That's a fair point! Thanks for the reply. I had forgotten about recruiter of the guard. I play a variant of this deck and await your updates because they're so well-explained and detailed.

Hey, mate! I like the deck you assembled! I run a similar one with the same commander. If I may suggest a card to add: Inspiring Statuary! It really works for me since it not only takes advantage of an unused ability all the equipment has (to tap) but more or less fixes your mana and actually ramps a lot! Just today I was a bit mana-screwed (stuck on 2 plains and a gray land) but still managed to cast Eldrazi Conscription!

@Warxuaroz

I have no interest in Inspiring Statuary. The only card type I would want to be made cheaper is Equipment. Statuary is unable to do that.

Casting higher CMC cards off of it sounds neat on paper, but it would be mostly ineffective as a lone effect in a 99-card deck.

I feel like with the fact that you would most likely already be swinging with creatures (equipped or not) in the early game and mid game, so then suddenly switching to commander damage would just have made that regular damage pointless (also the fact that sometimes you wouldn't even cast Eight-and-a-Half-Tails if you've already gotten far with regular damage). I think switching the commander to Sram, Senior Edificer would give that extra edge it originally didn't have to speed up your process and deal more damage sooner (without having to deal commander damage) not to mention I think the deck has enough protection from equipment to keep your creatures safe (giving Eight-and-a-Half-Tails a little less value), and switching from Scroll Rack (which really only has value if it's in play with Land Tax) to Smuggler's Copter would both give the deck another really powerful draw engine that can be easily done with your low mana cost creatures or tokens, while also being a vehicle as a bonus to give the Sram, Senior Edificer another card that can be reoccurred with Sun Titan or something for even more draw is plenty good enough to warrant that switch. How have playtests been so far with them?

@Alayjo95

I'm planning on using Sram, Senior Edificer as my Commander for those exact reasons. Eight-and-a-Half-Tails's most egregious weakness is that he has no early-game application. The older aggressive Voltron Commander options, like Isamaru, Hound of Konda, never interested me and felt like downgrades compared to 8.5. Sram, Senior Edificer's card draw is the perfect incentive, making him better than any of the aggressive Voltron Commanders that came before him.

Also already planning on dropping Scroll Rack for Smuggler's Copter, but more because of Rack being underused and the Looter Scooter being an expendable, evasive body to dive-bomb Planeswalkers.

Playtesting has been slow. My LGS has very few Commander nights and I'm not active on my LGS's social media page (ie. I don't use FaceBook) to set up games. Regardless, I'm already sold on Sram, Senior Edificer. This deck is going to get updated soon with the new Commander at the helm.

Cultivator's Caravan is a maybe. The rest don't do enough.

Flickering Ward definitely has my attention. The only Aura I'm considering for now.

More detail when I update.

Heart of Kiran doesn't do anything but attack. I prefer Vehicles with utility.

It can also block because of vigilance but sure, I can see it not having any real utility :p

I feel like with the cards on the chopping block, Elspeth, Knight-Errant is one that you should consider keeping. I feel like she deserves a spot in the deck just as much as Nahiri, the Lithomancer because both deal with sac removal effects with their first abilities plus her second ability helps give evasion and speeds up the clock a bit. You mention the prominance of exile removal effects, but I feel like you might be overestimating the amount a single deck will have or at least that's what I think; I've been a bit out of it in terms of new sets, and don't know how much removal has been added, I would like to hear examples of newly printed exile removal that's threatening the deck. Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Karmic Justice, and Argivian Archaeologist are two that I can understand to be removed since Avacyn, Angel of Hope is expensive and dead in the early game and is probably not needed in the late game if you've already gotten far enough, but maybe her base body and ability can be just that finisher you need once your opponent has expelled their exile removal during the course of the game if you've pressured them enough. Karmic Justice is a good incentive to prevent your opponents from casting cards like Wrath of God, Day of Judgment, Crux of Fate, Supreme Verdict, etc; but yeah you already have protection from your equipment and other cards to not need to incentive. Argivian Archaeologist is overshadowed by cards like Sun Titan and Nahiri, the Lithomancer, so that one I don't really have anything to defend.

