Oh my indeed! flavor and lore win. Helps get around the overall mana/equip costs vs the original Kaldra set, not vulnerable on 2 of 3 of the set cards waiting for the shield to show up, doesn't take up 3 slots... it's a hell of a buff for 7 mana.

I rarely run Balan anymore, but the deck still gets updates from time to time. This might be a nice excuse to take it out more often along with that Esper Sentinel

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one excited about the new kaldra. A lot of people are saying it's a worse batterskull, but imo it's a total package bomb

Kaldra complete looks fantastic! Fetchable, play for seven for a 5/5 that can attack straight away and hopefully remove and issue from the field. Sword of Home and Heath is cracking and I'm hoping that it finds a home, it is straight upgrade to sword of the Animist right? Wold both be overkill?

@Spyrechild

I'm going to use both, at least for now. Sword of Hearth and Home is going in instead of Dowsing Dagger.  Flip

Nettlecyst and Batterbone

Interesting stuff. both living weapons, one's a mini batterskull, and one's like Cranial Plating , only it counts artifacts and enchantments, and isn't color restricted

Nettlecyst is practically Golem-Skin Gauntlets in this deck, and I have a feeling that if the gauntlets aren't good enough, neither is nettlecyst. It has to be more than just a P/T boost. Sure it comes equipped to something, but nowadays we are getting things that enter and equip to something while still giving a P/T boost that is likely about the same as Nettlecyst (the turn it is played at least) while still doing more on top of that. Take Maul of the Skyclaves as an example.

Are you going to slot in Esper Sentinel ?

Would you consider Colossus Hammer since Urza's Saga can tutor it out to play!?

@gzusvictory

Probably not. Equip 8 is still the issue. I may reconsider if more cards that dodge high equip costs find their way into the deck.

@CrimsonWings3689

I like the Equipment part of it, but I don't like waiting for the creature part of it to die. And the Equipment itself being White will clash with two of the Swords.

gzusvictory it was good when Balan, Wandering Knight was the commander, but with halvar it's not a great choice

NensouHiebara Thoughts on adding Robe of Stars?

NensouHiebaraAlso are there any other cards from Forgotten Realms that you would add?

NensouHiebara says... #16

@blpace

Two Swords with pro-White make using coloured Equipment extremely awkward. I'm taking out a coloured Equipment to avoid this issue as much as possible.

I'm looking at Loyal Warhound and Cave of the Frost Dragon from Forgotten Realms.

Hello NensouHiebara. Why did you choose Kor Haven over Maze of Ith?

August 12, 2021 9:42 a.m.

NensouHiebara says... #18

@blpace

I used to run both. Needed room for another land and Maze of Ith was the lesser card. Not tapping for mana created problems.

what are your thoughts on the new Voltron commander Galea, Kindler of Hope?

August 16, 2021 11 p.m.

CavemanlyMan says... #20

No double strike (even though vigilance can be relevant I suppose). Also, for the number of equipment he runs in this deck, the last ability really isn't uber amazing. Green would just add in ramp, and I'm not really sure what blue does for an equipment deck.

You didn't ask for my input, but there it is.

Fantastic update mate, nice to see a lot of the changes I had already made to my own version being echoed in yours. Your point on graveyard hate is interesting as I never made the switch to Soul-Guide Lantern, I instead stuck with Apostle of Purifying Light as it was fetchable of Recruiter and was more of a scalpel than a sweep. This may be due in fact to my playgroup currently being plagued by a The Scarab God tribal reanimator deck that I may have helped tune.

Lantern of the Lost or Remorseful Cleric grave hate ideas. Heirloom Blade is a equipment I'm high on grants no evasion but can help keep threats coming. Makes the commander a 2 turn clock I'd suggest 1 changling in the deck so it acts as a tutor for it with unpaired creature types. Or a God so your commander will grab that of it dies. Recursion for big creatures is difficult in white. The options are not generally cost efficient. Argivian Find is good for artifacts but not really a shining piece here. Field of the Dead is autoinclude in many of my powerful decks. It might have a place here.

@IHATENAMES

Lantern of the Lost isn't good enough. Soul-Guide Lantern has set the bar extremely high for Grave-hate options. Not touching my 'yard or exiling itself are unique qualities that future full-purge cards will have to posses in order to measure up. Remorseful Cleric was in this deck before, but it didn't last very long.

Allowing Halvar  Flip to two-shot is a low bar to cross. A power boost of at least 2 isn't a particular trait that automatically makes an Equipment worthwhile. Heirloom Blade's death trigger would vary too wildly, and I don't have the space for cards to make it function properly.

Remember the Fallen is a recursion spell that I've used before and I'm looking into finding a spot to put it back in. It's a lot better than Argivian Find.

Field of the Dead doesn't do anything relevant. I don't necessarily go wide in combat and a bunch of vanilla 2/2s wouldn't do much beyond being chump block fodder.

Given that you have Argentum Armor, which can cost to hardcast and equip if you don't have ways around it, how do you feel about Eldrazi Conscription?

NensouHiebara says... #25

@TypicalTimmy

Adding a high-cost enchantment to my artifact-centric deck is probably not going to work well.
