Ultimately, it's your deck. So even if your reason is "I don't like the art", it is your choice.
Just thought I would put my suggestion out there, since it does make sense.

Ashnod's Altar doesn't work in this deck.
My deck doesn't have the resources to make it effective. I also don't get Kemba out every game. With no fodder, Altar sits on the field and does nothing.
June 4, 2013 7:52 a.m.
Would you try out Eight-and-a-Half-Tails ? He can protect your board against targetted removal, or make kemba unblockable, or can even hold swords if kemba's not available.

Had Eight-and-a-Half-Tails in the deck before. Took it out for space. On the fence about re-adding him. Maybeboard for now.

mstancea is totally right. Even if the deck does really well you still aren't getting any synergy from Kemba if you don't use her abilities. You are playing this deck as a singleton deck and not as a commander deck if you don't try to utilize your commander's abilities. I play Rafiq Voltron and he abolishes people because he can swing for lethal 3rd turn with a god hand. Kemba can be a good commander, but she is just a 2-4 for 3 if you don't do something more with her abilities. I don't care if your deck is"good" right now, you have a ton of good cards to make it that. But you will never reach this decks true peak if you don't play it like a commander deck.
tl;dr Kemba is a terrible Voltron commander but not a terrible commander.

I don't want this to be a token deck. If I want tokens, there are other Commanders. This deck is Voltron. I built it that way and it will remain so. Forcing this deck to adapt a token strategy is not going to make it reach an assumed "true peak". I had token support in this deck before when I first built it. I took it out, as it wasn't helping.
Kemba being a terrible Voltron Commander is an opinion, not a fact.

Thank you eatteapee but I'm afraid there's no use.
NensouHiebara, I acknowledge you as a formidable opponent and a great player and deck builder, but I also acknowledge that your pride is getting in the way of seeing things as they really are. With all due respect, Kemba, Kha Regent 's synergy that you mentioned is that she makes tokens, and you are not utilizing that as a resource.

mstancea, you are a serious fucker. If somebody disregards your advice, why press on? Why are you being such an ass?

Easy Skyfolk. I'm not taking sides here but mstancea hasn't made any direct insults, yet. There are less obtuse ways of getting your point across.

mstancea, if the guy doesn't want your advice the best thing you can do is bow out. It's not like you have anything invested here.
I made a suggestion or two and was shot down. I made my case and left it alone, I respectfully suggest you do the same.

Im just going to throw this out there, since kemba isn't being utilized for her token ability, why not change the general for someone who is faster (and on my opinion a hilarious general) ladies and gentlemen I introduce you to Isamaru, Hound of Konda guaranteed turn 1 play, same effectiveness as kemba for how she is being used now. But you can play things on turn 3 this way instead of a equipment body.
June 4, 2013 8:55 p.m.
AzrielBarakiel says... #13
And then you get to imagine your general like he is a zoid, instead of a cat with too many swords in her hands. Or perhaps a digimon rather than a zoid.
June 4, 2013 9 p.m.
It's not like the cat tokens aren't doing anything. They can be used as chump blockers and board presence. This deck just doesn't require kemba to create cats for it to function. Relying too heavily on your general's ability can be just as harmful as disregarding the ability altogether.

I don't want Kemba to be a token deck. Is that so difficult to understand?
Reasons why I don't run a token strategy:
- If Kemba becomes unavailable, the strategy falls apart.
- Commander Damage kills are faster that waiting for Kemba to produce an army.
- Token support eats up deck space.
- Running token support dilutes the deck's Voltron strategy.
- There are more efficient Commanders for a token deck, especially when adding other colours.
I choose not to run tokens in Kemba because I want my deck to fully centralize on Voltron.
Basically what Hobes369 said. Kemba's tokens also protects her from forced sacrifice effects.
Isamaru, Hound of Konda doesn't interest me.
June 4, 2013 9:26 p.m.
At this point can we all just agree then that this deck doesn't have the best commander for the deck and that is just fine. It is up to the builder and our suggestions can be ignored at his behest.
The end.

Token generation/neglect aside, I think this is a very good deck, and it's one that I like to playtest against when testing my own EDH decks. This deck does a fantastic job of whooping my ass -- all without the use of tokens.
Not trying to be a kiss ass or anything, just giving my 5 cents. I really like what NensouHiebara has made here, and as long as he's enjoying playing the deck, nothing else matters. MtG is a game before it's anything else.
June 4, 2013 9:47 p.m.
I would suggest both, but Gauntlet of Power is 99% strictly better than Caged Sun :)

Gauntlet of Power works for opponents whereas Caged Sun does not. I'd say that's worth the 1 cmc difference.
June 4, 2013 9:57 p.m.
Harsh Mercy could work pretty well. It lets you keep kemba and (I know you are not playing tokens but still...) any tokens you may have on the battlefield. Depending on your meta this could range from insignificant to amazing.
June 4, 2013 10:05 p.m.
Have you considered moving EDH general to Eight-and-a-Half-Tails ? I can see him being much more useful with lots of equipment as you can always make him unblockable and protect him plus he comes out earlier than Kemba and still stays mono-white.
I certainly don't agree with people telling you how to run your deck and really being quite offensive about it. Please don't take this as such. I'm just offering a suggestion. It is your deck in the end and you should run whatever commander you have fun playing and are happy with.
I would also consider Baneslayer Angel as with or without equipment, it's a tremendously powerful 5 drop and can get a lot of damage in.
Mind's Eye could be a great draw engine for this deck as white doesn't have too many draw engines.
Hallowed Burial is a possible board wipe to include.
Crystal Ball can help to ensure you draw what you need.

@Izzet
Using Eight-and-a-Half-Tails as the Commander sounds like a great idea. I'll try him out.
Baneslayer Angel is a great card, but I don't have space for another beater in the deck right now.
I chose Staff of Nin over Mind's Eye , as Staff can ping Planeswalkers, among other things. I don't have room for both.
Terminus is enough for me. I don't like tucking my Commander.
I had Crystal Ball in the deck before. I replaced with Scroll Rack last year. Don't have the space to re-add it.
I'm dropping Cataclysm and Divine Reckoning because they backfire too often. Harsh Mercy is in the same boat.
As Ohthenoises pointed out, Caged Sun is one-sided. Caged Sun also allows nonbasics to tap for extra.
I'll most likely use Eight-and-a-Half-Tails , as he protects everything.

I like the concept behind this deck. Not using kemba to focus on tokens is user preference. I like this because kemba is not vital to the deck. She is a nice bonus if u get her but not being able to use doesn't wreck the deck. +1

What about Commander Eesha as a commander ? Elbrus, the Binding Blade Flip may be powerful too.Konda, Lord of Eiganjo is a beast with his indestructible. What do you think ?

Have you guys realized I'm only talking about one card (Ashnod's Altar )? That's hardly a huge change.