@Alayjo95

The issue with Elspeth, Knight-Errant is that she compares poorly to Equipment. What good is her temporary +3/+3 and flying boost when I can easily tutor for Equipment that provide stronger, indefinite boons?

-

New exiling removal options since Khans of Tarkir:

Sure, a single deck isn't going to have every exile removal effect available, but any W/x opponent is guaranteed to have at least a few of them.

-

Avacyn, Angel of Hope isn't worth keeping as a finisher. Her 8cmc is a significant hindrance. This deck leads to a "Build Your Own Finisher" type of back-up plan with all of the Equipment, so any creature can become a more effective threat than her.

-

Karmic Justice only triggers from noncreature permanents being destroyed.

I didn't realize Karmic Justice said noncreature permanent I have some people to apologize to. I agree with your points on the other cards, but am now questioning the effectiveness of these one time artifact/enchantment recursion spells with the larger presence of exile spells.

Recursion as in graveyard recursion.

+1 from me, i decided to make my own mono white equipment voltron deck after seeing this. Have you ever thought about running Council's Judgment?

February 5, 2017 3:14 a.m.

NensouHiebara says... #16

@Alayjo95

Not every piece of removal is going to be exile. There's still plenty of quality 'destroy' removal, especially sweepers. I have to prepare for the inevitability that my Equipment will end up in the graveyard.

And before you mention it; Avacyn, Angel of Hope and Karmic Justice can't effectively keep sweepers at bay. Every artifact sweeper can be cast well before Avacyn. Karmic Justice is an infrequently seen singleton effect that I never wanted to burn Enlightened Tutor for.

@Gotmarth

Council's Judgment is bad in multiplayer. I don't want a removal spell under the influence of my opponents' collusion.

@NensouHiebara

Oh don't worry I'm not defending Avacyn, Angel of Hope or Karmic Justice, you've convinced me on those. As for the one time use graveyard recursion spells, I meant to say maybe there are more cards like Restoration Specialist which would be more effective than cards that can't be recurred by the deck since they aren't permanents, but then again Remember the Fallen is really powerful. I think the deck is definitely reaching it's pinnacle.

Just to let you know there are 101 cards in your deck currently.

@Paradoxprism

Not sure what's causing the extra card to appear in the card count. My deck adds up to 100 and I have 100 cards on the Main when I edit.

What about adding Indomitable Archangel forAvacyn, Angel of Hope or Karmic Justice?

February 5, 2017 12:23 p.m.

Alayjo95 says... #21

@Paradoxprism

21 + 6 + 5 + 36 + 8 + 5 + 2 + 16 = 99

Then Sram, Senior Edificer makes it 100

Paradoxprism says... #22

@NensouHiebara

Indomitable hits 24 cards in your deck, also if you replace Avacyn, Angel of Hope for Indomitable Archangel, you can replace Karmic Justice for Second Sunrise.

I didn't see Indomitable in the exclusions list, my mistake.

Looking over the deck plus the cards on the chopping block and the maybeboard I believe changes that warrant testing should be:

Argivian Archaeologist -> Restoration Specialist

Avacyn, Angel of Hope -> Flickering Ward

Elspeth, Knight-Errant -> Mine Excavation

Karmic Justice -> Banisher Priest

I feel as though these cards are the better options from those in the maybe board, also:

Eternal Dragon -> Wayfarer's Bauble

The reason why I say Eternal Dragon is because of it's extremely high mana cost for just a 5/5 with flying, and it's plaincycling ability could easily be replaced by Wayfarer's Bauble since they both produce the same effect, but Wayfarer's Bauble can be brought back in numerous ways while bringing back Eternal Dragon costs us five mana. But yeah his strength is that he also has the utility of being a big creature that can bring himself back, so that makes me second guess this. Just a consideration though.
