id like your opinion on scrying sheets with snow-covered plains

@Dauntless_11

Snow basics and Scrying Sheets are OK. Nothing amazing, but not bad. Ripping dead land draws from your deck in the mid-late game helps dig into needed cards.

do you think adding more land destruction like wasteland or tectonic edge would good for this deck?

@Dauntless_11

Strip Mine and Dust Bowl are plenty. Between both lands, Weathered Wayfarer, and Expedition Map, I should see one of them every game to handle any problematic utility land.

ive seen similar decklists running thawing glaciers and vesuva. do you think these have a place in this deck? why do you choose thespian stage over vesuva?

@Dauntless_11

I used to use Thawing Glaciers. Replaced it with Myriad Landscape. Landscape is an actual land ramp effect and can tap for mana if needed.

Thespian's Stage is the superior land clone.

  • Stage doesn't enter the battlefield tapped.
  • Stage isn't locked into cloning one land.
  • Stage isn't stuck in the hand waiting for a worthwhile clone target.

What do you think of Hall of the Bandit Lord? Would it still be worth running even if it wouldn't work on 8.5?

February 6, 2016 2:42 p.m.

NensouHiebara says... #9

@Ocelot44

Hall of the Bandit Lord isn't worth it in this deck. I don't run enough creatures and the majority of what I do run are utility creatures that mostly stay out of combat.

Hi,

I'm working on a commander deck with the same commander as you have. It's challenging, but very interesting :-)

I have one card which I am intending to add. Curious why you did not choose to play it: Glare of Heresy

With your commander out you can pay and then cast this card to exile any permanent that is interfering with your gameplan.

Have fun and when my deck is ready I would really like to see your expert opinion about my build :-) If you would like ofcource ;-) Upvote and enjoy!

@PartyJ

I don't like removal that requires me to jump through hoops to work as intended. I don't cast 8.5 until my board is prepared for him, so I wouldn't be able to exile any non-White problem whenever I would need to.

Maybe try Brimaz, King of Oreskos for the little creatures early game just to have little meat shields or use them as little creatures to throw the equipment on. I don't know how well that would work in this deck but it does give you some tiny defenders

@FlamexRanger Elbrus, the Binding Blade  Flip has a color identity of black. Therefore, it can't be run in a mono-white commander deck

NensouHiebara says... #15

@gabestone

Brimaz, King of Oreskos doesn't fit the deck well. He's mainly just an attacker and I'm keeping those to a minimum in this deck. His 1/1 tokens come in when he attacks, so they need to survive combat in order to block afterwards.

@FlamexRanger

Deathrender doesn't work in this deck. Most of my creatures are small utility dorks and it has an inefficient boost for its costs.

Comprehensive Rule 903.4c gives Elbrus, the Binding Blade  Flip a Color Identity of Black. I can't use it.

Let me be the first to say: "Take out the top". It's a good card, I'm hating on it because it makes the game drag on forever. +1 by the way.

Ocelot44 says... #17

It only makes the game drag on if the person who's using it just started playing magic this morning.

@Drakon562

I'm fairly quick with Sensei's Divining Top. It's not that difficult to pick the best card out of three.

You should add glare of heresy and flagstones of trokair! I'm just kidding. But seriously though, they're printing an interesting equipment tutor in SOI that you might want to check out. It's called "open the armory".

@K34

I'm aware of the new Equipment tutor in SOI. Definitely going to use it.

Ohthenoises says... #22

Ironically it can also tutor disabling enchants like Pacifism, Arrest, and others.

Might be worth looking into for tempo plays.

NensouHiebara says... #23

@Ohthenoises

I'm not a fan of Arrest effects. The enchanted creature is still on the battlefield, so they're not stopping problematic static or triggered abilities.

I'd be more interested in Banisher Priest for tempo plays.

Ohthenoises says... #24

Oh I know, I'm just saying stuff like Darksteel Mutation as a 1x or 2x can be tutored. (not to say add 2 mutations just two similar effects.)

Just brought it up as food for thought.

lemmingllama says... #25

Faith's Fetters can sometimes be useful. It isn't ideal removal, but it has lifegain and can hit non-creatures. The extra mana makes it more versatile than Arrest type effects

That being said, Council's Judgment does it better and for less mana.
