I like the deck, but I would add ghostfire blades. They will be hard to remove for your opponent, easy for you to equip, and will survive for multiple uses when you sac creatures to your barrage tyrant. I'd be tempted to get some Exquisite Firecrafts in as well.

I keep forgetting about Ghostfire Blades, I think I will replace the Titan's Strengths with them, plus they trigger many of the effects because they are colorless. Believe me I was very tempted to slot in Exquisite Firecrafts as well but for the same CMC you get more synergy in this deck with Touch of the Void, even tho it is strictly worse comparatively. Thank you for the advice and +1!

No problem, good luck with the deck. If you get a chance, please check out my red dragons deck.

well personally i would add that this deck could maybe be jund. reasons,a i think you should add creatures like sludge crawler and or blister pod. there both 1 drops that can be equpied with ghostfire on turn 2 for a 3/3. also it can influence you to play cards like atarka's command to burn and ramp for your 4-5 drop spells or add extra mana to help other cards get played faster. you would also have acess to other cards like from beyond or collected company. BUUUT if you wanna keep it these colors i would just add sludge crawler and hangerback walker to make the dmg come faster.

Your reasoning is valid, Atarka's Command would be the only reason I would splash green tho. Blisterpod and From Beyond are both ramp cards which do nothing in this deck other than get cards out quicker. The mana curve peaks at 3 so ramp is pointless. But I really do like your suggestion of Hangarback Walker, Sludge Crawler might make the cut but idk what to take out for it. Thank you alwaysmovin!!

Ey! good deck! +1, but what do you think about adding something like Transgress the Mind or Duress for threads like End Hostilities or Planar Outburst

albino_ninja says... #7

Thanks xbijohx! Transgress the Mind is a good suggestion, boardwipes are definitely a problem. Plus it lets me take a peek at what's coming. I wouldn't slot in for Duress because it doesn't have synergy with Molten Nursery.

+1 This kinda reminds me of "Big Rakdos" that used to exist in standard back in Ravnica City of Guilds. I would take notes from those lists to fix/tone your land count, removal count, creature count, etc.

Here's an article about Big Rakdos:
http://archive.wizards.com/Magic/magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/rc/211

One difference that stands out to me is your very low land count and lack of ramp which most of these decks utilized.

I'd consider removing some 3-drops, like Nettle Drone, to make room for more lands and ramp like Generator Servant or Mage-Ring Network. Unfortunately, there aren't any good mana rocks in standard, if there were, they would be perfect here.

Thank you electromancer for the comment and +1, but by some of your suggestions I think you have missed the base purpose of this deck. "Big Rakdos" is all about making your opponent discard/sac while burning them down. A very fun controlish type deck, I remember it well. But this deck centers around self sacrificing to burn with Barrage Tyrant as the end game win condition. Nettle Drones are essential to this deck because it is a constant source of damage that can add up every quickly when casting colorless spells. Generator Servant is no longer standard legal and while Mage-Ring Network is a good ramp land, it is far too slow for this deck and pointless since the mana curve peaks at 3 CMC. There is an element of aggro in this deck to keep pressure on the opponent but Sac/Burn is the main win condition.

geopede, despite not being colorless, is a nice way to burn out opponents in the late game because of landfall triggers

Endless One seems really good here at any point in the game, loving the "smaller" Eldrazi themes. If...IF you play anything big to close the game I think its just 1-2 Pyromancer's Goggles, IF you do ramp just to help you fling with the Tyrant, Hedron Archive. +1 love it.

Tunneling Geopede isn't a bad card, but that roll is already filled with Nettle Drone, which has more synergy and can untap for more damage. Endless One is a great card, period. But that slot is also filled with Hangarback Walkers, when I sac it for burn damage it multiplies into fliers, plus it can grow unlike endless one. Thank you for the suggstions LDM393 & JKLawson89

using garage tyrant to throw a beefed up walker at an opponent and then get millions of thopters, i love the value :)

I'm going to try this deck your way and see how it does. Thank you! +1

Thank you LDM393 and DashtheDestroyer!! The deck has great synergy the way it is Dash but a few things that could have gone a different direction are slotting in Silent Skimmer and more Swarm Surge to give this deck more of an aggro feel. Dominator Drone would also help with that and there is always room for Ruinous Path (which im considering sideboarding in for control match ups). All these suggestions are completely up to your play style but I hope it gives you some inspiration.

October 4, 2015 3:35 p.m.

In my opinion Silent Skimmer isn't worth being in the deck. It may be a 0/4 flyer that continuously deals 2 damage but once the opponent has something big to block it, its worthless. There's gotta be a way to continuously untap and tap Nettle Drone to win the game. I just can't think of how.

October 5, 2015 1:11 p.m.

albino_ninja says... #17

It is in the way you play Nettle Drone That makes it so effective. The best being to keep it untapped until your opponent ends their turn, tap for damage, untap during upkeep, tap for damage, play colorless spell, untap, tap for damage, play colorless spell, untap, pass turn. If you have 2 out, which you often do, thats 6 damage on top of the aggro pressure from the spells you just cast and not including the damage from Molten Nursery. If both the spells you played were Touch of the Void that is 14 damage in one turn including Molten damage. That is bananas by any scale!

If you were looking for an infinite combo, I am not sure there is one. But if you find it please share :)

Where's Lightning Bolt?? If only...XD

albino_ninja says... #19

hahaha i wish Fried_Mana, i dont think they will ever reprint Lightning Bolt, its the single morst over powered removal/burn spell in the game.

wolfboy193 says... #20

I think they will in awhile remember the Lightning Bolt from around 2012 is just a reprint in it of itself.

October 6, 2015 1:51 p.m.

albino_ninja says... #21

Very true, but WotC has been trying to keep mono red in line for awhile so other decks can be competitive. Even tho RDW lost a fair amount of mainboard standards, gaining Lightning Bolt again would give them a huge leg up. I was kinda hoping that they would reprint Banefire, that was my favorite burn card of all time!

October 6, 2015 1:58 p.m.

wolfboy193 says... #22

Banefire would be awesome to see again or maybe a Similar card to it, but as of right now I don't think were going to see very much on good straight burn spells in this block

wolfboy193 says... #23

Have you thought of using Mortuary Mire in this deck?

October 6, 2015 2:45 p.m.

albino_ninja says... #24

I have actually, but through testing I found that I get more value for that mechanic from Kolaghan's Command. But that is against conservatively control slotted decks, I might switch out the two Wild Slashs for them if my meta turns out to be control heavy.

I made a similar deck, but it goes all in on molten nursery type effects, and has a lot of card draw. If anyone wants to check it out that would be great, and I would really appreciate your opinions. This deck does look awesome though, and I will definitely try it out. I do like the late game potential. Anyway, keep it up, and I hope you have fun
