a dick on someone else's decklist.
March 21, 2015 3:33 p.m.
Not being aggressive I'm just saying I believe it's a good land. That's all.
March 21, 2015 3:51 p.m.
You don't even know what passive aggressive means, wow. I just feel bad now.
March 21, 2015 3:54 p.m.
I play in a very combo-heavy meta. I have also been in love with the idea of building a mono-white edh deck for a very long time. How do you think this deck would fair in a meta where literally everyone is playing turn 5-6 kills?

Profound Journey from DTK might be nice.
