@Krayhaft

They're completely worth using and there are cards to circumvent their high costs.

I don't feel like I'm being slowed down. As long as I have mana open for removal or Kor Haven , I don't mind paying for the equip costs.

Have you considered Kusari-Gama ? It kicks ass in clearing a ton of tokens if your opponents are going a mass token strat like with krenko decks and the like.

@nemesis101

Had Kusari-Gama in the deck before. I took it out as I wasn't really using it.

How about Taj-Nar Swordsmith for another tutor and Auriok Survivors for the late game.

@stevetoast

Taj-Nar Swordsmith ends up costing too much for my liking, as I use a handful of expensive Equipment.

Auriok Survivors , now that I think abut it, could be useful. I'll Maybeboard it for now.

I know you are kind of in flux about your general but have you ever considered Linvala, Keeper of Silence as a general? She does a lot to screw over a LOT of decks that use activated abilities like the Deadeye Navigator + Palinchron and the Triskelion + Mikaeus, the Unhallowed decks.

It should also be noted that I have played against Linvala, Keeper of Silence artifact voltron before and it is VERY hard to get rid of her once a sword hits her. She also plays nicely with sword cmc curve (3+4).

@Ohthenoises

I'm going to stick with Eight-and-a-Half-Tails . His abilities make him a better fit for Voltron.

Thinking about upping my creature count to 22.

Good idea? Bad idea? What do you think?

Krayhaft says... #9

What would be the purpose of adding 2 more creatures? What would you put in and what would you take out?

In my Sigarda deck I run 18 creatures and I usually have little problem with it.

NensouHiebara, did I read your comment from June 28th right? You're changing the general of this deck from Kemba, Kha Regent to Eight-and-a-Half-Tails ?

NensouHiebara says... #11

@Joshuawesome

Thinking about it and testing out the change.

Why? Do you disagree?

July 1, 2013 12:20 p.m.

Joshuawesome says... #12

Using Kemba, Kha Regent as general gives your deck an original flavor. Eight-and-a-Half-Tails is done often in Voltron. Yeah, it works, but using a general that isn't obvious is what attracts me most about this deck. You make Kemba work, whereas not everyone can do that. Anyone can make Eight-and-a-Half-Tails work. Just my five cents.

I'm sure whichever you choose is going to be awesome either way.

@Joshuawesome

My deck isn't going through a major overhaul, I'll just have a different Legend at the helm. One that's more beneficial for a Voltron strategy. No worries.

Kinda wish more 'Equipment Matters' Legends existed, though.

Interesting...

July 3, 2013 9:29 a.m.

Was thinking the same thing.

Not something you'd fetch out 99% of the time, but not something you'd be sad to draw mid-late game

You posted earlier about upping the creature count to 22. My rule of thumb, is never change anything unless you have a good reason. If the deck is working with 20 creatures then don't change it. I think Kemba is a wonderul general and IMO I wouldn't change her for the fox. Fox is easy mode IMO and I find you might get bored. I am not a big fan of Argentum Armor .

I think there are better cards that cost less. I had it in my The Legend of the Legendary Heron deck, but I always found that I had something cheaper and better to play. I personally like Scythe of the Wretched and since you have a lot of basic lands I would possibly use Gauntlet of Power .

I am also a big advocate for Grafted Exoskeleton if you can swing for 10 infect on your turn. Those are my thoughts. If you have time, please rate or comment on my edh deck that I posted earlier in my message, Always looking for advice. Thanks!

@Zifier

I love Argentum Armor . +6/+6 and a free Vindicate every attack is worth it, IMO One of my first choices of Equipment to fetch with Stonehewer Giant .

I don't really like Scythe of the Wretched . Opponents will chump block with their worst creature or a token if able and 4 mana to equip is too hefty for just +2/+2.

I already run Extraplanar Lens and Caged Sun . I don't feel like I need Gauntlet of Power . Also, I don't like how Gauntlet affects all players. My meta is heavy White.

What irks me about Grafted Exoskeleton is the unattach trigger. Makes it too easy to snipe Commanders with well-timed artifact spot removal.

Ok, here's what I got.

So the reasons why I suggested these cards is because I believe they can make your deck faster and more efficient. All those mana ramping cards will always give you that benefit of increasing your mana and thinning out your library for better draw percentages.

@onigirumo

Knight of the White Orchid : I'm running Eternal Dragon (Huge, flying body; repeatable) and Weathered Wayfarer (Can fetch utility land; repeatable), which I feel are better than it.

Kor Cartographer : I'm running Solemn Simulacrum , which is better than it for this deck. Don't have space for both.

Mistveil Plains : Had it the deck before. Not too sure if I want to use it again.

Expedition Map : Had it in the deck before. Don't have the space to use it again.

Wayfarer's Bauble : No interest in using it.

Vesuva : Dropped it for Thespian's Stage . No interest in using it again.

Temple of the False God : Dropped it for Ancient Tomb . No interest in using it again.

Terramorphic Expanse & Evolving Wilds : Don't like them in Monocoloured.

Why not use Odric, Master Tactician as a commander? The way I read Eight-and-a-Half-Tails is that if you are playing a deck with a way to get tons of creatures that are not white, it takes tons of mana to protect it fully. With Odric you can just attach a bunch of equipments, and attack with 4 creatures, and he goes through unblocked. He also has better power/toughness and has first strike just in case.

July 9, 2013 5:51 p.m.

NensouHiebara says... #21

@joeymoyn

That's the reason why I don't use Odric, Master Tactician : He needs other creatures. Aside from Kemba sticking for a few turns, I very rarely have 4 or more creatures out at a time. Odric is better suited for token decks.

As for Eight-and-a-Half-Tails having difficulty getting through large, non-white armies, Rogue's Passage exists.

Have you thought of putting in Steelshaper Apprentice . Its a decent search card for equipment that you want.

I might take out Transcendent Master . For the amount of mana to buff him you could use Steelshaper Apprentice to get and equip what you want to a creature. I just think it may be more useful to use mana elsewhere then try and pumping Transcendent Master

Also if you need a fatty to block for you and can grant protection take a look at Jareth, Leonine Titan .

If you have the chance please comment or rate my commander deck The Legend of the Legendary Heron Thanks!

Idk how your play group is but... Phyrexian Altar and even better... Claws of Gix seem like really good ways to not get your much need creatures and equipment exiled... Even an Arcbound Ravager would help your equipment fight another day incase of an exile... Hints why you have Trading Post right?

July 10, 2013 6:22 a.m.

NensouHiebara says... #24

@Zifier

Steelshaper Apprentice was in the before. I like the card and I'm trying to find room for it. Transcendent Master is currently being replaced with Windborn Muse .

I have plenty of fatties in the deck right now, no really need for any others.

@Samj1988

I don't have space for miscellaneous sacrifice outlets.

Trading Post was added because it's a recursion engine. Sacrificing Equipment to it save them from exiling removal is a bonus.

May I advise a Surestrike Trident ?

I run one in my modern equip deck. It's cheap to cast and really becomes a killer in the late-game when you can afford to drum up either the mana to move it around or the vigilance to make it a finishing combo.

It's pretty much a reusable Fling (minus the sacrifice) built into an equipment, and with a Puresteel Paladin on the board, and a Leonin Shikari to give it flash-equip, you can pretty much have your entire creature base fling themselves clear at your opponent for the win.
