Yes, angel of the ruins is going to be a great plainscycling ability. Also wanted to know your thoughts on archaeomancer's map that thing looks amazing

It's yet another catch-up ramp effect. I'm not impressed.

I know that's not normally very impressive, but it also lets you get 2 plains to begin with. The ramp part is a little unreliable, but it's secondary to the fact that you get 2 lands in your hand right away

Its worth noting that Archaeomancers Map and Keeper of the Accord DO ramp, as long as you are not on the play. You play map on turn 3. When a player before you drops their 4th land on turn 4 you get your 4th land, and then you play your 5th land on you turn 4. I've been looking at it all day, and I believe the map is going to be very good for white decks as it continues to trigger throughout the game and will play well with other land tax, gift of estate effects, big draw cards, or wheel effects.

Really the only differences between Knight of the White Orchid or a plains cycler is that this isn't a creature, and (specifically for the knight) the land isn't put onto the battlefield until your opponent's turn (assuming you've already played one for turn). Plains cyclers don't exactly ramp you either. Again though, you seem to put a lot of emphasis on there being a lot of creatures in your deck, so that's probably why you don't want to make a switch. You probably also don't want to take out Expedition Map because it can get you any land you want.

I knowI've been posting comments a lot, but i think this time i found a real bomb, promise of loyalty! It's a blow up all but 1 creature card, but the survivors can't come at you
April 8, 2021 7:21 p.m.
What about Grafted Exoskeleton ? It seems like you already have a fast clock, so it wouldn't make much of a difference, but in the rare case Halvar is stuck in the command zone it would keep roughly the same clock. It could also build up to kill larger creatures if you can't for some reason.

Interesting future changes! Angel makes sense. What got you thinking about including the Wandering Archaic Flip?
Bronze Guardian was something I was considering for my deck also. What are you considering to replace it with? I could see switching out the Arbiter since they serve a similar purpose.

Wandering Archaic Flip is similar to a plainscycler but with more benefits. The creature half possessing an actual ability instead of a vanilla body and the spell half possibly being a 2-for-1 are things that have caught my attention.
Leonin Abunas is the Gold Standard of artifact protectors, and I have no intention of ever replacing it. I'm not sure what spot Bronze Guardian will take over at the moment.

Have the equip costs been causing any issues since you switched to Halvar? I know you added Ardenn (alongside things you already had such as stonehewer giant and puresteel paladin), but has that been enough?
I guess this is just to get the suggestions out there. I don't really know what you would switch or if you have any desire to increase the # of cards that provide free equips, but here's my suggestions in that regard (sorted by what I believe to be the most useful):
- Sigarda's Aid (I've already brought this up, but it would be disgraceful to not put it at the top of this list anyway)
- Armored Skyhunter You should really consider this. It has put in some work in my deck.
- Brass Squire (this probably doesn't do enough)
-I advocated against this one, and I still think it's a good choice to switch with something, which it looks like you are going to do. It is worth noting, however, that Nahiri, the Lithomancer is better with Halvar than Balan. The +1 is like getting a free equip. Still I believe she is outclassed by other cards. Her value in proportion to her cmc is quite small.
If you don't feel the need to put in more equip effects, feel free to ignore this.

There's no way you don't play Monologue Tax , right? It's actually just 2-3 cards per turn?
April 12, 2021 12:47 p.m.
NensouHiebara says... #15
Requiring opponents to have multi-spell turns renders Monologue Tax near dead early game. I don't want to see a useless ramp effect in my opening hand.

@NensouHiebara Thanks for the insights. I can see why you would want to keep the Arbiter. Could work well with the Guardian also.
@Ilnez I agree with Nensou’s thoughts on Monologue Tax. It would probably be bad as a late game draw. I think that card is better suited for an artifact deck like the one it comes in. Could also see it in a control spells deck. Those decks could make use of the treasure as you go through turns for instant speed interaction.

I think you are severely miss-evaluating
Archaeomancer's Map
. Yes, it is a catch-up ramp effect but it catches you up to the green player's land ramp.
It's absolute fail case it getting two plains in hand, witch is not great but still fine. It's a lot more likely that you get to put at least one of those lands into play. In that case, you have essentially cast a
Cultivate
. In that case it's already way better than any other ramp White has to offer.
Let's calculate the probability of the 'fail case' of not being able to put a land into play on the first rotation after playing
the Map
on curve.
You have a 25% chance of going first in any Commander game and a recent study by TCGPlayer showed that almost 50% of all commander decks play Green. Most Green decks use land-based ramp and most of that's 2 or 3 mana.
Following that logic, the chance that you go first and that no player plays Green is 3.125%, meaning
the Map
will be a
Cultivate
in approximately 97 out of 100 games.
I know this is not exact science (like if all Green players somehow kept hands with absolutely no ramp in them or if someone only uses creature-based ramp) but it's close enough imo.
Thanks for coming to my TED-Talk, play
Archaeomancer's Map
, it's probably the best thing mono White will ever get.

I have a quick question for you. How often do you find yourself actively searching for Jitte in the games you play? I was looking at my GW Voltron list the other day, and realized that there seem to be very few instances where I would pick Jitte over other equipment like the hammer of nazahn, sword of F&F, or even sword of the animist. I found that Jitte is often on the weaker side of equipment unless you get it going very early in the game. What are your thoughts? Would you cut it if another powerful equipment were printed?

NensouHiebara says... #19
Same as you. I don't actively search for Jitte when there's so many options that have a more immediate effect.
I can see it being cut at some point.

Ive played Jitte in Aurelia for years. It has the highest variance of any equipment from sometimes it does nothing, all the way up to wins the game by itself. I would get yourself a few more games of play test data. Most commanders now have 4 toughness or less so it becomes really easy to eliminate commanders, mana dorks and other value targets while you eventually store up for a lethal hit.

This Sword looks great! It ramps (one of the weakness of mono-white) untapped!
And it may (up to) blink one of our value ETB creatures or retake a stolen one.
