An ancient scroll tells of the time when Vela and her clan of ninja fought alongside eldritch monstrosities in a war of many factions. The scroll also describes the deeds of the legendary heroes and their tactics.

When the Eldrazi began to attack, many enemies were annihilated by their mere world-warping presence. Vela's magic made the Eldrazi too intimidating for any enemies to face in combat, save those with hearts of metal. But sneaking beneath the behemoths were Ninja, who could infiltrate enemy territory with ease. The Eldrazi withdrew to let the Ninja conduct their missions of assassination and sabotage, only to appear from the Blind Eternities onto the frontlines again and again, wreaking massive havoc whenever they appeared.

When the Eldrazi warped reality, many enemies and lands were removed from existence. Their non-existence allowed Ulamog's Nullifier to nullify spells, Wasteland Strangler to strangle enemies, and Oblivion Sower to bring back the forgotten places as Vela's territory, each time they reappeared after the ninja recalled them.

Those souls recovered by Ulamog's Nullifier and Wasteland Strangler were reanimated by Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni.

But some of the enemies reanimated by Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni or summoned by Silent-Blade Oni were merely sacrificial vessels, from which a Wretched Gryff, Distended Mindbender, or Vexing Scuttler might emerge. The emergence of the Scuttler would lead to a Mana Drain as it crawled across the battlefield where All Is Dust, and Damnation awaited in the Cyclonic Rift.

Thought-Knot Seer removed magic from the minds of some enemies only to return it to the minds of others. Silent-Blade Oni appeared where the Seer was standing, and cast the spell that had only just appeared in the mind of his victim.

As the war raged on, with even the stealth of the Ninja and the reality bending powers of the Eldrazi unable to prevail, Vela was forced to summon help from other planes.

The Ambuscade Shaman from the Mardu clan on Tarkir made the Ninja ambuscades much more damaging, especially when the Panharmonicon amplified their raid magic.

Some of the most important allies that Vela called upon were the shapeshifters. Shapeshifters could take the form of the Eldrazi, though their reality-warping abilities were often lacking. After coordinated strikes with the Ninja, they could change their forms again and again. The greatest of them was Sakashima the Impostor, who some claimed could even take on the form of the unfathomable Kozilek, Butcher of Truth. Sakashima's Student was also well-versed in the art of ninjutsu.

When multiple shapeshifters took on the form of Ambuscade Shaman, the resulting Ninja raids were devastating. A shapeshifter could act as a Conduit of Ruin, so Eldrazi could easily be summoned from the Blind Eternities. In times of dire need, a shapeshifter could also take on the form of larger creatures, and become hosts from which Eldrazi could emerge.

The construction of a Dimir Aqueduct could flood lands and render them unusable for a while, but afterwards the Bojuka Bog and Vesuva were as good as new.

Even the Eldrazi could fall in battle, but Mikaeus, the Unhallowed or the Cauldron of Souls could them back for a second life. However, the Glen Elendra Archmage could live through countless cycles of undeath and rebirth, allowing her to give her life to stop all the enemies' magic as long as she had mana.

Finally, the Palinchron swooped down and infused the lands with its temporal magic, with the Panharmonicon doubling that magic, and the Deadeye Navigator helping it fly in and out. The shapeshifters also became Palinchrons, and focused their power to turn back time on the lands that were particularly abundant but had gone fallow, such as the Cabal Coffers, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, and the Lost Vale that was found by the Dowsing Dagger  . As the Palinchrons flew in and out of the battlefield, Vela's magic drained the life from her enemies, until they were no more.

The war was finally over. Vela's Eldrazi and Ninja had triumphed over incredible wizards, ferocious dragons, relentless undead, creatures of artifice, the very gods themselves, and innumerable other fantastic enemies. But they continue to further themselves on the path of Eldrazi Ninjutsu, for war is an inescapable fate that is sure to revisit.

What weapons and tactics will they bring to their next battle? Rumors speak of an Arcane Adaptation that allows the Eldrazi to become Ninja or the Ninja to become Eldrazi. The Ninja might have armed themselves with a Fireshrieker. Inside the Mirror Gallery were glimpses of a Deceiver of Form. Keiga, the Tide Star and Kokusho, the Evening Star might have joined their ranks. Gonti, Lord of Luxury might enlist if the enemies have particularly luxurious loot. The particularly Ravenous Chupacabra that has killed thousands of dinosaurs on Ixalan will not have escaped Vela's notice. And what new powerful Eldrazi will enter this tale as the war spreads to other planes in the future?

To find out, we must await the next installment of the Eldrazi Ninja Scroll.
